EdTech Mondays Kenya: Understanding, Advocating, and Supporting Students with Learning Difficulties
Welcome to this month’s episode of #EdTechMondays! In this episode, we shine a spotlight on the state of special education in Kenya, exploring three critical aspects: accessibility, curriculum adaptation, and teacher training. Our conversation is grounded in the 2018 Sector Policy for Learners and Trainees with Disabilities, a transformative framework aimed at fostering inclusive education for all.
Join our expert panelists: Phyllis Munyi from Dyslexia Organization Kenya and Lydia Kairanya from the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) as they share practical strategies, innovative tools, and inspiring success stories that are shaping the future of special education.
Learn how the 2018 Sector Policy builds on earlier efforts to support learners with disabilities and addresses specific needs such as dyslexia, autism, and sensory impairments. Explore the importance of teacher training programs and differentiated curricula in creating inclusive classrooms. Discover how partnerships between government bodies, educators, and non-state actors are driving meaningful change. Whether you're an educator, parent, or student, gain valuable tips and tools to foster supportive learning environments.
Education is for everyone. Let’s champion equitable learning spaces where all students can thrive, no matter their unique challenges. Join the conversation and be part of the movement to transform special education in Kenya through the power of technology and policy.
