Do you mean right at the beginning? I'd say to use the 4 empty bars at the beginning to get your 1,2,3,4 right by watching the bar dividers then you'll be on point for the first crash on 1 when you get to bar 5. Easier to show how to do this in person, for sure.

I agree with you, i'd say by the time you get to count 3 on bar 22 you should start accenting the first semi-quaver of each group. So, trying to put it into text, it would look something like: [bar21] 1e&a, 2e&a, 3e&a, 4e&a; [bar22] 1e&a, 2e&a, 3(accent)e&a 4(accent)e&a; [bar23] 1(accent)e&a, 2(accent)e&a, 3(accent)e&a, 4(accent)e&a; [bar24] 1(accent)e&a, 2(accent)e&a, 3(accent)e&a, 4e&a; [bar25] CRASH! Sorry, it's hard to type what i'm thinking but i hope you get what i'm trying to say.

Thank you for sharing this and never mind the dressing gown, when i'm off camera i often wear my PJ's to practice! Standard drummer attire you may say! HAHA I think you're doing really well here, my only comments would be to keep your snare hand from resting on your leg, i was guilty of this at the start but the only way to build the muscle and dexterity up is to keep your position true, always. Other than that, you could maybe work on keeping your heel up although this will come naturally with time as you start playing faster tracks. I'd say just keep practicing, you're well on your way and like everything, you will improve the more you practice. We will update this comment when James get's chance to have a look at your video, he is actually a drum teacher so will likely pick up on things that i don't. (FYI, he's the one who actually drums in this video)

@@kickbackstudiouk thanks man, I do have an issue where my left hand is hitting off my left leg, it’s a bit sore on my pinky, have tried raising snare but can’t get it any higher, and if I lower stool my legs will be more or less 90deg and there supposed to be angled slightly downward I read somewhere, might put some blocks of wood under the actual stand of the kit as I can’t raise the frame any higher either.

On this video, it's our old way of doing things but the principle is still the same as the new way, we just felt that this way didn't give the player chance to see what's coming up next. For this particular video we had to score it (we use Musescore which is a great, free program), cut the score up in Photoshop and add each line image to the video then use positioning tools in Final Cut to move the playhead in time with the video. On our newer videos we have to score it, then edit the score in Photoshop to get it all in a single line, then in Final Cut use positioning tools to move the score in time with what's happening on the video. It's a long process either way, worth the effort though, we think. One day i might make a video explaining and demonstrating how it's done in detail if there's enough interest for that sort of thing.
