Weight loss Journey episode 1. My first ever wild camp !
Hey FBB - congratulations on the weight loss🎉 keep going. Your adventures are filled with suspense and drama!! Glad you did the weight loss update confirming you had got home safely!!! 👏 Good review for your £50.00 tent …… so far😮 Have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
@@gillianflanders3389 Hello again Gillian, yes the weight loss had to be put in but a little part of me wanted to be able to leave it on a cliff hanger until part 2 😃! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
as a fellow OAP similar age and out look on life, i salute you on getting out there and your tent pitch selection , and getting up jacobs ladder, keep going .
Hey there, well not quite OAP status yet lol but thank you I really appreciate that. It's just the next level of my weight loss journey and attempting to enjoy life more. Lovely to meet you, hope you enjoy my journey and hope life is treating you well in yours.
Another excellent video Pete. I loved the dramatic music as the tent was shaking in the wind. Look forward to the next episode 👍
@@iandism Thanks Ian, I just wanted the music to reflect my heartbeat at the time lol. It was so intense, the tents a little broken qnd battered right now.
Good morning matey 26.6kgs is amazing so proud of you. Oh my that wind was bloody relentless holy moly,.I've dealt with relentless rain but wind is so much worse. Especially when your confined to your sleeping bag and tent, What an adventure though, our adventures may not always be how we foresaw them but they definitely aren't lacking intensity or passion aye lol. Those fluffy looking Angus cattle were adorable they had the biggest fluffiest ears 😂. So cute they should be illegal like those tiny miniature Shetland ponies. Much love my friend I'm so proud of you. The camera going upside down had me laughing so much it's funny how easy it is to get turned around aye. Have a blessed rest of your weekend and week ahead.
@@UrbanKiwiana Dude, you have me smiling from ear to ear. I think you sir got that video completely. I am so please, you got the cute stuff which was adorable but you also go the intensity of the high winds situation. In the middle of the night when your tents literally being shaken to pieces in front of you, it certainly got the heart racing. I am sure you know aye 😏! Tiny Shetland ponies are cute and thanks for naming the cows I wondered which breed they were lol. The weight loss has been amazing, already feeling some great benefits from it. Stay safe my Kiwi friend, speak soon.
@FatBoyBald-45 +Lol happy to bring forth the smileys, they looked like Our Angus cattle but been the UK you lot may of changed their name lol.. And it's next level the intensity of the howling wind my friend, and the driving power of the rain.. It's in those moments when you can't hear anything that it either breaks you or excites you.. Like for me and my nephew he couldn't handle the rising waters and torrential rains 24 hours later and quit, rather then being like us and realizing it's part of the adventure.. Now here it's exhaustingly hot
@@UrbanKiwiana I agree my friend it is part of the adventure and each adventure shapes us. But you know what they say, it's a fine line between genius and insanity 😃 😀. Hope your OK in that heat, after walking in Spain in plus 40 degrees I hear you. Take care my Kiwi friend, one day we shall summit something together 😀
@FatBoyBald-45 +Lol indeed I tend to push a little to far sometimes I think like swimming in flooding rivers etc lol. And that would be a fine summit adventure to🌞 have a blessed week ahead mate
Hello FBB. Good video for me to learn from your experience. It's always a disappointment if a trip doesn't go as one imagines. impressed your stepping well out of your comfort zone so early on. if your going to be doing more of these multiday trips into the big hills then look into something like the garmin inreach, yes theyre expensive but if the worst happens and you have an injury and no mobile signal you can get help, lots of other potentially halpfull functions. maps and compass skills. if relying on maps on your phone download then in case you lose mobile coverage. look into get yourself some drybags, essential for your spare clothes, just in case wet gets past the cover. good luck, have fun, dont take chances. if a path or route doesnt feel safe it probably isnt

Good afternoon but early morning to you mate.. those canal boats are so stunning I've always loved those, these lots there like there are lots of camper vans and Rvs here in New Zealand it's the new way of life in New Zealand, people selling up and downing sizing and just traveling around the country. Well done on the weight loss FBB!! My heart was in my mouth with the night camping. I love to camp - but campsites only for me. Have a good week and maybe a wild camp and dip in the water some where for Christmas?

Good video dib dib dib, dob dob dob I'm sure scouts would have been fine 😂
Another enjoyable video Pete. The camp set up looked very good. The hammock and tarp looked very comfy. I always fancied buying and living on a canal boat, they are gorgeous. I ended up buying an old pre 1940s Bluebird caravan instead though, but no regrets, as it was a home I absolutely loved for many years. A canal walk is something different again. Well done on the weight loss mate, a fantastic achievement. I have caught up with all your videos now, and look forward to the future uploads 👍
Hello again Ian, a canal boat is something I would have considered once but now I have my heart set on a 4 wheeled home to really get out there exploring. (possible sneak peek of a future season there !) I cannot find a bluebird pre 40's but judging similar ones of that era I can see why you loved it. Cannot believe you have binged watched all the video's already, amazing 😁. Thank you for your support and kind words. Stay safe.
If you could send me your address Pete, I recently upgraded my Garmin GPS and you are welcome to have my old one. Fantastic bit of kit that will not let you down like a mobile phone will, as it works by satellites above you. Yours if you want it. You can email me possibly on patrion as I have joined today.
Hey Ian, wow you joined Patrion? Now I am going to have to start posting on there now lol. You beat me to it. I'll start on it this weekend. Ill send you a message on your channel video mate. Take care
You are fast becoming my favourite channel Pete, you do such different things to the many other channels. You keep it simple, yet very entertaining. No gimmicks or top expensive gear reviews etc. The gun shots as you fell had me laughing out loud by the way, great touch you should definitely keep.
Shhhhh...don't tell anyone but the gun shot scenes are some of my favourite moments so far. If you cannot laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at 😂? So glad you like the videos, I just want the channel to be real. Yes when I start my videos will be poorer quality (always a work in progress), my content and dialog will be sketchy at times (more time than not!). But it will be real and the channel will grow as my journey does. Well that's the hope anyway. Take care.
Your positivity astounds me Pete. Getting in that river made me cold just watching, but you did it. Maybe you should just get your knees under water and work your way up though, that will be so good for them. Please take a nice warm pair of socks and trousers next time. And if anyone from Dry Robe company is watching, please sponsor Pete and give him a Robe to keep him warm on his spiritual journey. He certainly deserves it. Great video and not too long. I enjoyed every minute 👍
@@iandism wow again thank you for your kind words. To he honest the channel has been full of positively since I started this and it gives you great hope for the world. Yes please Dry Robe please reach out 😀😃. But you may have a point about just going knee high, that may help. Sneek preview, there is another river video coming up soon!!! Much love.
After watching this morning, I got out of bed and went for a walk Pete. It felt great to be outside again, even if just for a short while. Thanks to your positive attitude, it is pushing me to do more, so thank you 👍
@@iandism Ian, you talk about my positivity, but listening to you defines positivity to me. It inspires me to want to get out there more and seize the moment. But if I can do anything to help you along, to drive you to get out more then that's my pleasure. Little steps my friend, there is much beauty just outside our front doors. Take care, be safe.
I woke up this morning and couldn't wait to see the next part of your journey Pete, so I sat up in bed and watched part 2. Not only was it a pleasure to see you again, but my day started with a smile on my face when you did your hammock exit... Brilliant. You are doing so well and like I said in my previous comment, you are very inspiring. In fact, I have been thinking of doing a UA-cam channel with a similar idea, only mine is due to having cancer for the second time. I have always loved the outdoors, but chemotherapy really knocks it out of you. I have all the gear as I planned on doing the Pennine Way on my 50th, but ended up being diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma, so that put a stop to my plans. I was given 2 months to live if I didn't have treatment, I obviously did, but ten years have now passed and I now have Leukemia. Anyway, I am planning to get out there in the new year and use that gear. Some people say I should sell it, but if I do that, I have given up on my dream. The Pennine Way might not be achievable in my condition, but what you do very well might be. Thanks for everything you are doing and congratulations on your achievement. Stay safe and keep warm. All the best to you, from Ian
@@iandism Ian, wow what a story, I am so sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis, I of course do no know how that is going currently but I believe you have made the right choice to keep your gear, not give up and keep pushing forward. Well if your really thinking of documenting your own story please get in touch, maybe we can even do a trip together sometime. Take care Ian, thank you for your kind words and sharing your story. Much love.
I certainly will Pete. Hopefully I can be ready for the new year. I haven't a clue how to do the filming side of things, or uploading and actually making a little documentary film (Not a tech head by any means) Going on a camping trip with you sounds amazing, unfortunately, I no longer live in the UK. I did live in a caravan in Yorkshire for 5 years but moved back home to Guernsey quite some time ago now.

@@piscator68 Glad I could be of assistance :) there are a couple of videos now with some tips on what has worked for me. But sharing the story as I go.
Great content, nice to see someone starting out with Hammock camping. Try and pitch the hammock a little higher so you can sit in it with knees bent like a chair, perfect for a cuppa and no need to "Roll Out" 😮 also google tarp prusik knots to have the tarp tight across the Ridgeline, this wil give you more space underneath. HAPPY HAMMOCKING
Can not believe the tent was only 50q .. I seen more expensive tents, do a lot worse, in that kind of wind... I tell ya , it always hair rasing when people show up in the middle of the night... Great news. Most steaks 🥩 I see cooked on or near camp fires are burnt to a crisp or raw. Maybe cooking the steak in some foil in the embers of a fire might be the way to go.
