Just what i was looking for, going to buy this from your etsy store shortly.
I am so happy you found my pattern! I am running a sale on my main website if you are still planning on purchasing the pattern.
Footed pajamas are cute and comfy!
I agree ;)
I’m looking at the material type on the pattern. So I can use cotton fabric and then knit for the neck band?
Hi! Yes, you can use cotton for the bib and knit for the neck band. As long as the kid's head follows the head circumference measurements on the info page ;)
Thank you!
Hi, love the pattern, could you please tell me if the elastic is pinned level with the cuff edges or just below, my eyes arent so good any more. Thank you
Hi! I try to pin some of the elastic to the cuff edge so it sits more snug towards the pant waistline. Depending on the thickness of the fabric, there may be more or less that attach to the cuff edge.
Thank you for an excellent tutorial on sewing centre plackets to a shirt. It always baffled me how it was done. It is quite a science. I shall now practice on a small piece so I get the idea. It is clever how they overlap and no raw edges anywhere.
This is the best video sensory-wise. Very easy to follow too
I’m glad to hear the video made it easy to follow along!
For stretch material would I use a non stretch interfacing? Thanks
Hi! I am so sorry for the delayed response: you need fusible knit interfacing, specifically made for knit fabrics. The knit interfacing stabilizes the knits but still moves with the material. Non-stretch/woven interfacing works around the button placket in this pattern, but may feel a bit stiff.
Thank you for this video. I learned a lot from it👍👍👍
I’m glad to hear that ☺️
Great tutorial!! thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
I love all your patterns and these videos are so helpful! I have to order the turtleneck pattern next! Thank you!
Glad you like them!
This if fantastic! I just purchased the pattern. I was using elastic but this looks so much better.. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for your tutorials. I’m a visual learner and need these.
You're very welcome!
This pattern is so cute! ❤
So glad to hear you like it! I love using it for layers on the kids.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Is there audio to this video?
Hi Janie, The video is a visual sewing tutorial going along with the instructions. There is no voice over. If you’re needing more help on a certain step, feel free to email for additional help.
How do you cut the neck hole out?
Hi Janice! You’ll cut it out according to the pattern. There is circular marking in the upper-center of the pattern piece where you cut out for the neck.
Thank you Jacqueline 😊
Thank you Robyn ☺️
Is There A Hack To Add Mittens To This ? 🙈 I Made My First Onesie but definitely need mittens 💗😭
Hi Doris! To make things easier, I have a add-on mitten pattern specifically for the zip Coverall: jaykaiy.com/products/fold-over-mitten-zip-coverall
Are you ever going to make a video tutorial for the sleep sack pattern?
Hi Danielle, the Sleep Sack pattern is on my to-film list, for sure!
Thrilled I discovered this pattern and tutorial! Your tutorial is simple yet explained well.I am downsizing it to fit a Waldorf Baby Doll I made in a class From “Fabs of Fig and Me.” Thank you for such a great tutorial . Now I can’t wait to watch your others! ♥️
Thank you for the kind words and good luck with your project!
Thank u this was a really helpful tutorial !
Hi! Glad to hear you found the tutorial helpful :)
What type of fabric are you using in the video? It looks very nice!
Hi, the lion print fabric is a Jersey Knit from Jo-Ann’s.
Do you have a video for the sleep sack pattern you have? I purchased the pattern but would love a video to have an idea how to go about making it.
Hi, thank you for reaching out! I do not currently have a video for the sleep sack pattern. The construction of the sleep sack is similar to the Zip Coverall as it uses the same type of zipper and zipper guard installment. The bindings on the sleep sack are attached the same way as for the Knotted Gowns (which have video tutorials as well). You are welcome to email jaykaiyco@gmail.com directly if there are steps you find tricky, and I’ll help as best I can :)
Hi can you use a double ended zip so baby's top half is warm?
Hi Louise, Yes! You can use a double ended zipper on this pattern :)
@@JaykaiyPatternCo thank you. 😊
How do I adjust to accommodate for a shorter zipper? Based on the pattern directions I was assuming I could just have a shorter zipper in the finished garment. I have a 16 inch zipper for the 0-3 size.
Hi Heidi, I have an adjustment guide I can send to you. Send an email to jaykaiyco@gmail.com and I will get that guide to you ASAP? The main idea is to cut a strip of fabric, and attach it to the bottom of the shorter zipper and this strip works as a lengthened piece. Alternatively, you adjust the pattern and move up the right front ankle piece seam the exact amount your zipper is short (2” for example). This makes the Right Front Ankle piece 2” taller, and you would then attach it at the same place your zipper ends.
Where do you get a long enough zipper ?
Hi Carla, I get up to 24-inch long zippers at both my local fabric store and at craft stores like Joann's and Michael's, and Amazon. Depending on your store you may need to check the upholstery section. Most fabric and craft stores have zippers on a roll that can be cut to length.
Purchased this pattern for my new grandson. I tried out another pattern and it was difficult to sew and instructions where unclear. Can't wait to try this one. BTW what kind of material did you use? Hello from Oklahoma
Hi April from Oklahoma! For the Zip Coverall in the video I used a jersey knit from Jo-Ann Fabrics. Another fabric I can recommend is a double-brushed polyester knit. They're soft and have a little bit more weight to them.
thank you! I'm going to buy the pattern and make it for my baby who's coming! Greetings from Brazil!
You're welcome :) How wonderful-Congratulations! Lovely to hear from you!
I love the way you shoot these videos. No nonsense and you just get straight to the point. Please keep making these!!
Thank you! I truly appreciate the kinds words!
Basics are essential always 💓 still obsessed with your knotted gown pattern. Will definitely have to branch out and get more from your shop. 😁
Yay! Glad you like the Knotted Gown Pattern. Thank you for the kind words!
Lovely & easy to follow, thanks 😊
Glad it was helpful, Sara!
When you sew the curved edge of the zipper guard, do you use a straight stitch or zig zag?
Hi Bethany, I am so sorry for my delayed response. You can use a straight stitch for the curved zipper guards edge.
@@JaykaiyPatternCo Thanks so much!
Very good but where is the pattern drafting tutorial?
Hi, this is a video tutorial/video instructions for this pattern: www.etsy.com/Jaykaiy/listing/804288748
I know you use a narrow zigzag but can you please tell me what your setting are for width and length of the zigzag stitch please so I get it right? Thanks for your help and all these videos they really help sewing these patterns. I’m making my new granddaughter some outfits she will be here in November I can’t wait. Thank you
Hi Tammy! I apologize for the delayed response. I use a 1,4mm width on my machine and 2mm length for my narrow zigzag. This makes for a narrow yet stretchy seam with less gaps between the zigzag stitches. You can test your narrow zigzag on a piece of scrap fabric. I hope this helps.
Well illustrated, thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
hii is it possible you can share this pattern with me.
Megane, you can purchase the pattern here: www.etsy.com/listing/888920931
love your video. but im having issues with my seams being too thick. is it because i didnt press them?
Hi Lauren, thank you for reaching out! If your seams are thick, it could be a combination of things. Where on the gown do you feel the seams are thickest? The thickness of the fabric you are using could impact the seams. Generally, where the binding is, the seams will be a bit thicker as they technically consist of 3-4 layers folded over each other. A good press and ironing will help for sure. Alternatively, if you are using a zigzag, you can "stagger" the seam allowances by cutting them down to different lengths, like trimming one down to 1/8" and a second to 1/4". I hope this helps.
Thank you so much for making this video🥰
Thank you for appreciating it! If you have any feedback on comments on the video, do let me know. Any feedback helps in future video production :)
@@JaykaiyPatternCo also if you could make a video sewing using just a sewing machine for people like me who don’t have a serge it would be greatly appreciated ☺️
Could you make a video tutorial of this pattern? I know you have one for the snaps but I would love to see one for the zipper!
Of course :) In fact, I’m editing the video this week.
Hi Storm! Here is the tutorial video for the Zip Coverall: ua-cam.com/video/wqsRxkF1XuI/v-deo.html
I just got your Henley Lounge Wear Set pattern, and after reading through those instructions and watching this video, they seem different. I would've thought they would be the same. Or I am just confused? This is all pretty new to me, so I just want to make sure I understand before diving in. Thanks!
Hi Elizabeth! Thank you for reaching out. You are correct, the Henley lounge wear set has a different construction than the one in this video. The lounge set has a simplified placket attachment. If you would rather follow along with this video, I would be happy to send you the instructions for this specific Henley attachment.
@@JaykaiyPatternCo thanks for the info! I will go ahead and try with the instructions I already have.
can you make this with a regular sewing machine or is a serger needed?
Hi Briana! You can make this with a regular sewing machine, as long as it has a zig zag or a stretch stitch. No need for a serger.
where is the pattern?
etsy.me/3de5O3u for the pattern :)
Thank you for the tutorial. I have purchased the pattern so this will help a lot. Your written instructions are great but I do like to see a video guide too.
That is great, Lyn! I am glad this tutorial can be of help in your sewing journey :)
Fantastic tutorial! Going to try this out!
Thanks! I hope you do :)
Hey. Thank you for the video. How much fabric do I need?
readmymind2night You’ll need 1-1.25 yards of fabric, depending on size.
