Hey everyone, take a minute to read what this channel is all about. I write cinematic music because of the emotion it can create, and because of how it can tell a story in a way that words will never be able to. Every piece I write, there is a story behind it, and my goal is to help people feel and believe as much of it as possible. Music really can change people's lives :)

Hi Fraser - I subscribed immediately ! Brief videos focusing on special aspects of orchestration in a clear and direct manner. You are doing excellent work ! Best Wishes - John
Thanks heaps John :) lots more to come!
@@FraserMyersMusic Would be great to hear and see a breakdown of the chords at 1:14 of this Interlude from Alban Berg's Wozzeck : ua-cam.com/video/YHl7ZxWPYMs/v-deo.html
Great video! Loved being able to hear the individual parts, I am currently majoring in music, so these videos are very interesting and entertaining 👍
Thanks heaps! I'm glad the extra details were helpful ❤️ good luck with the music major!
Thank you for your work. Great format! A really nice future one could be Mahler's 5th Symphony Adagietto.
Thankyou! That's a GREAT suggestion, I'm going to use it after next week's swan lake video 😁
Hey Fraser! Great video series!
Hey thanks Alex! That means a lot coming from an orchestral wizard like yourself
this is super sick ! you should consider having more animations and play the instruments individually 😊
thanks for the feedback! I'll keep working those suggestions into future videos 😊
I agree, it would be nice to hear the different parts individually
I really like these "recipe" videos, one thing i would suggest is playing the parts individually after discussing them, instead of playing the whole song only at the start and the end. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks heaps for the feedback :) that's something I've been considering lately, at the moment I'm using just the audio, so it's quick to analyze. The individual parts would require a mockup so will slow down the process quote a lot, however seeing comments like this help to see the value in taking the extra time, thanks!
Good channel, would you ever do other composers like James Horner, Howard Shore, John Barry, or Ennio Morricone? I would love to hear you talk about the Flute in Love in the Morning by Morricone.
Yes of course, I love all of them! The next couple are different composers, I'm studying Aquarium by Saint-Saens and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy by Tchaikovsky at the moment. Maybe I'll look at some Morricone next :)
Layer by layer - I see what you did there
Haha totally accidental, I wish I planned that 🤣
These are great!!!
Thanks Michael!
Keep going, super interesting!
Will do, more on the way! Thanks Markus
But that's literally Holst!!
So much film music is, no bad thing
Great stuff! Love that there's multiple layers of arpeggios
Thanks mate!!
Best thumbnail yet!!! Great stuff as usual mate. ✌️
Thanks mate!!
These texture analysis videos are a great idea and your enthusiasm shines through. It's like you've hit on a new way to open music to interested appreciative amateurs, and in the process bring listeners to your music in the older videos. Best of luck! And thank you, in this one, for not putting in unrelated background music during analysis. It's much easier to link what you say to a memory of the texture when there isn't something completely different playing at the same time!
Thanks so much John, I appreciate it!
Absolutely love your videos! Keep it up man!!!
Thankyou!! 😁
Exellent breakdown, Fraser. Thanks again for this. Great to have your ear on this, I don't think I ever picked up on the Zither, it blends so well into the texture. Aeralies vocals on this entire sound track is just stunningly mesmerizing, the voice of mother nature.
Thanks mate! Probably missing things doing this by ear. These vocals are so beautiful. Keep the suggestions coming btw!
I Wonder if John Williams ever watches these videos and is like “bro I was just guessing, idk what you’re talking about” Seriously tho, great video
hahaha imagine 🤣 thanks man
Ori!!! 😍
Yesss!! 😍
Keep continue, amazing videos :D
Thanks for the kind words 😊
Thanks for the anaylsis. Iconic melody and the movement in the flutes really bring it to life. I see you little alien.
Thanks Nathan! Glad you found the alien 🤣
Absolutely love it mate! Would love to see a piano roll/midi note editor version of each of the layers! Might help visualise it differently 🤟🤙
Thanks mate! Yeah I think I'll start to work those into the next few vids, seems to be a popular request :)
Beautiful texture. Williams is a true master of wistful woodwinds.
I agree, he's absolutely amazing, and there's a lifetime of learning that can come from his scores 😁
Absolutely, even a 4 bar analysis is a masterclass in orchestration. BTW regarding texture suggestions for upcoming videos. Are you familiar with Gareth Coker's score for "Ori and the Blind Forest"? I would love to finally see someone do a breakdown. Although, I've found it difficult to find the sheet music (beyond than piano reductions) so, it could be tricky.
Omg I was just talking about this exact topic with a friend yesterday! That texture is one of my all time favorites, it really takes you into that magical forest. I've found it hard to find sheet music too, but maybe a best guess by ear would still be useful?
@@FraserMyersMusic That's wild! haha The entire score is just phenomenal. Amazing if you can pull it off by ear. But, honestly don't stress about this suggestion, I know how time consuming that would be. Btw, great job on the visual aids for these videos i.e instrument ranges on keyboard, melody/ harmony grouped by instruments etc. it's refreshing to watch tutorials that aren't just in black and white notation. The effort you put in really shows.
Hey! Just letting you know I've uploaded a texture analysis now on Ori, thanks for the suggestion 😊
Great video, man! Look forward to seeing more in this series.
Thanks man! I've got a few vids up now since this one :)
Man are these videos sweet and helpful. Truly hope you get more recognition!
Thanks man!! I'm glad you're finding them helpful!
@@FraserMyersMusic it's a style of videos I really wanted to try, analysing harmony, melody and orchestration techniques via studying scores, I never got around to do it though. Keep it up! Oh, btw, I wrote this piece called Pastoral Suite, if you want to give me an opinion, I'd be glad!
I'd love to see it if you ever get around to making them! I'll have a listen tonight 😊
your video production is so good man!!! Looking forward to more of these analysis and tutorials!
Hey!! Great to hear from you! Thanks for the support <3
That was sweet. Would love to see something by Ramin Djwadi. His cover of heart shaped box is really rich with textures and so is the Night King theme
Thanks! Oh yeah Ramin Djawadi is amazing, thanks for the suggestion, I'd love people to keep them coming :) It'll depend on whether or not I can get my hands on the sheet music!
very clever and helpful technic of analysis, keep continue :)
thanks! It's a bit niche but I'll make them for the fun of it :)
hey, hope you remember me, thanks for the video, I love this type of videos! Wish you the best man!
Hey man of course! I remember looking up to your composition skills about 10 years ago haha hope you're well!
I am actually so obsessed with this, and now, I will never shut up abt it. THIS IS AMAZING
So beautiful
