Nice town, just watch yourself, Speedtrap City, especially on 79 near the Dairy Queen.

Commerce is amazing. I am an early riser, usually up by 4am, and being able to just get up, throw some shorts on and go run around town at 4am w/ absolutely no fear was wonderful. Very quaint, quiet, but alive town. The university keeps it fresh, there is new business each year, a couple of festivals, and the proximity to Dallas and Greenville make the town darn near a suburb. You can rent an apartment right there, downtown, if you wish, and the real estate prices are not out of reach for new families/first time buyers. TONS of history here as well, if you like exploring

Thank you so much for the memories. I have deep connections to Grandsaline. Most of my older generation of kin has died, and the younger generations have moved. Loved those 70s spent summers there. Family Reunion there at Joe Bob "Sparky" Fansler. He would go by "Sparky" Green also. He was married to Lucille Fansler. I miss spending summer time with all of my kin that lived there. So much do I miss in the 70s the Salt Festival. They would block off the street for a street dance. Had live singers. A Carnival. Went to the Grandsaline rodeo in what Native people,or connected people like me called Pole Town. Use to have to go over the railroad tracks on a wooden bridge to get there. Miss buying fireworks from my relatives in Pole Town that owned a fireworks stand. Last name is Scott. Miss going to Vacation Bible School every summer at Grandsaline Bible Baptist with Brother Williams, and then Brother Mungle took his place. I will miss those days. Can't live there too many memories. One day I hope to go back home there. That is when I am dead to be buried as close to my grandparents as I can get at Riverside Cemetery. You can clearly see I am connected to Grandsaline.

At 1:05 used to be the Ben Franklin store which was a grocery store before that in the 1950s. At 1:50 the red brick building used to be the central Post Office in the 1950s through the 60s. The vintage Mobil station was Art Shirley's Mobil. They had a full-service repair garage there as well.
