When did the Independent Film Channel stop showing good movies and interesting things like this and start showing crummy old third-rate tv shows?
damn good video!
"Okay." 😆

Lynch is such a chad
I love how despite all the trashing Ebert gave Lynch's films, Lynch has nothing but kind things to say to him.
Lynch wondering if he screwed sth up when basic bitch like Roger Ebert likes his new movie XD
Mr Lynch is a boss lol.
I am crushed knowing that I'm born too late to pick up Japanese tourists coming to America just to see locations from my favorite show
Probably the best interview with David I've ever seen... hands down!
It's disappointing when talk show hosts framed Lynch as just a weird guy to laugh at. He's maybe a little esoteric but he explains his ideas and feelings very clearly and is extremely earnest in all his endeavors. Like, I was really interested in the mouse trap! I wanted to hear David's explanation, not listen to Jay make 10 cracks in a row without actually admitting that it's a pretty impressive contraption all things considered. Yeah it's a talk show and it's just the nature of the format but it would've been a better show if Lynch was presented as the artist he is, not a cartoon character to gawk at
This video introduced me to David lynch who has become a massive influence and inspiration in my life and art, thank you David you funny funny man
He always mentions the most unnoticeable people by their full name that he’s met, and connected with and, you know he has really created rich relationships with all these people you never hear about and felt their lives touch his… and then he throws out really big names like they’re anybody else and that’s really cool.
I’ve always thought David and Jay could’ve taken their dialogues on tour back then. Good chemistry.
You never know what the next big Western thing will become an even bigger thing in Japan.
They worked it out on the remix
I wish more filmmakers talked like this. Leave the mystery in the film. No pontificating, no speeches.
People are just idiots. Psychosis for a movie? What's next?
How lovely
So this is what inspired the Velvet Room from the Turn Based RPG Game Series entitled "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona" made by Atlus, but only the color of the room is different. for example, the Black Lodge from Twin Peaks is red, while the Velvet Room from Persona is blue

I’d love to see them in conversation for hours. I think that would be fascinating.. just Roger Ebert and David Lynch talking about the art of cinema. Did this ever happen?
it's interesting that he describes that movie
Cannot understate how influential twin peaks was. Zelda,Alan wake, deadly premonition,X-Files,silent hill, etc
Wait ..Zelda? How??😮
Young Indiana Jones too.
@@zombiecat5019 oh damn I forgot to reply to this! twin peaks if I remember was influential on zelda with the weird nonsensical townspeople with unique personalities

And behold, ladies and gentlemen... this two minutes of footage is better interviewing than every pre-ceremony awards show nowadays!
I watch this whenever I wanna smile
I love Jay so much. He's a much better troll than letterman
Mr. Lynch answers like if he doesn't care a goddamn thing about Ebert's attacks. But his politeness doesn't belong to this world 😂
Why should he care? Ebert was a clown. I don't get how can one write Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, then go and trash Blue Velvet or Fire Walk with me. Or The Thing. Or Fight Club. Or A Clockwork Orange. I'm so glad Lynch was above the situation.
@@laughingman9574 He was scared of losing his job!

The Artist and the Critic 😂
There's a lot going on in this short interaction!
Justin Theroux was right there!
- I love films that refuse to be over! - Okay thanks bye :D
"I wanna thank you for all the help you gave the film, Roger" _BRUH, HE REALLY CALLED HIS A*S OUT LIKE THAT, THE TTTTTT!!!_ (to those not in the loop, Ebert famously despised every Lynch film until this one)
He loved The Straight Story!
That's not a burn, that's a genuine praise. Ebert hated (most of) Lynch's films but still always said he thought Lynch was a great director, and always said he could admire the filmmaking in almost all his films. And for Mulholland Drive, he really went very far in praising the film, giving it a lot of spotlight in many articles he wrote, so in many ways he did "help" the film a lot both during award seasons and during the cinema release. Also, Lynch is not a sarcastic person. If you saw him in interviews and talks he gave, he has never ever been sarcastic in his speaking, and it's well understood that he means what he says, and would never disguise a feeling for something by being passive-aggressive. It's just an entirely wrong read on your part and probably more a projection of your own disdain for Roger than anything else.
It feels like hes a laughing stock and its just pretty lame
Was he an ACTUAL Eagle Scout, or was dude just speaking metaphorically or figuratively or whatever? I dont recall Lynch mentioning that.
If you want to be as calm as David Lynch, you need to meditate every single day. Meditating changed my life.
#150# David's the best🌅.
omg I would be on my kneeth 🙂
love this guy!!!
Notice how Lynch is impressed by Leno's tv "gizmo"... then in Twin Peaks: The Return, Sheriff Truman Sr. has the same kind of "gizmo" in his desk to hide the computer...
I'm a big fan of Roger (and David!), but it seems like a bad idea putting a critic on the red carpet. You're just asking for uncomfortable moments like this one.
I feel like him saying "it'll give you a beautiful feeling...IF YOU ALLOW IT" was directed straight at Leno haha
