    Good morning, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I surrendered my life to the Lord in March of 1984. Exactly 11 years before that, in March of 1973, Pink Floyd released their grand masterpiece album, Dark Side Of The Moon. Even though I was only 9 years old at the time, I was nonetheless immediately drawn to that album. Yet, even though I was too young to understand its themes and message, I had some sort of visceral connection to it. It was so unlike any other album I had ever heard before or since. Fast forward to the present... as a Christian, in reading the Bible, I had always struggled with the Book Of Ecclesiastes. I had always viewed the Bible as being about hope and redemption, yet I could find NONE of that in Ecclesiastes! As a matter of fact, I avoided reading it as it made me feel depressed. I still recall having a brief discussion with you about it around 25 years ago, Mike. You acknowledged that it was indeed a difficult book. But then sometime around a dozen or more years ago, I had an epiphany. Perhaps it was connected with my own, personal struggles that I was enduring at the time, but for the first time, I found that not only did I now have an understanding of Ecclesiastes, but I actually discovered that it was indeed a book of deeply profound truth and hope. I found that the key to truly understanding Ecclesiastes was to read and understand that other ancient book of scripture, Job. For the two books are actually two sides of a single coin! Job being about a man who had everything that any man could ever want. A man in great health who was a pillar of his community. He was married to a wonderful woman, with a large, loving family, many great friends and wealth beyond imagination! And all of it was taken from him in a moment of time. But rather than cursing God in anger, Job kept his faith in God. Conversely, Solomon is blessed by God with wisdom greater than any other man, unimaginable wealth, peace with his enemies, many wives...essentially, Job has _everything_ that _every man_ believes is all they need to be happy, and yet, he concludes that _all of it is MEANINGLESS!_ All of his great works of science, government, building... NONE of it brings him true joy and satisfaction...in fact, he witnesses that the ordinary people who work as simple laborers for him appear to glean more joy and satisfaction from their simple lives than he is able to with all of his greatness. What does he conclude? That NOTHING that we think or do has any meaning nor will it bring us any true satisfaction without God. For God is _the only_ source of meaning and satisfaction! So in the end...Job who has everything taken from him, and Solomon who has everything given to him both arrive at the same conclusion. Only by God! It is deeply profound! So, getting back to Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. I recognize the obvious similarities between that album and the Book of Ecclesiastes, and I am convinced that they drew some inspiration from it in writing the songs. Some of it is blatant. For example... _"And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking_ _Racing around to come up behind you again"_ (From the song "TIME") _"The sun rises, and the sun goes down,_ _and hastens to the place where it rises."_ (Ecclesiastes 1:5) Dark Side Of The Moon explores the same things that Solomon does in Ecclesiastes. Trying to make sense of the seemingly meaningless years that we spend, toiling away on this blue marble on which we all live. Each song on the album examines a different facet of living. It begins with the heartbeat, and birth, in which we all take our first breath which is the first song, BREATHE. It then goes on to explore the many struggles and experiences which we all endure... PURSUIT, TIME, RELIGION, MONEY, LOVE AND HATE, and ultimately, DEATH. Sadly, although Pink Floyd were able to recognize the futility of the myriad of empty pursuits we all engage in throughout our lives, unlike Solomon, they never find the answer, and so they conclude their album with death...nothing more. Whereas conversely, Solomon realizes that God *_IS_* the point, and thus, the meaning of it all! We are all faced with these two possible lives. One is empty, and thus ends with emptiness, and the other is full of God and His love, and ends with the beginning of our life, forever ahead and abundant with meaning and satisfaction. As both Job and Solomon did, choose life in Christ!

Hey Mike, I watched your message from July 29th on THE ANOINTING and I'd like to share a couple of things with you... First, a correction... At approximately 4 minutes and 11 seconds into your message, you stated that the Old Testament (Hebrew) word for "anointing" is *"aleipho".* However "aleipho" is *_not_** from the Old Testament* as it is not a Hebrew word, but rather, *it is a **_Greek_** word* meaning _"to anoint",_ and is found in the New Testament. *Reference STRONG'S G218.* Also, in Ruth 3:3 it says, "Wash therefore and anoint yourself..." the Hebrew word used for anoint here is *"sûḵ".* And again in 2 Samuel 12:20 it says, "Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself..." and the Hebrew word used for anointed is "sûḵ". *"chriō"* - STRONG'S G5548 ( Pronunciation khree'-o ) The Greek, New Testament word for "to anoint" *"egchriō"* - STRONG'S G1472 ( Pronunciation: eng-khree'-o ) ...means to rub in, besmirch, anoint; to anoint one's self. The other thing that I want to share with you is an excellent, free Bible study tool that I believe you'll find very useful. It is available as a free phone app as well as on the web. It is called *BLUE LETTER BIBLE.* You can find it in the app store and at *www.blb.org* It is jam packed with such tools as... • Many translations of the Bible • STRONG'S • Bible Dictionaries Also, it includes a tool which allows you to hear the correct pronunciation of Greek and Hebrew words! God bless, Mike!

Glad you brought up the "styles" of some of these preachers, using emotionalism. Another facet of that is when they slam the congregation with the "good old boy talk" or the over-excitable, foot-stomping, arm-waving loud shouting antics to try to get the crowd stirred up to agree with them (if you're quiet and not yelling with him, are you not seeing it?), without taking the time to think about and examine (especially scripturally) what he is saying. The other one I really can't stand is the preacher talk where they add a big "UHHH" to the end of the last word in a phrase or sentence. "And God saiduhhh, "do not do this againuhhhh"! It sounds so STUPID! I have often thought I'd love to come up to a preacher and ask them, "Do you talk to ppl like this at the dinner table? Then why at church?" Anyway, thanks for the clarification on the anointing and all your points - well taken. Loved John Garlock!

Good word Mike. A heads up for you... You can use Google like you use Strong's. For instance, if you recall part of a passage, but you cannot remember it all, simply open Google, then type the word "Bible" followed by what you recall. For instance... Bible if you love me, you will Then Google will give you the results... John 14:15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. Jesus said to his disciples: If you...

It just occurred to me as I was listening to your account of how Elijah ran in fear for his life from that wicked Jezebel that I'll bet the spirit of FEAR entered the battle against Elijah. Probably other spirits also filled his mind with fearful thoughts and wrong thoughts about his situation. I had typed a whole response to this earlier and the computer went grey, locked up and i lost it all, just before I was about to post this response, so I'm going to persevere and slam the devil with what I had previously typed - he obviously doesn't want this to get out. I had also experienced this spirit of fear hit me hard when I began to practice my gift of praying in tongues when I was alone in the house I rented with an old high school buddy in Manchester, CT, prior to meeting Janice and eventually coming to Living Waters there in Windsor Locks. The pastor from the church I went to (after moving to Hartford from Manchester) told me I needed to take authority over that spirit of fear because the devil definitely does NOT want us to have this very powerful weapon for our spiritual warfare and prayer time. I did soon defeat the spirit of fear and grew in my gift of tongues. It later came upon me one Saturday morning, as I was waking up, when I was going to go out for the first time with that church in Hartford to Stowe Village and share the gospel with residents there. I had a very dramatic experience this time, followed up with a vision and revelation immediately from the Holy Spirit. POWERFUL!!! I also just realized just a few months ago that the three spirits that were screaming at the top of their lungs when the gospel was first shared with me while I was in the Navy (we were out at sea and topside when this happened) and these three demons were tying their best to drown out the gospel being shared with me from this other shipmate. They were the spirits of fear, depression and suicide - and they had almost succeeded in having me end my life just a short time prior in a number of different times while on guard duty during the midnight - 4am watch. They LOST and I was delivered out of the filthy hands of the devil and darkness and into the loving hands of my Redeemer and Savior, Jesus Christ, and into the kingdom of LIGHT!

Some other kinds of flaming arrows I've experienced are calamities, accidents of various kinds and even a prevailing forgetfulness that resulted in numerous little disasters/accidents that were not only embarrassing but costly. Also, attacks from other people at work in a very fierce way when I first changed my lifestyle as a new believer. Physical attacks on our bodies is another one.

_"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."_ - *1 Corinthians 13:4-7*

Michael, awesome timely word. Been meditating and praying over the word Timmothy Sherman gave me in 99. I believe, each day God is preparing me for the miraculous! I would love to do lunch together some day, to ponder this word. Last thought, In the movie scrooged, Ebenezer enters the home of his nephew and wife and repents of the way he acted to them and says to them I'm here for dinner if you would have me. That is what I speak to the Lord everyday because I know hes going to do this. Love you!!!!
