As per Archeological Survey of India, the temple is initially founded by Nolamba Dynasty.After that temple was restored by Chola dynasty and is a beutiful temple build in Dravidian Style of Architecture.The temple is protected Monument now and is under Archeological Survey Of India.
The temple complex has 4 major shrines.This is 1 temple for Lord Ram and one each other for this brother Sri lakshman,Bharat ad Shatruthan. Then there are temples dedicated to Vali and Sugriv as well.
