The Missouri Department of Public Safety provides free Critical Incident Stress Management Training for all first responders, dispatchers and chaplains through a partnership with the Warrior's Rest Foundation. Missouri Program Manager Javier Bustos explains the importance of training during a day-long session at the Jefferson City Police Department on June 14, 2024.

Last week, Missouri Capitol Police, Jefferson City Police and other agencies participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Missouri Special Olympics. They also supported athletes at the Missouri summer games in Columbia over the weekend. Capitol Police Chief Zim Schwartze and Sgt. Tracy Jamison talk about the special bond between law enforce and the Special Olympics athletes!

On May 29, 2024, three members of Missouri Capitol Police participated in the Jefferson City leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Missouri Special Olympics Summer Games, which began May 31.

In October 2023, Missouri Capitol Police gained its second K-9 Team of K-9 Officer Carly Stark and K-9 Leon. K-9 Leon is a German Short-Haired Pointer trained in explosives detection. This team joins the veteran MCP K-9 Team of K-9 Officer Adam Hoskins and K-9 Burbon. That team is also certified is explosives detection.

In 2022, the Missouri Department of Public Safety launched a training program to teach first responders - law enforcement, fire service, EMS and dispatchers - how to identify and deal with the stress that can come with their jobs.
