dude i love these type of videos keep it up
Thanks, that's so great to know! I am pretty quick at editing so I am usually able to post same day. Glad you enjoyed it , thanks for watching
a board slide from the sidewalk to that kicker would be gnarly!
For sure! I feel like I would be more brave trying that than I would board sliding the flat bar. Idk why but rails terrify me
@@YakoBako haha same here, i havent even started on my ollies. ive got a looonnggg way to go till i get to rails. we're on this journey together 💪💪
That's alright, we're all on different paths to the same destination. Keep skating and you'll get it
how you doing man!
Not bad just trying to get as much skating in before it gets cold and wet. Hope you're doing well
@@YakoBako ah, out here in jersey its already pretty cold and wet 😭 getting skating in when i have the chance though. doing well thanks!
Oh yeah I bet . Texas winters are so strange. One day it's beautiful and sunny the next it's cold and wet lol keep pushing !
Man,,,,you are so well spoken & honest,, hearing you speak of such things definitely hit home,, i can relate on the" empty shell " comment, feels like ive been exactly there for many moons,, just going through the "motions " day in & day out,, you're definitely an inspiration to this 53 year old "kid". I appreciate your sharing, you're skating it looking really good, 💪💪😎😎👍👍
We're all just kids inside that had to grow up and pay some bills haha I just try my best to keep doing the fun things I enjoy to keep my body and mind feeling young
Pretty spot on!! Your determination is inspiring! Happy for you ❤
Thank you. I'm glad to hear that it is inspiring, I'd love nothing more than to help inspire others to chase dreams and make changes. Thanks for watching it means a lot
sick mustache dude. stay strong 💪💪
Hahaha thanks! I just get lazy and never feel like shaving. Thank you, life get strange as we get older. Guitar makes me wanna feel emotions, work kills all my emotions and skating seems to balance it all out
Sesh? What the hell is sesh?

man i went skating yesterday and hurt my ankle pretty bad 😭 i felt that fall
Hope you heal quickly my friend. Im still recovering from a broken elbow so I'm trying to take it easier but honestly this fall wasn't too bad with the pads on . Thanks for commenting
Where do shop for parts?
A few different sources. Sometimes I use skate warehouse or other big online stores. Sometimes I shop local skate shops. Last time I got new bushings from a local place but before that I had ordered some online with a custom longboard
Thanks for sharing 😎😎👍👍
your board is sick dude! what brand is it and what size?
It's a blank 9 inch from skate warehouse. Ace trucks , spitfire wheels and thunder risers. Got a wider board because I like transition skating but I'm finding it difficult on flat ground tricks so I may get an 8.5 for that stuff
@@YakoBako dang, 9 is pretty wide. me personally im just starting out skating, so im starting with an 8.0 (im 9.5 womens US shoes) and ill see if change it up later on. spitfire wheels are always goated tho
Yea wider boards are better for vert and also I'm 5'11 175 lbs. Size 11.5-12 shoes. I like the stability of the wider board but it is more difficult to get the flip tricks down.
gnarly butt transfer but keep it up fam
oof, that was a gnarly fall. so glad to see a skater wearing a helmet tho, stay safe man!
Honestly didn't feel as bad as it looked but yea, I don't need to get hurt any more than normal lol

Good shit, I like to also Ollie up my drops as well as down them. Helps me get super comfortable/confident and this one looks doable
@@jmanthebeast4 thanks. I'll have to try that out. I do it with smaller stuff so maybe time to step it up a notch
My board turns too as it’s coming down. I haven’t quite pinpointed the cause other than focusing on not letting my front foot pull the board heelside
I think for me it is happening in my shoulders. Gotta try to turn my shoulders in toe side next time and see if that helps. It looks like I'm just barely opening my chest up which is causing the board to turn
It’s all in the shoulders for sure
@@MRUUUKNOOOW yea I have a bad habit of turning my chest towards the nose that I need to break.
SKATE OR DIE! 🤟😜
Great to see your commitment!
@@LoLthePear12 Thanks! I'm just trying to hold on to what little bit of youth I have left. Call it a pre-mid life crisis 😂🤣😭

Nice job. My highest stair set is the curb in front of my house, haha
That was mine until the other day when I recorded that video. It was scary for sure lol just Ollie like you're doing a rolling Ollie and forget the stairs are there. I landed that second one and was like " okay that wasn't as bad as I made it seem " keep skating!
Nice job. I spent some time ollying up the curb at my house and I feel that doing that has helped my ollies way better than just stationary or flat rolling ollies. I posted a vid on it
Thanks I'm a little stiff at 32 but I feel it coming day by day. Nice! Just gotta challenge yourself more and more and it'll get higher. I can Ollie stationary about two solid feet up beautiful textbook Ollie's but when I rolling I can't seem to get that back leg up as high. Practice practice
I'm not there yet but you're killing it
@@brettwest4664 keep trying my friend. My stationary Ollie's are beautiful but I'm having a hard time transitioning to rolling. One day at a time
@@YakoBako I can ollie moving but it's not super high and I can hit some jump boxes just going up and over but I can't do any transitions yet like a quarter pipe
Looking smooth😎😎
Life your feet up higher G…focus on really bringing your knees to the chest and keep your eye on the board under you while jumping. Soon enough you will see you will get the board rotation all around and then catch it with the back foot.
Lift*
@@kushndiamondz thanks man, I always feel like I'm lifting them up high then I watch the footage and realize in barely getting up there. I'll try to focus on that next time.
Here is all you need: Do not flick right away. Lift a little your front foot, and then kick it
@@tomasgarza1249 hey thanks, I'll try to remember to delay the flick a little next time
You almost got it. Just got to get your balance centered instead of toe side and you’ll have them
You got a good pop. I think your foot is going straight off the nose and it catches and launches it. Try to get your foot to flick out of the pocket- in front of the truck, but before the nose goes up. There’s a sweet spot you have to find Keep at it, they’re tough. It can take weeks or months to learn
Thanks I'll keep at it and try to make adjustments. Everything is a feeling man. Once you capture that feeling and learn to recreate it over and over you got the trick down. When I come close, I get that feeling but then I got t figure out what I did differently that time t get the feeling and try to do it again. A lot of slowing down footage and looping it to study lol
To keep the board from going behind you, jump straight upwards. If you lean forward as you jump, it will always go behind you, so lean a bit back. Also, kind of imagine it as an ollie. Keep going!
Thanks! Others have been telling me the same. It's nice to get outside perspective because in my mind I'm going up but clearly everyone else sees me leaning too much so I'll have to make adjustments and get used to that new muscle memory. Thanks again
Don't give up, got my first one at age 34 after 2 years on a board. Spent a solid month of trying nothing but kickflips before landing it. Keep putting in the work and stay patient.
@@ryemoh thanks! And congratulations on landing your first one. I'm pretty comfortable riding the skateparks but flat ground tricks have always seemed so hard to me. I longboarded for years so I feel comfortable and confident on the board but sometimes I feel like no matter what I do I can't get the tricks down. I'm definitely going to keep at it and hopefully have some videos with more progress soon. Thanks again!
try to jump higher with your back foot. The height of the trick depends on how high you can bring your back foot up, the front foot is just a leveler. If you jump higher, the board will have more time to spin, and you more time to land the catch.
what i'm trying to say is: bring your knees up.
@@aquarelacafe thanks! I've been trying to remember that but I think it's going to take a lot of repetition to get the muscle memory down. I always feel like I'm going so high then realize once seeing my footage that I am real stiff and not really lifting much on the back door like you said. Thanks again for the tip!
what are your pants
Aelfric Eden cargo pants. My brother found them at goodwill
You’re doing pretty decent for day one. I’m still having a lot of trouble , but I think I made a breakthrough the other day
@@RedBoard86 thanks! I'm definitely feeling it lol. I think I tried over a hundred times to get it and I'm feeling muscles I forgot I had.
@@RedBoard86 glad you ha a breakthrough, I seem to be absorbing knowledge better at this age than when I was younger so I'm hoping that translates to the board too
@@YakoBako I think when we’re younger, we think it has to be done a certain way and will bash our heads against a wall to get it. As an adult, we think “I only got 30mins to practice. I need to troubleshoot what’s happening and find the sweet spot that works for me”. Lol. That’s how I feel at least So far I got 2+ hrs of footage, another hr+ off camera, and 3 janky, random lands. It’s going to be a wicked progress video for sure
@RedBoard86 yes that's definitely a good representation of how I feel lol
Place your back foot so that your heel is hanging off the tail. This will create a counter torque. Focus less on flick and more on Ollie. You’re kicking too much in front of you. Only hang a lil bit of your toe off of the board. It should feel like a regular Ollie. What you want to happen is to have your foot follow up the edge of your board but at a slight 📐 angle. What you want to happen is at the apex of your Ollie your heel should be clipping the board right above the pocket of the board and clipping the nose. It’s not like a kick flip where there is a flick that flips the board. Last tip don’t film your self from the side film you self straight on. Have the camera facing you and the nose of your board. Make sure your shoulders are straight and that you’re not opening up your chests and look at where your front foot is going. You foot should only travel slightly out and past the nose of your board Think more Karate kick
@@Trchamberlin Hey, thanks for all the tips! I'll try to remember to film myself at that angle next time so I can see exactly how my body is moving and try to make the mentioned adjustments. Thanks so much!
😂😂😂
keep on keeping on
Brooooooo.. txt me man. Heard y'all are having a little knife! Congratulations
asked justin for your number havent got an answer but ill text you when i get it!
Are you on fb or ig? If so dm me and I'll give it to you
you jumping foward, try to jump in the same place
By forward do you mean forward over my hips or forward towards the nose of the board?
@@YakoBako your hips
Thanks man. I'll try that out. I was really trying to focus on my flick and completely forgot to get a good pop first and stay over the board.
Looks like fun.
@@SteveDeThample the more I learn the more fun it gets! Now that the weather here in Texas is cooling down some I might be able to get out and hit some bigger parks with bowls soon . Thanks for watching!
