Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century

Once the world's most famous recorder player, today Frans Brüggen is considered among the foremost experts in the performance of eighteenth century music. He was born in Amsterdam and studied musicology at the university there. At 21, he was appointed professor at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and later held position as Erasmus Professor at the Harvard University and Regents Professor at the University of Berkeley. Yet, as Luciano Berio wrote, he is "a musician who is not an archeologist but a great artist".

It would help if there was some English subtitles in places.
Bruggen had a natural sense of music, pursued that with patient exactitude, always with an awareness of the emotional bridge of expression. So many times you see him letting people know how to fully realize something, bringing it out of his precise awareness. His leadership is a reasoned discussion of people who are headed to a common elevated expression.. I think there will be people who watch this with interest, and it will stay with them, then years later they will remember that feeling and want to come back to experience Bruggen and his fellow musicians again.

Pourquoi fallait-il attendre plus de 50 ans pour rejouer ce chef d'œuvre œuvre à plus haut niveau , après le coup de maître d'Harnoncourt, dans un de ses meilleurs enregistrements des années 60 ?
Je suis en total accord avec votre affirmation. C'est un chef-d'oeuvre peu connu mais tellement grandiose.
En fait, il existe deux autres excellents enregistrements réalisés plus récemment: l'un par Hermann Max pour Capriccio et l'autre par le Bach Consort Leipzig sous la direction de Gotthold Schwarz pour Rondeau. Ce dernier est particulièrement remarquable pour l'utilisation de solistes pour les parties chorales.
