Diane Smith spray it with a potty trainer. Pet smart usually sells them. Let him sniff it. It's a scent that let's him know that's where he urinates and defecates. I usually put my Yorkie in his play pen every morning and let him do his business and he pees and defecates on the pad and I give him a treat after.

@@Xephgor my yorkie will not do in his playpen or the crate. Crate has a bed and training pad. She will do pee oveenight, but will wait until she is out of the crate. In the morning, she is crying or whimpering to get out. I let her out, when she is quiet. Hold her on the training pads for good 20 mins and she tries to run away. She may wee on training pads mostly, but quite often on rhe floor boards. Her poo is always on the floor board, which has been wiped with correct solutions. She smells her poo and pee and even after cleaning the area. She wants to pew and poo in new areas everytime. They are good quality training pads and she tries to shred without much success or fold it and put them away under the settee or in between 2 settes. She gets totally frustrated with training pads, as if to say that she will do her pee and poo wherever she wants. She has managed to rear the playpen but not training pad in less than 2 weeks. We got her 2 weeks ago when she was 9 weeks old. Not trained in anyrhing at all. She has learnt sit, lie down, wait, weave, fetch, walking alongside us, and some other tricks but potty train, either she does not get it or just being rebellious. When i see her in the act, i try to pick her up and she runs away and does somewhere else on the floorboard. When i clap, she will stop and still go somewhere to do it. She is normally happy for me to pick her up and as she likes attention but not for potty time. If she is on my lap, she will struggle to get off to do her potty, pee usually in training pads or floor board, poo on the floor board or on cardboard. The room is covered by training pads and cardboard but she will find some edges for doing on the floorboard. She is clearly very intelligent, wants her way. Cries if we leave her for 5 to 10 mins. But this is getting better with treats, as we say wait. She is happy to wait on the video machines, which we removed today from the shelf under the table. She is capable of learning a lot of tricks as they are taught but potty training is just beyond her and now it seems me too. She gets a treat and a lot of praise whenever she does on the training pads. But poo is always on floorboards or cardboard. She cannot go out at all, as the breeder had vaccinated at 9 weeks, day before we collected her. In UK, we have to wait 4 weeks for the second vaccination and wait 2 weeks more before she can go out. This was from a 3rd litter of pups from same mother. Breeder told me that in 6 months there will be another litter. She also said the mother did not wish to have anything to do with any of them after 3 weeks of being born. This was when i had already paid the deposit and went ti pick her up. Please beware. I was desperate to have a puppy and find itvis hard work with all the training and they like being centre of attention. We are training her on separation anxiety forvup to 10 mins and i have heard her whimpering but when i make a noise of approaching, she quietens knowing, she will get a treat. She sits as if she has been sitting patiently for a long time but changed places several times.
