    I see a lot of the salty behavior in aging/elderly people, and it came to a head during the COVID pandemic. The aging narcissist/control freak revealed themselves very clearly. They can't stand that life (and often technology) has passed them by, the world is no longer one they recognize, and they're BIG MAD about younger people in leadership roles. So they channel that anger into stopping other people from growing or succeeding. If they can't control other people/situations, they spiral out of control and resort to gossip, lies and gaslighting to swing things in their favor.

    I first realized i had anxious attachment stype through my last relationship. I subconsciously self-sabatoged the relationship through negative inner dialogue patterns, crippling anxiety, being trapped in my own head and overthinking every small interaction with her. She ended things between us last week. The only issue now is that even through i am working on myself actively every day, she's still moving in next week. I live with her best friend and she was set to move in before we even got together. I still like her quite a lot, but i'm really trying to focus on detaching, reacquainting myself with my passions and purpose, but still i ruminate. It's going to be hard and strange. We weren't together for long at all and i know she likely has no residual feelings for me, but each morning i wake up anxious and depressed. I need to get my power back.

    Working from home is a real socializing killer. Not knowing the language the other. Common interests are a good basis for getting to know other people. The easiest way in Germany is probably joining a club but that requires usually some language skills. So the most important task is to escape the language barrier cage. The small town cage has an escape vehicle called car. Germans often make the impression of being cold, but the more open you meet them the easier it is to socialize. Good luck!

    Germany has extensive regulations for paternity leave in the form of up to three years of "Elternzeit" that both parents can take. In comparison, this is better than most EU countries. You are also entitled to "Elterngeld". Whether people take advantage of this is another question. And "Kindergeld" is of course not only available in Bavaria, but throughout Germany.

    • @realandfree
      @realandfree 4 місяці тому

      Yes, maybe I didn't formulate it well in the video, the law in terms of parental leave is good, but on practice the system implies that you depend on the income of your spouse, because if you take 3 years of leave (which is what many women here do, as I spoke to many of them), its the same money that you would receive during 1 year only split into 3 years, so the amount per month is pretty low and wouldn't allow you to have your own budget without counting on your spouse's income. I was getting Elterngeld for 11 months and I still had to depend on my husband primarily (of course, it depends on how long you worked and your salary etc, but still). And I was talking about Familiengeld, not Kindergeld, which is only in Bavaria :)

    Funny remark about the complaining in Spain, I feel Like a lot of us have to work on stop complaining and enjoy and see the positive. I think it makes sense to draw boundaries, for example if something is negative about the country like politics, I start to lock out this topic of my daily life, I just want to deal with it only in the surface and if it is needed. In terms of weather there might be also solutions to improve this time, like plan more holidays in the cold time (November and February are really the most hard months of the year in Germany). Also exercising more in this time of the year to feel better. Just today saw your channel, I wish you great experience and success here on UA-cam 🙏

    It's funny I am a German living in Spain right now and I miss so many small German things (bread, good but still cheap cheese, the cute decorated houses, the organization, the tap water, the heatings in the houses and in general the houses being better build for the cold, Glühwein, Plätzchen, ...) it's interesting to see the other perspective and you are really right it is not about the country, it's mostly the mindset. Although I have to agree, the sun here makes it a lot easier to enjoy the months after Christmas. You should go ice-skating, sometimes it is even possible on some lakes and try everything on the christmas market !! :)

    • @realandfree

      Omg yessss, I was missing the exact same things when I was living in Spain, I hated so much how cold it was inside the house! 😀 Love ice skating btw, although it's definitely not cold enough to do it at a lake at least not in Bavaria where we are

    Some scientifically backed up pro tips to get real summer mood in winter (helped me very much with depression): - Go outside every morning after sunrise for 10-20 Minutes and get blue morning sunlight into your eyes (even when it's cloudy) - Combine it with running or other cardiovascular exercise, zone 2 training is also fine (> 150 minutes a week in total is perfect, for beginners 6 Minutes daily is enough and better than nothing) - Go to a solarium 2-3 times a week for UV-B light exposure which will increase testosterone and estrogen levels and Vitamin D production - Probiotics: Eat fermented foods, best is to make them by yourself (Kefir, Sauerkraut). Your gut produces serotonin and needs a healthy gut microbiome - Prebiotics: Feed good gut bacteria with plant fiber (legumes, vegetables, nuts, seeds, etc.) 20-30 grams of fiber daily is perfect, but start with low amounts - Red light therapy (makes your mitochondria produce more energy and reduces inflammation) - Take Vitamin D3 + Omega 3s, B Vitamins and Magnesium. Most people have a lack in these. Do not take too much, it depends very much on your diet. Healthy food, sunlight and exercise has a massive impact on mental health and mood in general, especially during winter months. I could write a book on this topic. Привет из города Швебиш Халь :)

    Have lived in Germany and now am in the States. My sister-in-law lives with her family in Germany. She's in Nuremburg--near you. They have a place in Switzerland and also in Spain. She isn't happy about the so common grey co!d weather there. I think you are smart. Deciding to try to see/do the best you can is a good way to survive. A lot is mindset. I have friends who comp!ain about their husbands and my regular response is kind of like you said about initially really wanting go to Germany....remember when all you wanted was to get married and spend your life with the guy who is now your husband? 14:50 "....the diet is terrible...90% of the restaurants in our German town only serve fries with sausage and schnitzel..." That's what you say while sitting at a table in front of a sumptuous coffee with cream and a cake that looks very delicious. A small town in Baveria is not Germany. Maybe there is not the country in the world, where differences are bigger. That living in the provincr also means a different lifestile, that is luniversal fact. So Cologne, a city of music and media, where Tina Turner meat her husband, a producer for EMI, or Reeperbahn in Hamburg that are different Germanys. But province in Baveria nowerdays is much more openmindet Than Some decates ago! But if they spend a lot of time at home you only have the chance to find friends who invite you Home. So what I see in front og my eyes is making food for each other knitting in wintertime and share a car to Muenchen Airport for a flight to the Canaries.

    Yes, Switzerland is beautiful (and really clean everywhere ;-)), of course especially the breathtaking mountain landscapes. But there is also a smaller corner in Germany that has something similar to offer and lots of low mountain ranges that also have their charms. In addition, there is a little more landscape and culture than Switzerland ;-)) Maybe you have already seen this video ua-cam.com/video/ZbTn9G4bhOQ/v-deo.html or a similar one? If not, then I would recommend it. However, it only shows a very small part of what Germany is all about.
