Argo Taurus 650 Restored Walk Around
Переглядів 1,3 тис.4 роки тому
A quick walk around of a restored Argo Taurus 650.
is that an opposed twin briggs on there? very cool, never saw one of these 3 wheelers before and I love the oddball stuff.
Yep, Briggs and Stratton OT 656cc Taurus650.com
What an amazing machine
The AMT 600 is such a curiosity nowadays. eBay listings often erroneously refer to it as a "Gator", even though it isn't- the AMT was the predecessor of the Gator, and all the AMT models (600, 622, 626) only had 5 wheels as opposed to the Gator's 4 or 6 wheel configurations. As a predecessor to the Gator, it seems that it was generally disliked once the Gator came out, particularly for its chain drive (as opposed to the Gator's belt drive). At the time though, there really wasn't anything else like it, and it seems that it's gained a better reputation in the past 5 years, especially with homesteaders and small farmers who can't find anything else as useful and affordable (though parts for it are increasingly difficult to find). I used an AMT 600 almost every day for 6 years when I worked on a farm, and it was every bit as good as the Gator I experienced later on. We had an original model from 1989, and a later model from circa 1991, and the later model was slightly better, although it was a bit wider. Regardless, the AMT 600 remains an oddity today, and I think a lot of people will say that they'd like the AMT to make a comeback in an improved form.
As far as I was told, JD coined the term Gator based on the look of the amt 600.
@@MattDragonTamer I wasn't aware of that, it does superficially look like a gator's mouth with the front mudguard.
Thank you so much for uploading this!
Lol . Is this from 2002?
10 years earlier!
@@Berserkr01 BTW, they have now discontinued the TS . It's no longer available. 🥺🥺🥺
@@Berserkr01😂 I was going to guess early 90s or even maybe 80s
Thank you so much! Very education and information. Can’t wait to gator away! 🐊
This is classic! Love it haha!
Hello I actually know how to drive a gator which is pretty cool The one in the thumbnail Is the one I really want
Nice work and great unit! I guess she doesn’t like to get wet?
Belt drive case seal needs work... On the to do list.
I love my AMT600! They are tough. They can handle the load with ease. Mud is not a problem when you lock in all 4 back wheels. It is just a great machine.
That hard hat guy from Louisiana sounds EXACTLY like Mitch Hedburg
Hey I've got a Taurus 650 just like this but I can't get the front inside half of the pulley off the Crankshaft how did you get it off?
It spins counterclockwise off...
You can find all the info you need here... Www.taurus650.com
@@MattDragonTamer ok thanks I will give that a try
The front pulley spins off and the rear one slides off as it has a key way.
Yeah I got the back one off it was easy I just didn't know how to get the front one off but now I do thanks for the helpful information.
awesome finds and great work on the restorations
Never heard of them
Made by Argo in 1985-87 and only 322 were made.
How did you hook up the headlight?
Guy Soileau I am running a CDI 12v system, however the original 6v system is hooked up like the CT70. The light wireing can be found in the repair manual.
Nice restoration! I've got a green one, just got it running today, it's been sitting in my shed for decades.
Hillbillyreefer thanks for the comment. Check out my website www.taurus650.com you can register and order parts if needed. I suggest you treat all parts like gold until I confirm that I have that part still in stock.
MattDragonTamer thanks Matt I will do that. We've owned it since new, actually were dealers at the time. The back belt pulley seems to be seized up going into the transmission. Other than that decals and badges and the wing nut latch to hold the jockey box shut are all I can see missing.
Hillbillyreefer ok, register on my site and send me your list... I can then email you some info if needed.
My atc 70 goes faster than that old boat
Very Nice
I'll ghost ride the shit out that lil whip. lol
awesome work!
Hey man, You did a wonderful job on this bike. I have a 1973 honda ATC 70 3-Speed and the 1985 Honda ATC 70 4 Speed. I plan on rebuilding them both from the ground up!
Thanks! It took a while to do, but thanks to hondaatc70.com and ebay, I got all the parts I needed.
