This is a channel almost exclusively for blind retro gaming, so I'm hoping you can find a little corner of nostalgia somewhere around here!
I upload twice a week, and generally alternate between 2 series. This is a hobby, so I sometimes fall behind, but that's the basic schedule!

Wow that Gribbler was terrifying! Glad you were able to deal with her! The game is really picking up now!
history lesson for pro-est longest journey gamers: mer people are technically human since they're genetically engineered from humans. the 'bafath' engineered them and many more. in this game, the bafath would be the vanguard. the bafath went extinct in the 1980s after a 30,000 year reign. the high scientists of atlantis they were, who began anew in giza, egypt and concealed their base deep in the earth beneath where the pyramids would later stand. the bafath were eliminated in self-defence when they tried to steal a whole world in the dal universe. some of the greatest hits of the bafath include religion as a template, christianity, and the state project of israel or whatever you want to call it. the bafath were the extra-terrestrial masters and controllers to a very high degree of the roman empire, the third reich, washington, and, naturally, israel. i know the bafath well and probably i'm the best historian on them. religion doesn't happen naturally.. humans normally swing the way of nature and its laws, i.e., relegeon unless corrupted through some bafath-grade values of fear and all that (religion) to serve a vengeful god of the false almighty instead of creating and humouring an optional, free-willed set of nature deities and abiding by the constance of nature. but you probably didn't need to know all that because you're all highly trained professionals.
This game is wild. I'm glad you've stuck with it. Amazing dedication
r/unexpectedpython 😆
Gotta love Crow. Really lightens up the game. 😁
The true longest journey was the pants portal we travelled through along the way!
Also also Nice to see you, Crow! I've missed you so much, Crow! Glad to see you out of that chest, Crow! 😁
The coins are made of iron, that's why the magnetic screwdriver worked. Also, from the manual: "April Ryan, the protagonist of The Longest Journey (and your alter ego in the game), can't die. We believe it's very frustrating for the player to spend hours solving a puzzle only to have a piano dropped on her head when she pushes the wrong lever. But this doesn't mean the game isn't challenging. It just means that, whatever you do, right or wrong, you don't have to worry about being punished. Games are supposed to be fun, not aggravating."
Fun fact! I haven't watched how far you've gone, but if you feel comfortable with regular pistol, sniper rifle, or even the GEP gun, they'll actually serve you the best in ranged stealth. There's a video out there that explains why the silenced pistol is actually the worst tool you can utilize for killing baddies quietly, it's pretty easy to find in a search. Not gonna go into specifics here since the youtube bots get weird about that, for some reason. I'm happy to see you playing this, though.
You should play Revision after this with the LadyDenton mod, which is included.
I've never played this game; people keep telling me it's good. But when 7 armed guards file into the lunch room to escape a gas leak, it brings a quality you can only really appreciate when experienced with a friend. Thank you for being that para-social friend :D
This is why retro gaming will never die.
Damn killing Anna so easily is impressive as hell. Like seriously I don't think many players win that on their first playthrough. Even on like my 10th playthrough I usually fall back on popping in and out of all the vents to shoot her in the back, Scooby Doo style. BTW If you lose you get captured by Anna and she shows up at the cell window to taunt you, telling you to prepare for your execution. Then you'd actually fight Anna Navarre one more time at the Unatco exit. Also you can get the activation Phrase for Gunther's killswitch by hacking Unatco computers.
5:07 That made the next five minutes kinda painfull to watch. You we're already 99% escaped from the base. Those stairs just a lil to your right would've taken you out and back to Paul. That door you went back in through is my preferred escape route. So close to a zero kill flawless escape... oof
do you have a boyfriend and do you have instagram?
I always loved this part of the game. Suddenly losing your gear and ammo, and then having to escape captivity really changes the pacing and adds new challenges.
Yes, I love when games do this!
Walton Simons did actually activate your killswitch. That's why you need to go see Tracer Tong. You have something like 24 hours to live. He also ordered the troops to hunt you down, but the killswitch is the long-term plan to kill you. The reason you need to find Paul's body is to retrieve data from his data vault (which is like the notes page you've been using to look up keycodes and such, but for Paul) because he had information on how to deactivate the killswitch which you need to give to Tracer Tong! Anyway, if you want more information on Walton Simons press the "Play Intro" button at the main menu of the game. You don't have to include it in your recording but it'll give you the overview of everything going on!
Not a bad idea to re-watch the intro. The first (two!) times I watched it, nothing stuck. Now that I'm more familiar, I'm sure it will make more sense.
I really loved the way you dealt with getting out of NSF HQ using that gas grenade! That was hilarious! Don't listen to the idiots posting spoilers or telling you that you HAVE to kill everyone. People have beaten this entire game without killing anyone, so don't worry about that! When I did the NSF HQ part I actually knocked out all the soldiers using the baton before I activated the satellite dishes at the top. It's much easier to do when all the soldiers are friendly so they don't shoot at you on sight! But you have to be careful about hiding the unconscious bodies or they will turn hostile
Yeah it's fascinating how many comments I get that are like "Wow, you're really killing a bunch of people....not quite the way I'd do it" to "you should kill more people". So I'll keep my healthy mix of death-dealing!
13:14 when you're hacked into a security computer you can click on each of the 3 cameras and there are more doors you can open via the buttons. See below each camera view there is a separate camera and door status. This also works for cameras that control turrets
Yeah, I missed it on the first terminal, and remembered it on a later one. The countdown makes me panic lol
@@psychemode If you upgrade your hacking skill again it makes the countdown timer last WAY longer. It also gives you control over turrets which you normally don't have unless you use a login and password
Yeah, now would be a good time to check my skill points again, see if I've saved up enough to level up hacking - or maybe lockpicking/mutitools.....
If you hadn't sneak out the window at Ton's Hotel, Paul would have been alive. Sneaking out the window triggers that he's dead. That being said, the story will be more or less the same so it's entirely your choice on how to proceed. Also, you will HAVE to start killing enemies because the game will get really difficult from this point on. Basically it is you against everyone... MJ12 troops and commandos, Unatco, artificially generated mutants, local police ... including mini bosses such as Gunther Hermann, Bob Page, Walton Simons and many others. Also keep in mind that all Men in Black (and women) explode upon death just like Anna and Gunther. Oh and another thing - your killswitch had been activated, but it takes some time. Obviously, this isn't a real timed process, rather than part of the storyline, which is why you need to go see Tracer Tong in Hong Kong as soon as possible.
Hey what the hell? This is a BLIND playthrough! No spoilers!
@@chongli297 None of the things I wrote above are spoilers, just plain facts. At this point she would need to remember (and recognize) some of the characters which had been mentioned in the previous conversations or even interactions. For example, Denton spoke to Bob Page during the training exercise, at the very end. Page appeared as a hologram, at the comm unit. Furthermore, if Anna Navarre had not been killed at the train station she would have been alive & present outside of detention cell. And she would refer to Denton's kill-switch by saying "I came to watch you die", where Denton would answer her back "You're early, I still have at least couple more hours left" or something along those lines. Thus none of these things are spoilers but rather facts, something she needs to know & keep in mind. As for the battle technique & facing mini bosses, those two are pretty obvious. Sooner or later she will have to face all of them, and once again I'm sorry to say that "stealth & enemy avoiding technique with minimal killing" isn't going to work.
Paul is dead, he will soon be revealed to have been the walrus.
Coocoo-cachoo!
lol!!! 16:25 The women’s restroom bit had me cracking up.
Ah, I've been looking forward to this part! Well done getting Anna on the first try. She usually handed me my posterior. Sneaking your way to a gun and blasting your way out, while not that subtle, is a completely reasonable thing to do. You tend to leave yourself low on ammo though. It might be a good idea to get in the habit of reloading manually...whatever that key is. Something weird like comma. You can get your modded pistol back from the armory; your gear is spread out on a few black shelves. Make sure you don't have a pistol in your inventory when you pick it up. That's the last time in the game you can lose your pistol, I think. Glad you're enjoying the game!
+1 on the reload. The UI was not really meant to be played on this resolution. That 5x3 pixel font really didnt age well and makes it difficult to read at a glance. At least the inventory bar has icons.
Every time I sit down to play, I think "today's the day I look up the reload button" and then I just......don't do it. Dunno what's wrong with me. I also never opened the map they gave me of the facility, that will be helpful for me to know where to go and what's left in this crazy labyrinth - including, I assume, the armory! Exciting to get my pistol back!
@@psychemode When you find the armoury with all of your stuff what you want to do is drop EVERYTHING in your inventory and then pick up your stuff (which will fill your inventory the way it was before you got captured). Then after getting all your stuff back you can pick up all the new stuff you found during the escape. Otherwise the game can be somewhat buggy and cause you to lose certain things permanently (including the upgrades on your old pistol)
Such a crazy part of the game
Oh you like books? Name five albums!
I keep forgetting to reply to this, but it gave me a good chuckle! Saw someone wearing a Nirvana shirt the other day, and immediately wondered if she knew about the meme haha
@@psychemode Is it because they enjoy the music? Or is it simply because Nirvana is a cool word? Is there ever truly an invalid reason to wear a t shirt? “Hey shirt-person! Thanks for the existential quandary!”
I promise, this game will have gameplay at some point.
10 hours in, the game's almost getting started! Whooooo! lol
@@psychemode > To be fair, I prefer watching that than Deus Ex, which is all gameplay and no story.
Welcome back! Hope you're feeling better! Wow, this one was a big ol' exposition dump! Been a long, long time since I played a game that pulled one of these! Great stuff though!
“My wife is, was and will be, the beautiful Alyson Hannigan! If you could please go let her know now, or then, or like… medium soon”
6:40 That guy reminds me of Zathras in Babylon 5, rambling about past, present and future in confusing ways. (although it probably was over 20 years ago I watched it, probably overdue a rewatch) And welcome back! 😉
It reminds me of that comedian, Steven Wright. Just as timeless, but not nearly as funny!
Hey u nerd =) were u even born when these games came out =P It was a rival to the kings quest series ? (Equally as good) There was only three of them... Excellent music- The main villian of the series clown/jester or whatever malcom turns into a hero in the last one (Oops spoiler =) ) Which one was the best? I dunno the 2nd one was okay you play as the chick- police quest, kings quest, space quest quest for glory all these quest point n click adventure games i remember the adventures of willy beamish was pretty cool the blonde nurse at the start aroused me as a kid =) quest for glory 4 shadows of darkness was really good i had a crush on the villian chick in that game and the resulka pitty the game was filled with so many bugs- kings quest 5 and 6 hold a special place in my heart- prince of persia 2 on pc was also an extreme addiction/obssession i remember =) ...
Yeah that basement segment is annoying sometimes. Even on stealth playthoughs I tend to fling that TNT around like Donkey Kong. One of the fun storyplaying through mechanics here is that combat in the game is gonna suddenly be much much harder now you're fighting against the state with it's heavily armed troops and military grade mechs rather than the plucky rebels. Those rockets and emp grenades will come in handy. What I do is use the prod charger on the trusting soldiers on the roof. Saves me having to kill the poor sods. Bit cheesy but effective.
That's actually a different warehouse from the one you stormed from the roofs previously. When I played this as a kid I also mixed them up in my memory, but they are different, albeit similar, buildings.
That explains why the basement is completely different.
you run around like a crazy lunatic without looking at what your doing, you miss things right in front of you
Don't forget about the medical bot and repair bot! They can fill you up if you take too much damage (or use too much energy with your new fancy ballistic protection aug)!
Tip: for moving around objects carefully, crouch before setting them down. This guarantees that you won't accidentally blow up a TNT crate when setting it down (unless you throw it off a ledge). This crouch technique is also silent, so it avoids alerting nearby enemies when you're trying to move stuff around
So funny to see you struggling with the ladders in this game. They're by far the worst-designed ladders I've ever seen in a game! They're not "sticky" so you just fall off them if you get too far away. Plus when you're on a ladder the game doesn't disable your horizontal movement, so it's very easy to walk away from the ladder into mid-air and then fall like Wile-E-Coyote! The trick to using the ladder safely is to hug the darn thing for dear life and look towards the wall, not away from it, while looking down and going slow. Going up the ladder is much the same but you're looking up and facing the wall so it tends to be easier!
The ladders are okay, that whole sticky nonsense was implemented in later years... real gamers hug the ladders! ;)
I actually don’t know what happens if you let her live so now we’re in unexplored 25 year old game territory.
Let's see next video if Paul lives or dies eh :)

This is why the time skip feature is handy 😅
Yeah, I know, I keep remembering it exists - but it's so dangerous! The warning on the settings screen is right - I will somehow skip something important!
Loving this so much! The rabbit hole goes deeper and deeper! The designers of this game really knew how to create a sense of wonder. Such a rare treasure!
And I thought that the Skyrim tutorial was too long. Here it's one hour. Tell me you can skip it.
You can! But then you wouldn't know any of the buttons haha - it feels similar to the optional Half Life tutorial, actually.
@@psychemode > Oh, good! I've never played HL either. I'm still playing Daggerfall.
This is where my favourite part of the game begins.
Yay, looking forward to it!
That is definitely not what a dot matrix printer sounds like 😂
I was gonna say.........I remember it being MUCH more high-pitched!
Elaine and Guybrush's interaction in the Lime Grove was really cute. Even tho they're not as schmoozy as the older games, theyre just chatting and bouncing ideas off each other. Theyre an old married couple now and it's sweet
