Mothman
Hi Barney, can you please recommend a good book with both vegetative keys and keys on how to recognise them by flowers too?
Great stuff thanks!
Wonderful
I do like Dandelions, the heads of them line the roads around us, so making space for them in my tiny garden is definitely a no. I will however grow many wildflowers and plant them out into our village wildlife area and chuchyard to increase diversity, it is working.
This video was so poorly titled. Do you think anyone is going to search up "Wild bees part 3"???? Instead you should have titled it: "Building solitary bee hotel bricks" or something along those lines.
please don't put straw in the lembricks it's not good for the bees when he's grabbing .
Your supposed to put straw in these bricks it keeps the bricks together and bee do use them and love making a winter home in them.
Thank you for this inspiring video. I believe, more and more garden owners will follow your example 🙏🏼🫶🏻
Thank you very much!
Great! Thank you!
Fantastic !
I planted Lithodora this year after watching your video - and they are mad for it! (Bee-Flies too)
Is any of those floers eddible?
I'll leave part of my backyard unmow this spring. My backyard is very shady
Kill all the wax moths pleaseeee
Excellent 👍
great video. thankyou! 🙂
Could you please start making new videos again? I have to say I love these videos. They have a very high educational value and teach you many things that can't easily be found on the Internet. So keep up the amazing work, I love it!!
Lithodora diffusa a.k.a Glandora diffusa - think I will plant some of these in my garden
Nature is the only answer. Society is cancer on this realm
Thank you, I too was looking forward to seeing part 3. Could you advise me, please; I do not appear to have the diversity of plants already in my lawn, what do you recommend? Many thanks, in anticipation!
I recommend that you give it a try. I had to let my lawn grow during lockdown as I was abroad and when I came back it was amazing how many species of grass and flowers had popped up seemingly from nowhere in three months. Now I let some parts go wild every year.
Beautiful I have some of The wildflower that pop Up in our lawn, didn't realize they were wildflowers, thought they We're just weeds

Love this! Thanks!
They are pretty
Moths have no right being as cute as they are.
Dandelions are a self regulating plant that is an indicator of the condition of the soil.
Thank you for the nature !!!
I would just let them grow
1:02 "butt fastly" 😂😂
You never did july?
There wasn't one sentence regarding "creating" the meadow.
Step 1. Dont mow your lawn
You don’t. That’s the whole purpose of the video. Let nature do it’s work.
Where can I get one these moth catchers?
It’s nice to see these species in their native range, they’re so invasive here in the US! Don’t let invasives go to seed, near wild areas.
I love this idea. I am in Torbay and was going to ask where yoy get the Loam from to make the bricks, but if you have a kit that would probably be better for a moment. Excellent 😁
Thanks for the video We’re designating 2/3 acres for tree planting and meadow flourishing
Thank you, that was very informative
Sorry to say mate but elephant hawkmoth is actually a small elephant hawkmoth
Such a great idea. Can't wait to make these with my kids 😅
7:08 That buff tip is very camouflaged!
Hi I just like to say a fantastic video on your pop up medal will be wildflowers absolutely fantastic I am starting my next year I'm going to do a small bit 1st to see how we gets on and then I love about a 1/2 an acre of feel to do and about a quarter of an acre to do so hopefully next year it will turn out alright thank you very Thank you for showing the video to us be safe😍😍❤❤👍
I saw a big moth in my trap. I do not know which species is it.
what i would find really helpful (anyone?) would be a (20 min+) video of ALL the various types of grasses. best of all would be a spilt screen, divided into four sub squares showing the following in each of the four quarters: 1: the (pre-flowering) foliage 2: plant with infloresence 3:close up of spikelets 4: the plant as it looks in winter and finally, full screen video footage of how the mature plant moves/sounds in a breeze (for grass gardeners).
yes it would be a labour of love and take a long time to do, but what a challenge. doing split screen with photographs would be the easy part...but collecting footage of All the grasses and how they move and sound when moved by wind or breeze, now that would take some doing !
Really beautiful, fascinating and engaging!
Excellent video, thanks for posting
All so beautiful thanks John, thanks also of course to Robbie.
Wow! What a great project! Thanks so much to everyone who made this possible. I have really enjoyed all 9 videos so far. I recorded the dawn chorus here in Midlothian, Scotland during lockdown on a little Zoom H2N audio recorder and it is absolutely lovely (I haven't recorded the dawn chorus before). There were all the usual garden birds and a few surprises too (sheep noises in the distance and a pair of ducks coming in to land in the burn) which made it even more delightful. There's even a few bees in there trying to convince me they are actually buzzing about my head! Having watched these videos I now realise I need to listen again for the Blackcap. It sounded quite familiar but I know the warblers can sound similar to a hobbyist. And as luck would have it I was about to look up the internet for some good Grass ID videos. So the one in this series is a great starting point. I really hope you can keep this project going so we can all enjoy the flora and fauna of Buckfastleigh over the year (at least 1 year!). Thanks again jb
Hey Barney, really good video. I'm just starting out learning grasses and I really enjoyed this :-)
Brilliant videos! I've just watched 1 & 2 (couldn't find the comments section on 1) and it's incredible how much I've picked up in such a short time. So very many thanks to you John and Robbie
