It's very nice to see that this is possible but it has a few technical disadvantages. The engine uses all drawn lines at runtime for collision detection but also for what to draw and what not. You would want to prevent this. Modern games use lowpoly objects for collision detection for example next to a visible highpoly model. The method shown in the video is also frustrating when copypasting stuff and you need to realign textures. Things can go quite well but it will always mess up ;) I think to achieve this you can better import a 3d model. If that has to many limitations then you exceeded what you should do in the doom engine ;)

While this sounds good on paper and looks nice when you stop and look directly at it. The only issue I see is. Doom is meant to be fast paced. When creating maps. I only detail what I feel the player would still be able to notice at a glance, if they were moving around the map. Still, it does look cool. I can see this working for sectors that are a little bit larger. Or if there is enough contrast to notice those details. For example. The bolts aren't as noticeable, due to the brown texture on all sides blending in, with one another.

You need a flat surface to do that. What's the use of sanding it down if it's uneven? Do it on a glass plate.

You do realise that doom is not actually 3d right? Well your stuff work but it will just cause some problems but there ok if you slightly add changed to the software doom is using So that’s why you can shoot air from above and why u can’t look up
