Stogumber station is a charming and peaceful haven on the West Somerset Railway. The station opened in 1862 but in 1971 the line from Taunton to Minehead closed, but that wasn't the end for this tiny station. By 1978 Stogumber reopened as part of the West Somerset Railway and over 40 years later is thriving, thanks to the efforts of the volunteers and Friends of Stogumber Station.

This unusual Steam Dreams tour from London to Chester had the steam engine and train arrive at Chester, then leave for turning on the triangle and then returning to Crewe. The carriages were then pulled back from Crewe to Chester diesel hauled, to pick up the passengers for the return to London.

As 2-4-0T No.13 'Kissack' approaches Ballagawne level crossing, near Castletown on the Isle of Man steam railway, the barriers fail to close to road traffic and the fireman of the engine had to jump out and warn the engine driver when it was safe to run through.

Lovely little railway, nicely run. Just wish there was more of it.
Excellent!! 'Lyn' is such an excellent example of how you build a replica of an old design, but incorporate a lot of new technology and materials into the design, rather than just reproducing the original design. Followed the design and construction of this locomotive closely through the website dedicated to it. Very impressive... It's a shame that the builders of the Manning Wardle 'Lyd' didn't do the same... And the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Museum group in Maine are making the same mistake with their replica of WW&F #7, a locomotive that's very similar to 'Lyn'. Not incorporating any new design elements to make the locomotives more reliable, powerful and wear resistant for greater longevity. Thanks for sharing from those of us "across the pond" that don't get over to the UK often enough to see such things in person.
