DIY Galley Drawer! 😁 | Episode 73
How good is it when you finally get around to a job that you've been putting off for ages!? This week on All The Stars I finally replaced the old plastic fantastic cutlery organiser that had been "just hanging in there", with a bigger, much better wooden one! Learn how the new drawer is made, then fitted with new sturdy stainless steel runners, YAY!. You'll see what I mean when I say it's a massive improvement! Twice the storage area and it even looks flasher (did you just say flasher, Jess? 😁..)

Thanks for sharing this useful video. I am going to do the same on my mini 33
Looks good mate! I am in the process of redoing the entire galley in mine.
Thank you Carlos, looking forward to seeing your progress!
What a great Artist mate 🥰🤩, looks amazing and SEXY too (The Draw) 🤗
Thanks mate! (You too)
Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing ,it was definatly pretty cool
Oh one day we will catch one ❤ we live on a boat in Australia 😊
Thanks and I hope so for you too!
Hey Jesse, left a note on your boat earlier, would like to catch up while we are in Bermagui, Kaz n Daz Kettering
No way! That's great news, how long are you about Bermagui for?
I’ll be about later today Daz and Kaz!
We're here for at least a week
hawken looked to be doing a great job steering and the crumble looked amazing, those cliffs at the start were mystic
Thanks Hayden, means a lot and yes you are right!
Inspiration... I'm just about to add one to my boat!
Let me know how you go James!
Great video thank you for making it. Looks like your motor has extra stainless bits, pipe work, exhaust elbow etc. Loctite 77124 Nickel Anti-Seize would be a good product to use on those stainless exhaust studs. Red threadlocker softens at about 150'C
Thanks Peter, tip appreciated. Yes shes been very well marinised by the previous owner. Stay tuned, and thanks for the comment! Jesse
need a bit of silly stuff... such a serious world out there
Those cliffs looked epic! 👌
Well done jess and crew.
@@barneyscott8634 thanks for the kind words!
Did you drain all the fuel from the bowl drain plug ? It was not clear from the video. But, if you did, one of the nice things about razors is top loading filters so you don’t really need to drain it all … 1mm below the top lip works just fine. You likely already know this but posted just in case.
Thanks for the comment, yes I did drain the bowls. Everything was super clean, but it’s good to check it all works. Cheers for the tips!
Well done! Thank you! BTW awesome background music that gave the video a more authentic cruising feel.
Thanks for the kind words!!
looking good jessie. heading back already 😢
Yes it’s true, but more boat projects coming and a ripper crew again on the way upstream
Thanks for sharing. When you sanded the blisters back, before applying the International antifoul, what paint did you apply.
Hi Paul, thanks for the comment. I used a two part epoxy primer - it’s an international product. I hope that helps your quest!
you made good use of the opportunity to work on the boat in the yard. dani liked the fruit hammock. love those multi trip bunnings days ;P
@@hthring absolutely and thanks for the comment! Hope you guys are going great ❤️
Thank you for tips & tricks on the Sole Cooling System. Would like to remind all collegue sailors to refresh cooling liquid regularly (at least yearly I would say). Using a product that applies to all specific engine elements (especially metals). Likely you will not find the exact product advised to in your engine manual. Corrosion problems can get as far as an eat-off of the alluminium cooler reservoir itself.
Thanks for the feedback Michel, very good point you raise! Cheers mate!

@@AllTheStarsSailingThanks for your reply. I hope there will be no problem with the price. We can talk about the price a bit if you have time.
Hi, i'm confused with the pronunciation of Maria Island. I think Julie Andrews (AKA Maria) may not have responded to her name pronounced that way. Or is this the Tasmanian way of pronouncing it?
Hi mate, the locals seemed to call it Maria (as in Mar-eye-ya) but that’s just my take. Ask a tassie local perhaps?!
@@AllTheStarsSailing cheers
Seriously worth the 24 hrs from Lakes Entrance to Bermy just for the sourdough.
Hi, if I may ask what is the yellow bolt on top the T screw? under your opinion the metallic cover is is hard to remove ( below the T) I see don't have a thread, how to make it obey ( plastic hammer from below nor extractor?
Day, yeah the brass T handle is threaded, and the cap sits on an o-ring seal easily removed!
what a great trip ! looking forward to this one, well done guys ! 🎉
Many thanks Hayden! Just preparing for the return leg this week 🥰 thanks for your comments and energy!
Oh man... I don't think I'd last long out there 😂
You’d be fine Dave, fellow wind buff!
Good vid mate, will be doing something similar later this year on my bros boat (Melb to Kettering)
Thanks Carlos, lemme know if you need crew!
@@AllTheStarsSailing for sure ill let you know. Now we gotta arrange for a day sail sometime!
What's happening with Rach?
That’s a fair question, I put out a video on patreon start of the year mate explaining our situation. Go the free week and tune out after that
@@AllTheStarsSailing Ah, OK. I wasn't aware of that, sorry to hear it.

Hey. Shitty sound effects are pretty shit.
it can be expensive but worth it for piece of mind from fall and fire to not have trees too close, they are living things though that are necessary to our environment, but one must realise that almost everywhere you go or have a house in australia is land that would have been cleared, so taking out a few more when necessary is just following that decision and cant really be compared to the wide spread clearing that was done for all our agriculture/industry which has been in many circumstances about making surplus profit over supplying our needs.
Well said Hayden.
Yes indeed. The rural paddocks in the entire country, have each got a tall eucalypt or two still standing, but no-one is replanting a sapling or two, which is needed to replace, the old, old trees, which will eventually leave a huge gap. Farmers eagerly burn firewood, from that good ol' Redgum, when it dies, but never replace the majesty of trees, which 'serves the earth well'.... 🤔
So good to see Rach back in action. And in keeping with the innuendo, that episode gave me wood...
Excellent ! That was our desired outcome 😂

Great carpentry work, well explained. A course for people who don't have much to do with crafts. You can see how many work steps are necessary to manufacture a door. Thank you Jesse. Greetings from Switzerland
What book was that ?
That was Allan Lucas’ Cruising Guide to Queensland “Cruising the Coral Coast” 😀
Air tight, shock horror!!

I should be in a video. Just saying
Including me
Why aren’t all the employees in this?
Massive oversight sorry Ev 😍
I can do better
Jesse, can you share the link to the yacht hub listing ? 😊
How has it gone over the last year? I wonder if you need a dedicated windlass battery closer the bow to reduce voltage loss - this will result in intermittent loss of power. Did you seal the inside walls of the four holes by over size drilling, filling and drilling the correct size- you didn’t mention that. Also I wonder if the size windlass is big enough for your size of boat, it looks small/ not very powerful, which would strain and heat it up, burning the oil inside the unit. I’m doing the same job this week, on the same size boat as yours, but replacing a unit similar to yours or bigger with one double the size with the addition of a rope winch drop on top . Anyway, nice job.
Hi Andrew. Thanks for subscribing and your comment. We knew that the 850 was at the upper end of its spec, but the Cavs 37 weight about 7.5 tonne and Muir said we should be fine, so long as we didnt overload the motor (i.e winch the boat up on the chain). We also ran very heavy duty cable (50mm square) to the winch via the reversing solinoid. wanted an isolator close to the battery to reduce dead draw. So far the system has been running well, I will be putting up an episode soon about refurbing the paint on the winch recently, and why/how. Stay tuned, and thanks for your tips. Keep them coming!
I was thinking, the jumper looks unique, an interesting pattern. Didn't look like machine knitting!?Damn fine work, Janet...fabulous result.
Youd have to be pretty happy with life to have a jumper knitted for you :)
a well made episode jesse ! looked lovely
Thanks Hayden, episode 60 is even better thanks to your tips on audio levels. I’m now a master of audio mastering 😂🎛️
LOL 23 years ago we were at Refuge and our tired Suzuki outboard died, so we took it ashore and worked on it to no avail. At Batemans Bay we bought a new 2 hp Yamaha for $500 which is still going 23 years later. We call it our “one pull wonder” Happy sailing Peter and Louise Ikati
Classic story Peter! We could start calling it outboard refuge repair bay! How good the yammie is still a goer! Cheers
And we were sailing a cavalier 32
Good to see you guys having fun.
Thank you Stephen!
