    put a couple of galands of white vinigar in the fuel tank that will clean any rust and stuff out of it. pull the tank though and shake the tank every few days.

    The old engine sounds good you need to adjust the idel mixture screws on carb. You need to find some double hump heads and a 4 barrel for it then it will be what they call a 265 power pack then put a 4 speed in it with some 356 rear gears or 411s put some straight pipes on it..keep up the good work I'm 74 been wrenching fo 60 years and I'm still doing it I got a 383 s10 and a 47 chevy coupe

    Well done on getting it running. Yes it ran off the carburettor but it ran because you used the throttle too. When you were trying to get it running of the bottle you were not opening the throttle. FYI- It will never start if you don't open the throttle to give it some air to go with the fuel. Cheers Stew

    If you have issues with getting this thing to stay running , it is gonna be your starter relay! The one that you want to go with will not be the blue , the black or the orange you specifically want to use the anodyzed metal one! If you are looking to get interior or trim peices for this model you can inter change most of the 71', 72',73' and 74's With the exception of minor things like the tail lights and Louvered opera window inserts. Those came only in the 73' and 74'. The fender marker lights are also different between the 73 and 74 compared to the flush mount 71 and 72. But interior you can use from those 4 years, unless you have bucket seats compared to a split bench seat. But on the other hand parts are very nilly on these 71-74 B body Chargers.

    My buddy in Michigan has this exact car.But has this race semi orange?He has the original 400 cubic inch motor in his garage in a cabinet.But he installed a four forty with a sixpack in it. We ended up cutting out a second hood to install the six pack scoop on Easter of 2012. It has been in the Detroit Autorama 6 times taking 2nd place all 6 times. The car was originally silver, but was painted in 96 and is now Race Hemi orange which has more red in the paint than that of regular Hemi Orange. The car was nice enough to be praised by Chip Foose and George Barris so much that George came to his car 3 years in a raw at the Woodward Dreamcruise in Michigan. I am the only person besides him to be able to drive it, and only 1 of 8 people to ever have my hands working on it and doing restoration work to it. This was known as a "Coke Bottle" body. As with my buddy's car this was produced at the "Lynch Rd. ASSEMBLY PLANT, in detroit. It is a slick ride, and looks sweet!

    The overheating will be a radiator or a fan clutch. I've never had a Mopar overheat for any other reason. The "throttle rod" has a procedure for adjusting it. Mopar used several different versions depending on the car and the engine, but the short story is that on the later models the adjustment is made at the transmission. You have the "throttle lever" on the transmission with a smaller rod and pivot arrangement on the outer end of it. Normally there is a bolt that you loosen so that the small rod can slide front to rear. With the carb at base idle, you pull the throttle rod forward at the carb until there is no space in the slot there, then pull the throttle LEVER on the trans forward against it's stop, then tighten the bolt. My concern is that the correct van 318/727 throttle rod won't fit the car at all because I think it's one long piece. Hopefully the 904 throttle rod arrangement can be made to work with the 727. All mine have been SB/904 or BB/727 combos. When it holds gear far too long without or before shifting, the throttle rod adjustment is too tight. In other words, the linkage is pushing the throttle lever on the trans too far rearward for the amount of throttle you are giving it so it thinks you are way down on the gas...if that makes sense. Don't run without the throttle rod disconnected, that burns them up quick.

    • @auteurfiddler8706
      @auteurfiddler8706 4 місяці тому

      Oh, I got past the part where you put in the van trans. How did it not need to have the driveshaft shortened? The car 904 is about three inches shorter than the car 727, too much to leave to the slip yoke. I am paying to have my drive shaft shortened by 1.6 inches and even that is too much to stuff into the slip yoke.

    If it makes you feel better, I once took a Mopar 4 speed out of my GTX to fix a bad throw out bearing. And I could NOT lift it back up. I had not heard of transmission jacks and barely had a pair of jack stands. I tried lifting it up with scrap lumber one two by four at a time. for hours. Finally I had to call a shop and have it towed and done by the shop. And that was when I was in my prime.
