It's astonishing how much dramatic subtext was put into these classic cartoons. Even while they're terrified for the welfare of their dogs, Betty and the rich woman still find time to high-hat one another. (And it is BOTH of them, not just the rich woman). When the rich woman's dog is crying out for help, Pudgy initially takes a "Serves you right!" attitude; it takes his better nature a few moments to reassert itself. These little animations are real gems.

This song/episode reminds reminds me of vegan philosophy... every little critter has value to be on this planet. Not just our furry friends like Pudgy but also the animals many choose to eat like cows, pigs, chicken, etc.
