When is the slam death metal coming dude???
I’m here for this
Thank you for listening. More songs will be released soon.
Thank you for this thorough lesson on a very basic aspect of guitar playing ..I started playing guitar around 1991 but I skipped the basics send practiced rarely. It wasn't until 2014 that I started using a metronome but I only used it. For quarter note alternate picking. In 2018 I sustained a severe injury to my picking hand wrist and thumb. This sidelined me until January of 2024 .I now have some serious handicaps in my picking but I am determined to figure out a way to develop my songwriting. I just went to turn my metal riffs into songs. Your video is the first one I have found that. Clears up all of my problems with tempos.
@@joshpelton8068 Thank you so much Josh. I am glad my video was useful for you. I made them to be practical and solve problems that I encountered, not to try to impress people or make myself look good. Anyway I am really glad that you found this video useful. I also had many injuries and particularly had problems with my hands getting stiff or my shoulder getting sore because I dislocated it a fews years ago. I am glad to hear that your hand seems to be recovering. I am going to release my heavy metal album Retaliation Unleashed in the next few months and so I would also encourage you with your own heavy metal riffs to stick with it. It's always easy to start to make songs these days and record them using your phone interface etc so I hope that you can make some music that you are really pleased with. Thank you very much
@retaliationunleashed thanks for the kind words and I will look forward to hearing your album .. I will also check out more of your videos. Some of these other cats spend too much time creating characters and making videos that drag on and on before they get to the meat and potatoes ( that is if there are any ,) with your video I instantly figured out the tempo to some of my rifs. The main thing you taught me was the quarter note per click , half more per 2 clicks etc .my favorite band morbid angel actually use a lot of 32nd notes in their songs and now I finally know what all this means ! LOL
@@joshpelton8068I understand, if you listen to morbid angel then I can see why you would appreciate the need to go further into the metronome. I used to play slayer songs and at the very least you need to be able to appreciate how 16th notes are working. When I first started using the metronome I had to put it at twice the speed because I was used to playing with the really fast sound of the drums doing 16th notes so I would have my metronome set a double time and 32nd notes. With morbid angel it's a similar concept doing 32nd or 16th notes. I'm really glad you found this video useful. Thank you. I should be releasing my first song on UA-cam in the next month or so, so maybe if you get the chance, see if you like it.
@retaliationunleashed I will check it out for sure . Ps. On the topic of Morbid angel, I have been listening to their 5th studio record Formulas fatal to the flesh. In 1998 it was the height of advanced extreme metal drumming and guitars.check it out if you haven't already done so. S
@@joshpelton8068 yeah thanks I will check it out. I used to listen to a lot of slayer and I covered war ensemble, raining blood, and also hammer smashed face by cannibal corpse with my old band, but I think morbid angel maybe a bit more extreme than that. I'll be interested to have a listen to it. I heard their first drummer would practise until he dropped down from exhaustion. I really like fast drumming. My little brother who is playing in my current metal project used to play with a guy called CJ who became the vocalist for the death core band Thy Art Is Murder and they are good friends, but in my metal project we aren't playing that fast death metal style, it's a bit more of a sort of old school thrash metal or maybe power metal but anyway I will definitely have a listen to that Morbid Angel album. For death metal I recommend a skeletal domain by cannibal corpse and arise by sepultura, those are two that I like personally.
Awesome Dan pity u didn't upload the Hammer Smashed Face
Thank you! Fun to play!
