The ILA is on strike. Major ports across the east coast and gulf are shut down. Country imports and exports are at a standstill. Businesses are facing supply shortages. Will this bring back nationwide inflation? After negotiations over wage increases and protections against automation fell through, the ILA initiated a work stoppage affecting major supply chains for industries across the country...

Couldn't this happen to binance or coinbase??
In theory it could since the space is still mostly unregulated, but I seriously doubt those businesses would attempt fraud on that scale - too many eyes looking for red flags.
Great video and very informative. Much Appreciated
Happy to hear that! Appreciate the feedback and huge thanks for watching.
Deport all the illegals then u have millions of open houses
Great summary!
Excuse me for my poor English, the problem with ETF or Dividend's fund IS that the instrument loss the tax that the States reserve of the companies dividends received, the Fund or ETF received the net amount and loss the tax.
No worries at all - I follow what you're saying. Yes that's a great point! Dividend payments are not tax advantaged outside of special vehicles like retirement accounts. If optimizing someone's tax liability, it's much better for the company to retain that cash and reinvest in itself directly. Great comment!
Oof, totaling a car is rough, but the financial lessons are spot on! After my own accident, I learned the hard way about diminished value claims. If anyone in Elkridge needs help with that, Jareds Auto Appraisals made the process way smoother for me.
I love the disclaimer at the end. Very professional. Not many like you on youtube
Transparency in finance has always been a real problem. Doing my best to fight that!

Why there is no agent's commission fee? It is 2-4% right?
Yes! Thanks for bringing that up. Agent commissions are typically covered by the seller of the property. So from the POV of the buyer, not a cost to consider. But…that’s changing as of this year with the buyer having to compensate their agent if the seller does not want to. A great topic for a follow-up video!
SCHG FOR THE WIN🎉
Glad I watched your video, we had a similar scenario and I'm on the fence between settling with the insurance or keep my car and deal with obtaining a salvage title, huge car repairs, etc. I'm really annoyed coz my car too was reliable, low gas use, and still low mileage so it's hard for me to let go.
I guess you never really realize how attached you are to a vehicle until it's on the verge of being gone... If you settle with insurance, don't hesitate to do your own research and verify the offer is fair. If you keep the vehicle, consider ALL costs. Get the vehicle more thoroughly inspected for a better idea of what needs to be repaired and what might need to be repaired down the road as a result of the accident. And remember how the salvage title tanks resale value (if you aren't planning to drive the car until the wheels fall off). Sorry you're going through this too. Best of luck, and take care!
Thank you for sharing your experience and insight. My well-maintained 2012 Honda Fit Sport, with only 90,000 miles, was hit in the back. The at-fault driver’s insurance company declared it total loss and offered me $14k. While this amount seems reasonable, my wife and I are quite attached to our Fit, one of the best compact cars ever made, and are not ready to replace it. We're torn between accepting the settlement and getting the car fixed.
You're absolutely welcome. That's a tough one to lose - 90,000 miles is nothing for a well-made Honda. If you go the repair route, just make sure the due diligence is top notch. Get EVERYTHING inspected for more realistic repair costs. Even reliable Hondas can become money pits after a major accident. Best of luck!
@@alex.herrera Thank you so much for replying and the sound advice.
They’ll just readjust & claim the report overstated the amount of jobs like they typically do 😂💀
Sound like a robot.
Haha. Being in front of a camera is a challenge. Appreciate the feedback though!
Yet, they are NOT ACCURATE.
Yeah those massive downward revisions really did a disservice for the public’s trust in that data. That said, we did have these last two months revised upward. So I’ll take the reports one at a time (it’s some of the only data we got unfortunately). Thanks for commenting!
😅😅😅... 10% in the pipeline
Great explanation! Important to consider your expected returns (like 8% for s&p500) is based on the average. It’s not a promised return
Yes! Extremely important consideration - any given time period can result in a negative return (even for the S&P 500).
What a needlessly complicated way of saying when you invest money you can lose it over time it doesn’t just always make money
Appreciate the feedback. Take care!
My brain ain't braining...
Haha. Anything I can clarify?
Wth i dont understand?!?
Is there something I could explain better? I realize there’s some context missing.
Good to see one of your videos Alex. I would love to see a long form video on how you plan on (if at all) changing your investment strategy with the upcoming election
Dalton great to hear from you! Noted... I can't say I'd do anything too drastic given where asset prices are, but an interesting topic nonetheless! I have a few anecdotes worth sharing from interactions I've had with car dealers and mortgage brokers. They have pretty strong feelings about this election... to say the least.
I heard costco is being over run with ppl stocking up
Damn, not again. lol I got to do my usual grocery run today, I’ll scope it out 🧐
Thanks for the breakdown Alex
You’re very welcome!
Hey, your voice is absolutely built for talking and narrating, that alone completely held my attention for this video, you should use the hell out of this advantage :)
Appreciate you :) And thanks for watching!
Great explanation! My take: A rational market with full information that is at equilibrium will result in a perfect correlation of risk and reward. Missing information, irrational actors and new or niche products (that are not yet at equilibrium) may deviate a bit. I think it finally made sense to me. Thank you!
Great take! 100% correct - perfect information available to all stakeholders will theoretically result in risk premiums that exactly align with the risk profiles of individual assets and asset classes. I love these types of contributions, so thank you for commenting! Take care!
Great video!
Subbed right away. Too few people make finance content on these ambiguous topics. It’s all “buy this hot stock now”
I appreciate the sub! I’m a big believer in focusing most of the conversation on fundamental concepts - and then hopefully the information can help individuals make the best decisions for themselves. I think that also improves the chances someone spreads an enthusiasm for learning about this stuff. But anyways, thanks again for your support! Take care!
Another short overview of a fundamental concept in finance, economics, and investing - Risk vs Reward is foundational to our decision-making! If you like these simplified lessons, share what topics you'd like to see next (I'm thinking either 'compound interest' or 'inflationary supply & demand'). Thanks for watching everyone!
What's- 0.50 % lol Nothing
You're right you're right. It does seem like very little (and in the grand scheme of things it is), but I do think markets & consumers are meaningfully less reactionary to a .25% vs .50% cut. It's all about their expectations of the future - an aggressive cut right off the bat says a lot about where we could be going. Thanks for commenting!
Just in time for the election.
I just love how they gaslight us "everything is fantastic" because that's EXACTLY what doubling the standard rate cut says.
Yeah, they’re obviously concerned about being behind the curve again. The next jobs report is going to be important. If unemployment falls in line with the previous two months, I think they could’ve done a quarter point and been ok.
No, they’re trying to get Cruella Harris elected
Inflation is worse than people want to claim it is... If you go by the dollar value calculators, the dollar has half the buying power that it did in 1996... But here's the problem, in 1996, I could go to the gas station with a 5 in my pocket, get a 20oz soda and 2 candy bars, and leave with about 3 dollars in change... If I try that today, it would cost me nearly 3 times as much... Hmm, the math isn't mathing...
Right… it’s one thing for overall inflation to be moderated near the Fed’s target, it’s another thing when the categorical breakdown of inflation shows rates that wages just can’t keep up with. Education, health care, housing (and in our current situation food). A big reason why I focus on “affordability” metrics instead of only price levels. Take care and thanks for commenting!
Trump is going to have them slash that shit to 2% when he gets into office
Haha I could see it. However deep they’re going to cut, I just hope they do it slowly. We can’t afford worse inflation than what we have now. Thanks for commenting!
"...their confidence in inflation not coming back." I call BS. Inflation since 2021 has already been rolled up into the economy. It is hurting America. It's still here and hasn't gone away, so that's why I call BS on the "not coming back" part of it. A small steak in the grocery store is still $30, and it SHOULD be under $8. It's still almost $100 for a rib roasts, and near $80 for the cheap cuts of chuck roast for people who can't afford to take their family out to Texas Roadhouse, but still need to find some way to feed their kids at least a LITTLE protein. No, this inflation story ain't over with yet. The pain is still hitting America right in its heartland. It's like we got kicked in the g()nads 4 years ago, then again 3 years ago, and again 2 years ago, then last year and this year. The 'nads still hurt, and now we're being told that our pain is gone. Respectfully, I call BS. Families need to feed their kids. They don't really care what the Fed is up to.
You do touch on a very real problem we're all going to face moving forward - that baked-in inflation you're referencing will never go away unless we enter a period of deflation caused by recession. Deflation would bring prices down, but the force behind it is the job loss tied to a weak economy. It's very much a case of "pick your poison"... Trying to stay optimistic here: the best case scenario is the Fed moves slowly to keep overall inflation manageable while the job market can catch up with better compensation/long-term job security. And I think it's time for the government to review the never-ending stimulus that's been injected into the system for over a decade. Thanks for sharing your views. It's a hard time, no doubt about that. Take care!
I remember when the prime rate was 18% I remember when gas was $0.25/gallon. I bought a condo in '73 for $17K I sold it 5 years later for $87K and lost money after taxes. Do you think prices are going to come down? Inflation is just getting started. It's going to get worse, a lot worse.
Inflation is around 2.5 %
@@JohnathanTotten-oh9vy 2.5% PER MONTH, just for the record. Maybe you haven't been to a grocery store recently and you're unable to remember what stuff was costing in 2020? Maybe you aren't aware that the dollar has been devalued by 25% in 3 short years? Gold was $2,000/ounce and is now 25% higher, Silver was $25/ounce and is now $25% higher. When do prices ever come down? Why do you believe the corporate media?
@@RubenCLeon that’s products from company’s you can get cheap ingredients and bake your own stuff and it’ll be 1/3 the price
@@RubenCLeon comparing usd to a few other currencies it’s actually gotten stronger the past few years
You're right. Prices in general will not be coming down (assuming we avoid a recessionary period). That's the danger of inflation - it forever resets the price floor for most goods and services. Unfortunately, much of what the Fed can do will not make things cheaper. That said, I still think slowing inflation to where it is now was (and is) critical. Thanks for commenting! And $0.25/gallon... what a time haha
Right and it is a piece of cake to have 10% interest. Thanks for staying the obvious
I don’t think earning 10% annually (nominal rate here) is an outrageous expectation… assuming you’re being serious. Thanks for commenting though! And take care!
Are you ever going to explain what causes inflation? Or are you a Keynesian? Buy Bitcoin, folks.
Topic of my next video! I do think Keynesian theory is applicable in times of crisis, but as we’ve seen these last few years - governments aren’t the best at regulating their stimulus… Thanks for commenting!
This used to be true, but with high interest rates, new cars are now cheaper. Interest rates on used cars average around 11%, and I just bought a new car at 2%. My new car also has 100,000 miles of free maintenance. On a used car, you are taking a chance on maintenance.
Great point - there are financing incentives available for new cars that change things! What was the price of the car and the amount you financed (if you don’t mind sharing)? Going to run some numbers myself. Thanks for commenting!
@alex.herrera $25,000, $422.42 month, 60 months, $7,000 down, and 100,000 mile warranty.
Appreciate you!

Agreed! A lot of different technologies coming down the pipeline.
Depends on who is tge seller for wach car. I wpuld rather have a fiat panda new then an used mercedes as you do not know previous history of the car. Maybe the previous owner failed to make maintenece for the car and when it brakes it will cost you way more to repair.
Yes very true! The condition and maintenance history is key. Always have the vehicle inspected BEFORE purchasing!
My husband and I have 4 old cars! 2006 & below, oldest is a 1988 pathfinder still works great! 👍🏻
That’s the way to go! It’s amazing how much you can squeeze out of the older models.

Appreciate y'all watching as always! SCHD is a solid investment choice for a ton of different investors. Q: What sparked your interest in SCHD? Income generation? Diversification? General curiosity?
@@alex.herrera i hadn’t heard of it before and wanted to learn more. Your video did a great job of that, thanks!
Great video! I did have one question: Is money gained from dividends accounted for in the historical return calculations? Or are those returns simply looking at the stock price over time?
Great question - the reported returns INCLUDE reinvested dividends. More of an incentive to approach investing with a long-term mindset. I’ve read somewhere that SCHD’s real price appreciation is somewhere around 8-9% (still solid returns for a focus on value stocks).
@@alex.herrera awesome thanks!!
My boy said a final destination moment😂
😂 I thought I was a goner
Could the crazy depreciation of Teslas be explained by the multiple price cuts on their cars? If Tesla reduced the price of a car you just bought by 5k, that would be an immediate depreciation right?
Definitely a huge factor! Whatever price action taking place for new 2023/2024 models bleeds into the used market - which is the determinant for a car's depreciation.
Yes and no, it depends on why the price was cut. Quality of the cars decreased, then your car is more valuable, as it is better quality. Many features news to now be paid separately through subscriptions, well your older car has them built in as it was more expensive, so higher worth
