My brother -in-law was a hero in Nam.....jumped out of the chopper into river being sprayed by enemy fire to get ammo to his troops. Drank Jack Daniels with a thousand mile stare the rest of his life. RIP JACK SCHMIDT..... I've edited this to say, I think every soldier in every war we've ever fought was a hero. Especially Vietnam vets, because they died for politics. RIP and God rest your souls.

Moving video, gentlemen. As an ex UK Navy Diver from the '70's, you have my total respect. Deep feelings for your mates lost there. Hope seeing their pics again, up on the vid, brings a smile. Comparing it to my own 'times' in sand pits etc...in the words of Charles Dickens, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair." Not my place to go into the international politics of the time and it's the wrong place....suffice to say, again.....respect gentlemen, for just doing it. Be well, mates, Regards Rob

Not true. The US left it to the South Vietnamese. Then the US pulled the rug out from under them and two years later they lost. The US military did not lose. However, the cowardly politicians refused to win. Waste? Yes.

My friend Steve Brunk was the first off the copter loaded with C4 so the rest had a place to land. He was armed with a pistol. Steve really didn't get over Vietnam and in the end was abused/neglected by the VA hospital and likely died a premature painful death. Over what?

My cousin Stephen Michael Lynch of Middltown, NY was a grunt in the 101st Airborne in the fall of 1968 and had his foot blown off by an RPG. Sadly the pain of shrapnel and trimming of his leg bones resulted in a life long addiction to narcotics. He OD'ed on heroin and fentanyl on June 24, 2014 and finally was at peace. I miss him. God bless him.

War changes you. My brother (Australian Regular Army) served in Vietnam with the American Forces sorting out Vietcong ammo dumps and tunnels etc but was shot and killed in Phuoc Thuy Province 1971, he wrote and told me how great the American guys were and especially the door gunners who kept the enemy at bay while the men landed and got back on the Huey choppers. He passed away just as he was loaded on the Huey. I wished I had been there with him as he wanted me to join the Army, but I wanted to become a Police Officer instead. Thanks to all the guys who were with my brother that day. Respect to each and everyone who served, to those that didn't make it back, those who made it home but who never really left. I salute you all!

God bless these souls, and brave heroes! They never failed there mission or there country, but there country failed them. They should have came back heroes, but instead they was hated, dispirited, and spit upon. Not for what they did, but for the lies the media told about them. Just like today the lies the media is telling about trump. So, to all that served in Vietnam and our current military thank you for your service we appreciate everything you did and are doing for us. 🎖️🎖️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

My brother was in the Vietnam War, he was called home because my mother had her 9th child ,and they thought she was going to hemorrhage to death ,while he was home his entire barracks was blown up ,all there died that day ,but for him being called home. When he came back from the war ,he came back a different man . The horrors he saw , and had to fight for ,is unspeakable ,not to mention the guilt he had of living when his brothers all died

Both my brothers were drafted. One came home basically normal; the other had PTSD and the effects of agent Orange it was a terrible, senseless ( to me ) war in which about 58,000 young Americans lost their lives, many families left broken, and billions of dollars spent. What did we gain?
