Bartolini MK1 vs MK5 in Cort Curbow 5
I do side by side audio of the Active MK-1 pickup and the Passive MK-55 in my Cort Curbow 5 bass. This is recorded direct though my interface, no pre-amp. The onboard pre-amp is set flat (Center detent on Low, Mid, high). The MK-1 that cam on the bass was an active/powered pickup. The MK-5 is passive.

Bass String Comparison - DR Black Beauties vs. Ernie Ball Slinky Flats
Переглядів 4,8 тис.3 роки тому
I'm comparing the DR Black Beauties vs. Ernie Ball Slinky Flats. Do the Slinky Flats really sound like rounds? This was recorded direct with no pre-app or processing. This is on a Squire P-Bass (P pickup soloed with tone at 100%) with EMG-GZR (Geezer Butler Signature) pickups and Hipshot Bridge.
2005 BMW F650CS Walkaround and Info

A Look at my 2005 BMW F650CS. I talk about some of the features, history, and what it's like living with the bike. This bike shares the 652cc Rotax Single Cylinder motor with the F650GS and little else. It was the 1st ever belt drive bike made by BMW. The drive train is similar to the one used on the newer F800ST and F800GT models. Like many BMW models it was available in a "low" version with a...

A jam in A minor. I'm playing my SX fretless jazz through my Ampeg BA-115. I'm running an Electro-Harmonix BassBalls as well. First I run it dry then switch the fuzz on. Sorry for the buzz. When I started playing I freaked the turtle out and he knocked his filter down.

    Many thanks for your comments !!! I bought a 2003 second hand F650CS in NY/NY although I live in the Tropics on a 90 square-kilometers island where I can ride my bike 330 days a year. I bought in 2005 & kept it 'till 2017. My lady much preferred, as passenger, my former BMW than my current 2010 Yamaha MT03 660cc single cylinder engine which is more of a fun bike 😄😄😄

      I don't disagree with this. The MK1s don't sound great, but they sound okay in the final demo. The MK5s do sound underwhelming overall. The MK5s are fuller for the lower strings, but not for the higher ones. I have MK1s in my Ibanez SR506 - a Korean model from 2005 - and based on this demo, I probably wouldn't go for the MK5s.

    Quick question. I am thinking of buying a 2003 for Los Angeles to get around. I found your video extremely informative. But is it a pain to keep the battery on a trickle charger when I am not there? It feels I have to take apart the bike from your video.

    • @travatron4000

      No, Just hook up the Pig tail with the SAE connector and run it under the seat. You can see the battery tender cable under the seat if you look close in the video about 2:30. If you want to use Jumper Cable style alligator clips it will be difficult as you can't reach the positive terminal with the battery in place.

    I see what you mean. You're right about that, i may have exaggerated. But i know for sure that if the instrument is reffered to as "String" bass, it means played mainly with a bow. If you look at scores, you can see that classical orchestra music marks the bass as "string bass" and in jazz it has a multitude of names, but never string bass.

  • @max269
    @max269 12 років тому

    The sustain is way too long? When you refer to the instrument as a string bass, it is assumed 99% of the time that you would be playing with a bow and with a classical discipline. I believe you assumed this would be played pizzicato or a jazz style, which is fair. But remember though, the difference between string bass and double bass/upright bass. Double bass simply being the word to describe the instrument, and upright being the term describing the technique of playing it without the bow.
