I’m old enough (58) to remember when vhs first pushed Betamax off the radar. I remember the ma and pa stores and corporate locations like Movie Gallery and Blockbuster. It was so relaxing to just go and browse, and pick 1 or 2 to actually rent. It sucks how this modern day social media has ruined so much.

Every time I watch these amazing Rare Finds videos, I get a major hunger to go thrifting at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store, Goodwill, and Value Village. The thrill of the hunt is real. :)

Ive been finding that my local thrift store put vhs tapes in the free bin we have out front. I was able to snag some. Its a shame they aren't looking at them with any value. Its first come first serve but nobody's touching them it seems like. I found star trek recorded with commercials i really enjoyed it especially the commercials.

I have this same CRT. It’s one of the few flatscreen CRTs with virtually perfect linearity, which makes playing side scrollers a joy. No wonky funhouse mirror warping. Looks like mine isn’t a fluke, yours looks good too. I’d say Phillips CRTs are underrated!

Hey, update! I finally found a vcr! Made a fb marketplace post for the first time. It's a samsung Vr5260 with original remote its in perfect condition. The owner kept it stored very well! I also started a vhs 📼 collection! Just enjoyed some recorded tapes from a thrift store with commercials earlier;)

I have one of these but no remote. It just has a blue screen and I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get it to the input setting without a remote, but haven't had any luck.

Hey Orion! I have to share some good news 🎉 i made mt very first post on Facebook market this morning looking for a VCR. 2 hours later i get a message from a gentleman who has one for $20. Here is the kicker! Its a samsung vr5260 with the original remote. Its very clean and works like new! He took very good care of it and stored it well. Im super happy. You told me not to give up looking and here i am. Now to start a vhs 📼 collecting journey!!! I have jaws and a few more like pokemon the first movie in a rental case. Thats a start!! Thanks again 😊

Most of these synthesizer sounds were done on two types: A Moog and an ARP. Both types are here on UA-cam and if you give a listen, you can hear the same sounds that came from the TV series.

I wanted a crt for my old consoles. As soon as I saw this CRT existed I TOTALLY wanted it. I actually got one of these back in the summer, but It didnt come with the box or remote and its got some yellowing. Your's is beautiful!

I have about 4 thousand VHS tapes

Having a late model crt is really good for knowing it will have many years to come. My latest model is from 2007. Right when they were getting away from the curved screen we grew up on. Then, of course, they transitioned into flat panel tvs. Hope you enjoy your time with family man.

That Philips CRT is a keeper! I had one as a kid but with only composite and s-video. Picture quality is amazing, and component inputs are a nice bonus.

10:29 'Naked Lunch' was directed by Canadian director, David Cronenberg ('The Fly', 'Videodrome', 'Scanners', 'The Brood', 'Shivers', Stephen King's 'The Dead Zone', etc.) and it's interesting that the VHS is a rental from Food N Stuff on Kingston Road, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. My last girlfriend lives in Scarborough and that tape made it into your possession all the way from Canada. Amazing! Plus, one of my college classmates back in the day was a cousin of David Cronenberg, so he got to see the creatures and sets during the filming of 'Naked Lunch' in Toronto. :)

1:10 I can think of two really spectacular reasons to enjoy 'Lifeforce'. That's a lucky score on VHS. I have it as a Blu-ray steelbook. ;)

These short 'Show 'n Tell' style videos are a lot more fun to watch than so much garbage on television these days. Excellent work and may you keep up the grind to find many more rare finds! :)

Hey, I'm not sure if i missed it, but do you happen to have any Sansui crt tvs? I ask because i have a sansui DTV2700 model if you wanna look it up. Its a very late model crt from 2007. But im gonna have to get the geometry correct on it. Great video, as always! Keep up the grind!
