Wearing gloves while handling antique books and manuscripts is one of the biggest misconceptions about this topic.
Interestingly enough, wearing gloves is actually more harmful than not wearing them. This has been proven by science and many experienced professionals. You can look it up on any of the below websites if you'd like to do some more research on this:
- Library of Congress
- The National Trust
- The Tudor Society
- Portland State University Library
- Smithsonian Institution
- British Library
- The National Archives
And many others
I appreciate any concerns you may have, but it's best to handle these amazing items with dry and clean hands.

    The problem in this story is that God did not ask Elijah to do that - he was only supposed to present himself to Ahab and end the drought. This ultimately leads us to the "still, small voice" passage where God tries to demonstrate to Elijah that the big demonstration is not what He wanted. Elijah still didn't get it which resulted in his career being cut short.

      @chadmccain2965 You would be incorrect on your assessment. The text doesn’t leave any room for your interpretation. It tells us that fire came down from the sky. That’s not something you can do with chemicals. “Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.” (1 Kings 18:38). So, the only two positions you can logically take is that the event itself didn’t take place or it did happen the way the Bible describes it.

    As a devout Pagan, hearing these apocryphal stories is quite interesting, and always sparks interest in how and from where this story originated. Was this written in the Jewish Bible, (known as the Old Testament in Christianity) written between 1200 and 165BC, or the Christian New Testament (circa 1st century AD)? It is truly unfortunate that many stories in the Christian Bible have been altered and adapted to suit the political/religious trends of the ruling Popes and religious leaders over the centuries.

      @@kurtweiand7086 I cannot, in truth, have Faith in any God, that claims to have created all things, Heaven and Hell, and every living creature, and commands unconditional love, and obedience, and yet will doom you to a life in Hell itself, if you do not repent and submit. When my time comes, I will proudly stand before Anubis, and watch as my heart is weighed against the feather, and, no matter the outcome, accept my Fate, knowing that the judgement is just, and fair, without malice or deception.

    • @damiansmith1556
      @damiansmith1556 2 дні тому

      It’s interesting that you’ve come to this conclusion as I’ve come to the complete opposite. The historical validity of the Bible comes down to the validity of the New Testament for me because if the death and resurrection is true then the Hebrew Bible or the Septuagint is confirmed as it hinges on what Jesus preached. With almost 6000 manuscript of the New Testament all agreeing to a high degree of what the first century writers actually said, I have to ask what do you think was changed since then?

    • @njeunguenjionwou2210
      @njeunguenjionwou2210 2 дні тому

      @@northernskys I like your honesty. Out of love though I'd like to suggest you another route. How does the fact that Jesus' resurrection being a real event that indeed took place and has been confirmed even by atheists sound to you? And how about the fact that his death, burial and resurrection was prophesied in the old Testament?

    • @northernskys
      @northernskys 2 дні тому

      @@njeunguenjionwou2210Indeed, the Old Testament does, on several occasions, mention the coming of a Messiah, although doesn't mention Jesus by name, naturally. As for The Resurrection itself, although there is some circumstantial and apocryphal evidence that Jesus did exist in the timeframe mentioned, there is no formal Roman records in existence to cement this evidence. Even the Gospels differ on how, and by who, it was discovered. Some say Mary Magdalene, some don't mention Mary, just "women going to the tomb", others leave out the reference to women, and just say one or two of The Apostles. So, no, unfortunately, , in truth, for your Faith, there is no solid, real, evidence that the Resurrection, happened as written. Even supposed letters, and documents, attributed to Pontius Pilate, about Jesus, his trial, his execution, etc., have been identified as being written by various authors, as between 200 AD, and 500 AD, to satisfy the desire of early Christians to know more about their Saviour, including his early childhood. Much has been written, but much is just stories. But thank you for your interest in my Salvation. The route that you have suggested, has been, in various ways over the years, suggested many times before, by my Muslim friends, my Jewish friends, and by my Christian friends. But to no avail, as my Faith in the Old Gods is quite strong. But thank you anyway. May your God bless you with all things pleasant, and enjoyable, and may you live a long, and happy, life.

The Greek word for Amen is: “ἀμήν” which means: at the end - so it is, so be it, may it be fulfilled. It was a custom, which passed over from the synagogues to the Christian assemblies, that when he who had read or discoursed, had offered up solemn prayer to God, the others responded Amen, and thus made the substance of what was uttered their own. You really need to learn how to research before you make such ignorant comments.

    I'll never understand why so many people think these stories are true. I realize that they were indoctrinated as children and these stories make them feel good but they were wiling to give up the Santa Clause fantasy, why not the undetectable friend in the sky fantasy? Santa even had more evidence.

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 4 дні тому

      @bigralphsmith why you don’t understand is entirely in your control. I’d recommend you do a lot of research to disprove the Bible. First off, the Bible is the most historically accurate book from antiquity. There is an unbelievable amount of evidence to support it (way more than there is for Santa Clause). There’s historical accuracy, archaeological evidence, internal consistency, manuscript evidence, and geographical sites (and many more). If you’re truly looking for answers to tough questions, I would love to have a discussion. But if not and you just want to start an argument, I won’t waste my time or yours. Thanks for your comment!

    • @BigRalphSmith
      @BigRalphSmith 4 дні тому

      @@SacredWritingsCollectibles 1) I assume you know what the word "unfalsifiable" means? 2) Spider-Man comic books contain some historical accuracy, real-world evidence, and they are internally consistent. Do all those things combined mean Spider-Man is a real person? 3) You presented an argument that you then say you don't want to have. Interesting. The answer to the "tough" question of why religions propagate themselves isn't that tough. You seem to be indicating that there is something that you understand about why people hold on to some fantasies while letting go of others as they mature. By all means, expound.

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 4 дні тому

      @bigralphsmith I have had many debates exactly like the one you are I are about to start. And it almost always ends the same way. You can look through my other shorts and see for yourself. It goes like this: 1. I post my video (didn’t ask you to comment). 2. Someone comments with something about how the Bible isn’t true or fiction (like you just did). 3. I attempt to challenge that person or refute their claims. 4. They usually end up just telling me how stupid I am, how dumb the Bible is, and that God isn’t real. So, as I originally said, if you want to have a civil conversation or discussion I would love to do that. But I don’t want to sit here and spend time writing to someone who doesn’t want to actually understand but just wants to have a digital argument about how “stupid” the Bible is. And you never said whether you want to truly understand or just argue. So once you specify, I will engage. The Bible says to not cast my pearls before pigs. That’s why I only want to engage with people who truly want an answer to these questions.

    • @BigRalphSmith
      @BigRalphSmith 4 дні тому

      @@SacredWritingsCollectibles Any debate we might have isn't for your benefit as most rarely are for the purposes of changing a participant's opinions. My objective would only to be to put your "reasoning" on display for others to consider. The Christian bible is only one small part of an overall larger failure to reason. What I notice most is that apologists such as yourself never listen to or seriously consider any objections that anyone who doesn't share their beliefs might have while nearly everyone doing the objecting seriously considers and works through what the apologists have to say. "Faith" over all, basically. Unfortunately, what they have to say, without fail, is just a repeat of the same old worn out and long debunked claims and assertions. Apologist arguments work great on those who already share their beliefs but people who aren't so gullible, not so much. Whether this becomes a "debate" remains to be seen. Just once, I'd love to have such an exchange where no one uses fallacious arguments. You know it's bad when all of the fallacies in the arguments that apologists constantly use already have well established names. Do you have something that you think might be "new"? Maybe something that's actually compelling to someone who doesn't already share your beliefs?

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 4 дні тому

      @BigRalphSmith thank you for explaining that! You seem to be a respectful and logical person. Thus, I believe it would be somewhat advantageous to have a civil conversation/debate. However, I agree with you that it’s not for us as much as it is for other people reading this as I don’t believe we will change each other’s minds either. Now, to your second comment, you compared the Bible to the Spider-Man comic books. I think that’s a very interesting comparison. You talk about logic and Christians using fallacious arguments. However, your Spider-Man remark is a logical fallacy as you made a grave category error. Comparing the Bible with a comic book demonstrates your ignorance on this matter. Nowhere in the Marvel Comics do they make the claim that they are real historical events, are the inspired word of God, or offer the way to eternal life. Therefore, your mistake lies in your false analogy/comparison. It would have been more accurate for you to say something like, “what makes the Bible more true than the Nuremberg Chronicles or Anglo-Saxon mythology?” Furthermore, you mentioned that Christians use the same kind of arguments that are outdated or that we are indoctrinated. Yet atheists abandon all reason and science when they try and claim that everything came from nothing, i.e. the Big Bang theory (emphasis on the theory). Also, I could same the thing about atheists being indoctrinated by public schools teaching evolution as true science. And the reason why Christians use these arguments is because they have stood the test of time for centuries and centuries. You said, “The Christian bible is only one small part of an overall larger failure to reason.” I find this a weak argument. Your presupposition is that atheists have all the answers and that the Bible isn’t reasonable. But the Bible has also stood the test of time and has never been disproven. Again, the atheistic idea that everything came from nothing. Doesn’t sound very reasonable to me nor to anyone who can think logically. I’d also like to challenge you with a few arguments that I would like you to disprove. As I have never heard an atheist offer a good or reasonable response to these questions. Keep in mind that Christianity does offer answers to these questions whether you agree with them or not the Bible still gives the answers to them. 1. Where does morality come from? 2. How did the world begin? 3. What are a few things that the Bible gets wrong that can be proven without a shadow of a doubt?

      @kussamkussam Yeah, it’s an amazing story! From my reading and research I can’t seem to find many people who are talking about it being a literal event or not. But from my research, I’m leaning towards it being a vision and not a literal event that took place. Primarily because Ezekiel was in Babylon and the passage says that God took him to a valley in a vision. I’m open to being wrong on that but I need to study it more. But what I know for sure is that this vision demonstrated God’s promise and sovereignty and power to restore life and the dispersed people of Israel. I’m happy to provide more information if you’d like!

      In context, God is showing the prophet Ezekiel that neither death nor life… can separate us from the love of God and His promise in Christ Jesus our Lord. God , who is the Giver of life can turned dry bones into living beings! With God, all things are possible! Just like how Our Lord Jesus Christ raised the dead during His life on earth.. Luke 7:11-17, Matthew 9:23-25 & John 11:38-44 So then, The Valley Of The Dry Bones is too, what The Lord says to Ezekiel, "Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look how they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope has perished; we are cut off.’ Therefore, prophesy and say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says: I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them, my people, and lead you into the land of Israel. You will know that I am the Lord, my people, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I am the Lord. I have spoken, and I will do it. This is the declaration of the Lord.’” Ezekiel 37:11-14

      @moshdee456 yes, I can definitely see your point. However, the text doesn’t leave much room for that interpretation. In the passage we can see that it says, “When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, he was dead. But when I looked at him closely in the morning, behold, he was not the child that I had borne." (1 Kings 3:21) As a father of two young boys (2 and 5 months) I can say that I would definitely be able to tell is someone switched out one of my children. And even more so my wife. Thanks so much for your comment!

    Always thought this story was odd. What the heck was the other woman planning to do with half a baby?

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 11 днів тому

      @stalfos85 Yes, it’s definitely an interesting story and can be a bit confusing. However, when properly understood it makes perfect sense. Essentially, the woman whose baby died would rather both of them have no child than the other woman having a child. This would be a result of jealousy, anger and of course grief. However, God gave Solomon the wisdom to know that the real mother would rather the baby be alive with another mother than be dead. So, it’s not as much about what they would do with one half, rather the result was to show who the true mother was. But ultimately it doesn’t matter what they “would have done” with a half of the baby. Because thankfully it never happened and so it’s a non issue. Thanks for your comment!

      It didn't make any sense to me, either, until I started following politics. For current events, read some of the political drama around the hurricane relief in North Carolina. You will find people celebrating the devastating hurricane, the loss of human lives, the loss of even more property and livelihoods, because of what it MIGHT mean for the election next month. Human beings are selfish and cruel. We will hurt each other to get a result we like. And a lot of us don't like to admit to lying.

      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 15 днів тому

      @boltkiller96 Yes, amen to that! And just in case there was any confusion. My comments about the Queen saying Daniel had the spirit of the gods, was simply quoting from the text of Daniel. Because the Babylonians were a polytheistic society, they would commonly refer to anything spiritual as being from the “gods”. However, we know from Scripture that there is only one God, as you rightly pointed out.

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 15 днів тому

      @douglasleighton Yes, I’ve definitely heard of that explanation and interpretation before. However, the biblical text doesn’t leave room for that interpretation. The Hebrew word does not denote red coloring such as might be seen when red clay is washed downstream, but denotes actual substance, i.e., blood. Furthermore, Pharaohs magicians were able to copy this miracle on a smaller scale (note: they weren’t able to undo what God did with the Nile). But this would make sense why Pharaoh wasn’t impressed and didn’t let the Israelites go free until the 10th plague.

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 15 днів тому

      @lahainalongboarder That’s a great question. The translation is a bit different. One of the main differences is the older kind of English that was used. Below are the respective translations of Exodus 10:22. “Then Mofes ftretched forthe his hand toward heauen, and there was a blake darcknes in all the land of Egypt thre dayes.” - 1560 Geneva “So Moses reached out with his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.” - NASB

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 18 днів тому

      @user-yj3pg2er2t I’m not sure how much research you’ve done on this topic? But it doesn’t seem like much. There are two primary views on which Pharaoh was ruling during the time of the Exodus. The late date view is that Ramesses II was ruling around the 13th century BC. The early view is that Amenhotep II was ruling around the 15th century BC. Thus, biblical scholars are divided on this date. However, the biblical evidence and timeline support an early date putting Amenhotep II as the likely Pharaoh of the Exodus. I’d highly recommend you watch this video where a biblical archaeologist goes over this very topic in great detail: ua-cam.com/video/2JusQxiTXnE/v-deo.htmlsi=HsngE59Jp8RNUKPc

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 13 днів тому

      @slipstreemngames2725 well the Bible is the most historically accurate book in history so I’m going to trust what it says over what some secular historians say (that doesn’t mean I ignore historical evidence). Also, I’d be interested to see what evidence you have? Because Scripture teaches that the Israelites lived and worked in Egypt for a long time. However, after there was a new pharaoh, they were put into slavery. So when you provide your proof make sure it aligns with the proper timeline. Additionally, you said that the “Jews were made to work and it was unbearable.” So why would they be forced to work that hard and why would they need permission from Pharaoh to leave Egypt? If they weren’t slaves they should have been able to leave whenever they wanted or just stop working. Your logic doesn’t seem to add up…

    Ephesians 5:20 that's how we're supposed to pray

    • @SacredWritingsCollectibles
      @SacredWritingsCollectibles 19 днів тому

      @stclairjones815 yes, you’re right that Ephesians tells us how to pray. However, the Bible says lots more about prayer than what Paul says in Ephesians. The verse you quoted is primarily about thanksgiving. But as I mentioned in my video, Jesus gave this prayer as a model or outline. So it starts by praising God, give thanks to God, ask Him for things and so on. Thus, we must take Scripture in its entirety to ensure we understand what the Lord is telling us. Thanks for your comment!

    My dad said the Lord's prayer with me at bedtime every night since I can remember. He passed away when I was 12, and my mother passed when I was 25. Of everything they left behind for me in this world, this prayer is the most valuable thing I inherited. An anchor in the righteousness of the Lord while I remain in the world. The Lord is my father now, and I thank Him for this treasure.
