It's one of the best hunt videos I've seen. Captured the moments and memories. I've hunted that area for 35 years. 4 generations have enjoyed that hunt. You're doing it right, refreshing to see. Thanks for sharing.
@@russpoppe7016 thanks for the compliments, It sure is a cool place and I am sure looking forward to going back there again. 4 generations is quite the accomplishment, sounds like the tradition is alive and well in your family too.
Простая и отличная печь для приготовления пищи 👍😊
That's what we call a "fork-a-soarus"...+eyeguards
Cut the line.
I have a few more questions. First, do you have the 90° elbows inside your tent to allow your stove to be more centered and then more heat dispersion in the tent? Or do you have your chimney hole on the side wall of your tent? And second, can you provide some numbers on building this? What angle did you go with for the burn tube? How long is the burn tube? And how far back is the feeder tube from the stove?
The chimney hole is in the side of the tent. The first elbow is in the tent and the second elbow is on the outside. I'm not sure on the measurements, it's all packed away with my gear again. I have also been modifying if over the last couple years and things have changed from what my original numbers were when I built it, I never remeasured it other than the first video I did on it.
Great hunt I got a non resident unit 2 white tail tag this will be my first hunt in Idaho..! I'm excited
Thanks! We have tags in our pockets again this year. Looking forward to another trip! Best of luck to you this year!
We also put another Idaho deer hunt from last year onto UA-cam. Take a look, thanks for watching
@@chasethehunt2187 Absolutely thank you..!!
I noticed that you added a box with holes onto your chimney pipe. Can you explain what that is, how it has helped and if it’s needed?
Ya, so it's called a stack robber. It goes inline in your flue piping and what happens is the heat coming up out of the stove has to weave through the tubes and out the top. This causes the tubes to heat up and if you put a fan on one side, it will bow the hot Air in the tube out the other side and into the living space. I hope that makes sense.
@@chasethehunt2187 do you feel this had any effect on the length of burn?
No, I don't think it had much of an effect. It would act like a damper just because it has some restriction to the airflow but I don't think it's enough to make much of a difference
Very good video, loved the way you guys flowed like water. And those guys “telling their story” (fast forward) lol. You guys got the trip dialed in.
Thanks Robert! We appreciate the comment and we are glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this headed to Idaho this year hopefully I can knock down a nice whitetail
Right on, best of luck to you! We will be back as well!
Awesome trip. I love hunting that area. Over the years I've shot a few nice deer in there. I've shot some small ones too.
It’s certainly a fun trip! Target rich environment!
Congrats! My daughter got her first buck last season too 10 years old!
Congratulations, it’s such a fun experience to be a part of!
Who do you keep ribbons on the end of the antlers?
It’s certainly overkill, but just to make sure some adrenaline pumped person doesn’t see antlers and just start sending bullets down range. Wide open terrain is a lot safer but once ur in the brush it’s more concerning .
Congrats!!!!!
Thanks!
I run the Orchard aid station for BMC, I always like finding these race videos and seeing it from the runner's view. and yeah... it was stupid cold at night that year.
I appreciate you running that aid station! couldnt make it through without the help of you guys!!! Keep up the great work!
Good job
Thanks 👍
Like your video!! If I was you I would employ S M Zeus!!!
This is Jayden, oh boy I didn't expect you to post this lol, also wogo kinda cheated both times with the fire burning the string activity.
Out of curiosity what camera did you use? Thanks cool video bud!
Hey Dan, I appreciate it! I use a Panasonic fz300 for my main camera and then a GoPro 360 for videoing as I hike
Any advice? Still liking the set up? I was wanting to make this exact set up with my Colorado Cylinder Stove Timberline
Yes, I love it. I light it and sleep comfortably through the night with consistent heat 👍
@@chasethehunt2187 what elevation and temperature did you deal with? I'm planning a late November hunt in Colorado at 9k feet elevation. I'm worried the high elevation and thin air may cause inadequate drafting. I have the 12x12 Alaknak and a Colorado Cylinder Stove that heats it well burning wood. Just worried about how the pellets will preform before I go cutting into a $600 wood stove haha
I typically use it around 3k to 5k elevation. Not sure how it would do at 9. I had a fire in my stove a few years ago at 10,800 and it burned just fine but it wasn't pellets. My tent is 12x14
Great video. I enjoyed it a lot. Congratulations on the Bucks.
Great video, man that looked like a hard area to hunt. Congratulations on the buck.
@williegladden2676 thanks!!
Why is your right foot laterally rotated?
Just the way I am… always been that way and haven’t really dug into why. I assume there’s something that could be done like Pt or something but it’s been this way ever since I can remember
@@chasethehunt2187 ah ok. Sorry was just curious.
Your burning about 300 dollars a month 10 a bag per day x30 =300 I buy a cord of firewood for 300 a cord and it last 1 month Same same . It s about what keeps you warm and wood heat is so nice when it’s wet cold snowing.
I hear ya. My main reason for the pellets is because I only use the stove in my wall tent when I'm camping in the winter. I really don't like having to get up because my fire died, light it again then can't sleep because it's to hot, then fall asleep when it's comfortable only to wake up from being cold because the fire is dead. With this stove it stays about 65 in the tent all night long and never changes. I agree, I love wood heat. Growing up we used propane heaters in the tent and nothing ever dried out.
okay, Where is the 177 stud? I only saw 2 deer killed and both would not go over 155 at most.
Awesome find. I am 47 and still have only found one shed. As I walked up to it it was the whole skeleton so at least I got a cool European mount of a mule deer. But technically no true shed
Good job 👏🏼 , brought my daughters up getting Morels and Chanterelle mushrooms. Building core memories for life
Very nice that is very cool. I like it..
Nice vid! Are yuns from Washington? I'm down in southcentral. My brother and I are planning on doing the same hunt in 2026. Appreciate the footage.
We are upper northwest. Thanks for watching, we are glad you like it and best of luck in 2026! I’m sure you guys will have a blast!
Good news is that is a great stove, the bad news is I think I have fallen in love with your beautiful wife.Lol
Haha, I have too
nice set up well done Sir ;)
Why are there slits on the top and bottom side of the square part of the tubing?
Just to help bring in more airflow for a cleaner more efficient burn.
I have a small almost tiny Chubby my dad bought from some surplus magazine 15 years ago. I wonder if i could replace its front door with your hopper system and heat my shed with it? seems like it's a rocket stove hybrid lol
You probably could!!
Great kill, sneaking up on the plains has to be a thrill with zero cover outside of elevation and grass
It's very exciting. They have amazing eyesight !!
You could weld up and make the top of the hopper a .50cal ammo can that has the rubber gasket so you don’t have to tape the bag to the hopper. Excellent build and idea! Thank you
Thanks for watching, interesting idea!! It definitely needs to be air tight and that should do it
Id love to see a pea coal test on this rig too if you are in area other than Oregon. Burning coal is a crime here even though wood stoves are common lol
Nice build!
Thanks @dylanrideout4921
what unit?
Why not build a metal lid for the hoper? Why use a bag and tape instead
Either way would work but both would need to be taped or somehow sealed.
This is frig’n genius… if you have build plans and there’s any way you’d share them please send me some, or let me know where to get them
If you can get your hands on some corn from a farmer , mix with the pellets. Good stuff
Really, I've never heard of this? How does corn help?
@@chasethehunt2187 Got a high heat content for the weight and volume.
I love you dorks! Lol thanks for sharing I hope to meet you in the idaho woods! Congratulations
Thanks @davidperkins8722. We do have Idaho tags this year so you might. haha
We see a nice beautiful invention. What we do not see is the many hours of thought that created this invention. This product is artistic in its simplicity and very innovative. Again my feed is down due to dust blocking a vacum sensor tube. For us keep it simple inventors and enthusiasts I would rank this invention and presentation in the area of combustion solutions as top 3 in the past 5 years. As a general invention, top 100...Great Job Chase the Hunt
Thank you for the compliment. I have updated the stove and will be posting a video in the near future.
The harder you work, the more you enjoy your successes.Guaranteed you will never forget this hunt.
You are absolutely right!
My favorite !
You sound like Micky Mouse.
Love that Wop sound !
Nothing better!
Looks like your burner plate design leaves no place for the burnt ash to fall away into the stove as it burns, so it eventually chokes out its own air supply. Most of these do not rest the angled plate directly on the bottom of the inlet pipe. They leave a small gap at the bottom and as ash works its way to the bottom of the angled plate, the river of air flowing along under the plate helps blow it into the stove. They have and angled mesh or hooks pointing upward at the end of the angled plate to hold the pellets from simply falling into and clogging that lower river of air. Or You need the angled burn grate to extend into the stove farther(with the same hooked grate at the end) so the ash falls off the bottom end into the stove, like it does when you push in the burn plate. Opening the front door vent makes no sense and I am not understanding why the grate does not clog even faster with less draw/air in thru the pellet burner. The open door vent will also send more of your warm tent air up the chimney to be replaced by cold outside air thru every opening in the tent. All of your pellet burner air should come from a duct that extends outside the tent. The first year I put in a pellet stove I was terribly disappointed with the warmth in the house until I realized it was pumping a tremendous volume of room air up the chimney and sucking in cold air from every crack in the structure. Once I brought that combustion air in directly from outside and brought in a second outside air source to feed the heat exchanger with fresh outside air and pressurize the house with warm fresh air, my comfort level went up tremendously. Thanks for sharing your testing.
I love your ideas. Bringing in air from outside the tent never crossed my mind. Definitely something to look into Thanks 👍
@@chasethehunt2187 outside combustion air was great, but adding fresh outside ventilation air with a 3” computer fan blowing into a duct that fed the heat exchanger inlet made all the difference. That little bit of pressure turned all the cracks in the house into exhaust vents pushing out the cooler peripheral air and replacing it with fresh heated air. The whole room was immediately warm and the steady flow of fresh air was a nice change from the usually sealed stuffy winter house… I am working on a plan for a small pellet heater for an overland RV I am building. Here is one of the more innovative burner designs I have come across. I think I am going to build a test one today since it is raining here. This one is cool because you can control the size/volume of the burner, and throttle it… note the gap at the bottom(this one almost looks too large) but the river of air should continuously sweep the ash into the ashpan/stove body and maintain a clean burner and consistent burn… ua-cam.com/video/rTkYyFNLqQM/v-deo.htmlsi=zC9LhIijy-41bVkd
I made a test burner this weekend, more along the lines of the video i linked to. Works great! The gap under the burner seems to be the key, one I have missed in my previous attempts. The river of air flowing under the burner keeps the pathway clean and keeps ash from piling up and clogging the burner… i also didn’t drill holes and made the burner with long vertical slots.
I’m thinking a pair of options would suit to minimise ash buildup. Firstly, a very simple second handle below the other one, connecting to a bit of steel flatbar just at the bottom of the burn chamber below the angle grate. Give it a jiggle to push the bottom layer of the ash bed forward into the ash drawer. Secondly, drill holes up into the bottom of the burn chamber, weld on a section of square tube with one side removed, and fit a drawer into it. This will allow the bulk of the ash to drop straight down, but any heat being generated still contributes to the overall burn.
Thanks for the ideas 🙂
I'd fight it!
