Blackgaol Knight (Shadow of the Erdtree)
This was the first hard fight I encountered in SotE. I watched @FightinCowboy spend 40 minutes trying to get this guy in his very first Let's Play (ua-cam.com/video/D3cDacaHzQY/v-deo.htmlsi=06YO2ZzGg5bOAsAw) so I knew what to expect. Then in his walkthrough he used a "guard boost/shield/retaliation" strategy which worked great so I thought I'd try that. But Cowboy must have had astronomical poise because I couldn't face the guy toe-to-toe. Finally I settled on a very defensive strategy with the Dragoncrest Talisman +2 for defense and the Bulls-Head for poise, getting me to 96 poise. Baiting the crossbow and then retaliating with Takers Flame seemed my best option, plus some giants flame for the knockdown (when it hits). A really great fight, used every flask and came extremely close to dying at least once.

Maliketh the Black Blade (very quick) from NG+
Переглядів 34Місяць тому
On my first playthrough I blasted the sentinel outside Maliketh with Comet Azur and then struggled to kill Maliketh himself. On NG as a Faith build using Blasphemous Blade spent 20 minutes trying to get by the sentinel outside Maliketh's room before finally doing him in with a lot of dodging plus scarlet rot and the Blasphemous Blade. Then, I took on Maliketh, and on my first try, pretty much j...

By far the most difficult battle (for me, anyway) in the game and a memorable boss across the many games I've played. Probably took more time than all other bosses combined. I did use the accessibility controls to guarantee that I won all the QTE events because somehow I could never win them legit no matter what I did. This was the hardest fight before the series of endgame bosses. Watching this after finishing the game, I realize how many opportunities I missed in this battle. The endgame bosses really ramped up my skill level.

This was the most difficult (and arguably unfair) fight so far, because the first-round monsters can lock your characters up from a distance with no counter (except staggering them, which is hard when you're already understrength). I finally succeeded when I used Sleep the first time in all of rebirth and remake that I used it to get a little crowd control.

I misinterpreted the "assess" info on the tonberry and foolishly thought that you couldn't use Phoenix Down to revive characters killed by the insta-death. As a result this took a long time because if a character died I didn't even try to revive them.

    Hi Professor, wanted to say thank you so much for these great videos! Question- you write (around 6:30) for all k in Z, let A = {n in Z : n|k } I understand that this means that k is fixed here, but unknown, and we want to show that the implication is true regardless of what integer k is. Sometimes I can misunderstand this statement as: A = {n in Z: (n|k for all k in Z)} A = {1,-1} ? That is, we're looking for n where n divides all integers. Do you have advice for not making this mistake? I guess if it is on the outside of the set-builder notation, "for all k" is like "given any specific k" ? Thanks again for your videos.

    • @jeremy9959
      @jeremy9959 Рік тому

      I think this is partly sloppiness on my part. For clarity, I should say "given k in Z, let A be the set of n in Z such that n divides k." Or, for all k in Z, let A(k) be the set of n in Z such that n divides k. But as a practical matter, if you say "For all k, blah(k)" it means that for any specific choice of k, blah is true for that k.

    I discovered another bug. During the boss fight I, while dodging, end up in the surrounding water, I thought of using it to sneak past the Tideripper but it followed me (got into the water), so I got back on the platform. I look around, no machine. I'm thinking it's still in the water, but then I look up and it's floating above. Moving as if swimming but in the air. I couldn't say no to this. Got the easiest boss fight 🙂

    The problem about the absolute value of the difference of x and y confused me in regards to x and y being elements of X. Is saying x and y are elements of X just a different way of saying that x and y are natural numbers? Is there a particular reason for saying it that way instead of saying x and y are natural numbers? Just wondering.

    • @jeremy9959
      @jeremy9959 2 роки тому

      There's a two step process involved. First, you choose a subset X of the natural numbers. Then you ask whether the largest difference |x-y| for any two elements x and y OF YOUR CHOSEN SUBSET X is less than 2. If so, then your subset is in B. If not, it isn't. The point is that you are describing a set B whose elements are themselves sets. Hope this helps.

    First, thank you very much for making and posting your videos for Book of Proof! They are excellent - very informative and enlightening! As a retired high school teacher, your videos have helped me review set theory and general proof techniques that I have not seen in 30 years! FYI: In this Ch 7 - 3 video, you referred to “this one,” but I had no idea what “this one” was. I did not see anything in the video indicating what “this one” was referencing. Then at the end of the video you referred to “this column,” but I could not tell which ones.
