Woodwalkers is a window into the life of aspiring modern linemen. It helps tell a small part of the story of the high-risk, high-reward work electrical linemen bravely do for us all each day.
To become an apprentice lineworker is no easy feat. It often requires leaving your home and your family just to see if you have what it takes to learn the trade.
Season 2 takes a look into how this dangerous and extremely important work shapes the lives of real men and women who hope to create a future for themselves in this industry.

Our students have now had several weeks of training and are building confidence by the day. Tonight, however, they must repair power lines mangled by the skilled hands of their very own instructors, simulating a true emergency power restoration.
Robbing them kids of their money. Get into an IBEW apprenticeship and get the best training and get paid for it. These jack legged hacks acting like they are training these kids to be in the military. Ridiculous.
I’ll be here for this summer class. Is the awakening something we will have to option to sign up for?

Does anyone know what kinda boots their wearing? they kinda look like hoffmann but i’m not sure
I see a lot of comments about "why they did this", Lineman has to deal with a lot of bad weather conditions to ensure you have power. Pushing them to their limits shows true grit to what it takes to be a lineman and get the job done.
when i started over 32 years ago there were no climbing schools .foreman asked me if i ever climbed a tree i said yes he said get them hooks on an get ur ass up that pole. first pole was a 70 footer second was 90 footer with old safety no fall protection if you cut out

Chase will not make it. He wasn’t sick and wasn’t fooling anybody. At least I don’t think he fooled anyone. In a profession where teamwork is so important he is not type you want on your team.
do you not have to do the class test if you do this? and what does this have to do with lineman work at all ? you think there would be more climbing at least!...
The problem with these schools is they breed this mindset that these kids/guys are lineman after finishing and it’s just so god damn wrong. You paid 25k to learn how to climb. Save your money. Go to your local union hall and signs the books as a grunt/flagger/truck driver and apply to the apprenticeship and wait. Its great that they get their CDL’s and a good base knowledge of climbing clean poles without 4 foot of comms or anything realistic on the poles, but these schools are not accredited in most strong union states. There are plenty of non union opportunies leaving these schools, and unfortunately a lot of these guys go rat down south and think they just made it when really they were just ill informed.
It’s very difficult to get an apprenticeship through a utility if you don’t go to one of these schools or get a degree in electrical construction, at least from who I’ve talked to. That’s the route I’m taking. What do you mean by “accredited school”

These schools are b*llshit. I guarantee I’ve done more linework in my first 15 years in the trade than that loud mouth instructor has done in his whole life.
Lineman for 43 years, you don’t get on trainee to go faster, that’s a recipe for disaster. I can guarantee I’ve done more linework in my first 15 years than that instructor has in his whole career.
