The Latest with Verner Motor at Sun n Fun '24
This video focuses on what's been going on with the Verner radial engines during our time at Sun n Fun.
This year we've got Radial Conversions' Brian Kelly with his striking RV-8R, the front end of Steve Wolf's P-47 project, and of course our P-36 Litefighter, all in our display booth and each with a Verner. Additionally Junkers unveiled their latest creation sporting a Verner 7-cylinder and we had a brief appearance of Steve Wolf's Samson Mite during the week as well.
It was great to see and hear all the radials on display at the show. It seems round engines never go out of style.

Beautiful airplane with a beautiful sound. And that climb out after take off! Motor's got some serious torque!
I was wondering if Verner radials were good for acro. Now I know.
Holy Moses, that thing moves!! Biplanes are supposed to be slow! What a beauty. Reminding myself that Thou shalt not covet.
There is an Australian company that makes a Chevy LS based V-12 that would probably be a perfect engine for a P-40 variant.
That’s awesome! But inquiring minds want to know…when will you crank out 1:1 one’s! That would be awesome!
lol, the RV8 was originally built with a Rotec.... I'd love to hear his story as why he switched over to Verner :)
Only downside it the very low oil savage oil tank. Other then that nice engine!
I was trying to figure out what body of water that is... Long Island Sound? And yeah, I noticed the same thing as @JohnVHRC.
great, we want see the engine without the cowl please.
would love to see these guys tackle a scaled down SBD dauntless
Great Information guys!!!! You just made up my mind on the Kitfox 7.
How’s that 11s coming?
I remember seeing the Original Samson @ Rose Festival Air Show (Portland Rose Festival) back in the '80s. Loud & Quick.
Any way of bumping up those HP numbers?
The soul feel only with a radial. Beautiful aircraft
Wow, does that prop rotation look WEIRD! I know it's due to the frame rate vs the engine speed, but I've never seen it THAT BAD on plane videos before.
Living the dream. I love the quality of your work! And that Verner radial is the icing on the cake.
This is great! My uncle was 2nd Lt John Dains of the 47th Pursuit Squadron, 15th Pursuit group based at Wheeler/Haleiwa. He got airborn on December 7th and shot down the first Japanese aircraft. He flew both the P-40 and P-36 that day. Unfortunately, he was killed by friendly fire while trying to land back at Wheeler in his P-36 alongside the others from the 47th. He would have been proud to see this creation, I'm sure. Best of luck sir
Awesome build kudos. :o)
I was at Loves Landing when Steve flew your aircraft and you were putting his engine into your trailer to go down to SnF. The sound your engine made on the flypast was awesome. I wish you every success with your project. Regards from South Africa.
Did you ever consider designing and building a 100% scale replica of the small Curtiss-Wright CW-21 interceptor? It was a light weight fighter design with a high climb rate. It had some (limited) success against Japanese fighters in the Dutch East Indies in 1942. With better training and preparation of the Dutch pilots it would have fared even better... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss-Wright_CW-21
Beautiful bird!
What an exciting video!!!
Sounds marvelous, flying over!
Nice airplane! I wonder if it be possible to fit export Hawk 75 style spats to the fixed landing gear?
Very nice! Greetings from Linz Austria 🇦🇹 Europe!
My first house I bought, in my hometown in Canada, was previously owned by a couple who lived there from 1969 until the husband passed away in 2017. All this to say, he worked as an aeronautical engineer locally, and was born in Linz! So greetings, from Canada.
Very interesting! One day I would like to go to to Canada to BC for visiting an old friend from Vancouver Island and doing some researching about Sasquatch there. Many Greetings! 😎👍🏔🍺🍀
YOOnkers and WAHcoh ;-) but I'm very excited to see Verner continuing to grow and I hope to be in the market for one soon
Junkers is pronounced yunkers
since it's fixed gear, why not build a set of wheel pants and call it a Hawk 75, which is basically a P-36 with fixed gear. There is only one remaining Hawk 75, and it is in the Thai Air Force museum in Bangkok.
We're definitely looking into that!
I was hoping 'Timber Tiger' might have been there with the S5 Ryan... Must not be finished yet.
I emailed them several weeks ago had interest in buying a tiger did not get a reply
Looking forward to the release of these kits. Even though these are smaller scale, they look the part and have their own thing going instead of looking like a scaled down fighter. I love it.
What is the fuel consumption per hour on cruising settings? I'd say on 50% and 75% for example.
I wish I would have seen it while I was at SnF. Beautiful little airplane.
Sounds good ❤
Looks great, especially in the air. Apart from the gear being down, it looked like the real thing and it sounds so wonderful too. A lot of fun I suspect ✌️👍😊
High praise from Steve, congrats on a good design and build.
Very neat little aircraft. I'm wondering that this aircraft has any storage compartment? I mean for a smaller or midsized duffle bag for example, in what a man can carry his stuffs for a week holiday?
its not grafity fed
Nice build
Put your website link in the video description to make it easier for someone to look your business up
I love the engine sound... Sounds like a WWII P-36 !!! Beautiful Skypark also nice runway !
Damn, I thought I was watching RC models. There's people in them there planes!
Nice work
Hey is there any update about the 50% b-17
Low control forces 😢
I can't wait to see the retractable undercarriage one! A paintscheme tribute to Phil Rasmussen's P-36 would be awesome, he shot down a Zero over Pearl Harbor on 7th of December, 1941. I love the place too, a very nice little landing strip, real backyard airstrip. What would be the range of this little aircraft? Where are the fueltank (or tanks, if they are in the wings), and how much fuel can be stored?
Sounds great with that radial.
cool aircraft
Fantastic! couldn't make it to SnF this year but will try to drop in on you this fall.
First! Great looking bird, do you have a web site?
