A) In any high-level writing course, book or any level of professional writing quality the law of fantasy is: first define your laws which are outside of normal laws of physics, biology etc., then uphold them. anything that is according to regular laws must be according to them. otherwise, you will be considered an absolutely poor writer. B)You are saying "it may come as a surprise to hear..." well, maybe this is your opinion and this is ok. but countless people see it differently, which is one of the reasons why Martin is so successful. this is widely known. also, low fantasy can't have dragons? well, not exactly.
