To get to a place of victory we have to humble ourselves completely before the Lord. Our righteousness He tells us is as filthy rags. That’s how it is for us no matter if we are saved or not saved. It is only the righteousness of Jesus Christ that saves us, cleanses us, and lifts us up. We have no righteousness except what He has given to us of His own righteousness. I’ve struggled all my life with serious health issues, and wondered why? As with Paul we are given thorns to keep us humble, and to teach us. Yes, Paul dealt and struggled with sin. We ALL do, because we are sinners, and we choose to be sinners. When we sin we choose to sin. We don’t sin accidentally. We consciously make the choice to indulge in that sin. But on top of the constant testing Paul also had an infirmity which was believed to be concerning his eyes, but it was also something said to be as a thorn in his side. It continually made him sick, or he was continually sick from it in some manner, always afflicted by it, and it may have affected his eyes. Perhaps Paul had this to teach him humbleness before the Lord. I recently watched a great teaching message by Dr. Gene Kim, and I think Dr. Lawson, his church there in Tennessee, and those on UA-cam, as well as all Christians, can benefit in listening to his recent teaching on how he feels horrible on discipleship #15. He had a great breakthrough concerning the nature of mankind-of Christians, the nature of sin, and our afflictions. He gives great insight into how our righteousness is as filthy rags, and we are nothing without Jesus Christ. Everything we learn and do is because of Jesus Christ, and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. I really do suggest people give the message on this topic a listen to. It will give you such an insight to Jesus Christ and to yourself in the equation of it all. It truly is the suffering that refines us, and we will keep suffering and being refined until we finally understand what it is Jesus Christ is trying to show us and teach us. Even after you get it right there may be the thorns in the side. Once we learn one thing there is always more to learn. Jesus Christ is pealing away layers on us to finally get us to that diamond stage where He wants us to be. It will not be fully completed until we are given our new bodies and the mind of Christ. Even then Jesus will judge us and then refine us until all the dross is out of us, and then we are exactly how He intended us to be. He has a vision for each of us, and to get us to refinement we will endure much, but in the end it is going to be worth every moment of the suffering, and every challenge will have been worth it. We do not get ourselves there, but rather Jesus Christ gets us there. To be humble, to be willing, to walk as Christ walked, to serve others as Christ served. Jesus never lifted Himself up, though He was God in the flesh who walked among us, and He is the Word of God. Instead He always lifted up God the Father. Dr. Kim’s message is worth a listen. Our path is a narrow path, and we climb mountains on the journey most of the way. A narrow path on the side of a mountain is difficult to walk, but we can do it. We can learn from Jesus Christ who helps to make our burdens light. Everything is all in all Jesus Christ each step of the way. It is not our accomplishment, but the work Jesus has done within us. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13, KJV. It doesn’t read I can do all things and Christ gives me the strength to do it. It is THROUGH CHRIST I can do all things. Why? Because it is Christ’s strength in me that makes me strong enough to do it. It is Christ working through us, and when we bow humbly to His will Jesus gives of Himself over and over and over again so that we will receive His strength to get it all done for Him and for His Glory. You will never see your footprints in the sand. It is always the Footprints of Jesus Christ you will see there for He ALWAYS carries us all the way. And so He carries His Bride across the threshold into His new Kingdom, and into Eternity. All we need to do is to be humble, to bow our will over, and let Jesus pick us up and carry us all the way as He works through us. Give Christ all the Glory with a humble heart.

I had to take “ comparative religion” for my education and nursing degrees at a large state school. The professor was a lapsed Catholic who was leaning towards Jesus. She didn’t equate the pagans with Jesus. It was an interesting experience. Wish I had kept up with her.

Thank you pastor for yet another preaching and teaching on the Holy Word of God. We don’t get this kind of teaching/preaching in our churches today. Make no mistake, I have a wonderful, compassionate and fiery pastor who knows his Bible, but I’m always seeking more. 💕🙏🏻
