Thanks for this video, I'm starting this fall as a transfer, and I'm starting to feel nervous lol
dont be nervous! it will be a lot of fun. Most of the things I talked about in the video are mistakes that I made in my first couple years and I'm doing just fine
W GYAT video 🔥
good luck to everyone animation school bound!! 😁 (u will need it)

What school did you go to?
i go to an animation and sometimes i get stressed out! its just 3:03
omg i love this
Im a senior 3D artist. If i can avoid unwrapping i do, its easy, but its just so tedius.
As someone who SOMEHOW just got a Maya certification, I can confirm I hate anything to do with UVs. :P
i try to use procedural textures whenever i can
I'm an absolute heathen who actually enjoys UV unwrapping.
i wish that was me U_U i usually use the auto UVs lol
what software is that
Maya 😅
ewww UVS!!!!1 🤮🤮🤮

May God's will for you be done. I hope you succeed in your endeavors. God loves you all. Amen.❤❤❤
that's nice and informative it feel like it set an expectation on what would get on a 3d (or 2d) animation course
The shit you make better be a banger
Overwatch (p)orn artists actually revolutionized some 3d art software and made big breakthroughs
Damn
You know something that also big 😏

0:27 Damn, that's even more sophisticated than my static car render driving across flatly shaded roads in 3Ds Max! Having said that though, it being so simple, did save me some embarrassment and I got to keep my dignity... No funny stretching to be seen cause all that visibly moved was the background for most of the video, in essence... 5:23 I did that but still... well, I guess I'm skipping a couple steps and trying to do complex things rather than focusing as much as I should be on the not-so-complex boring things... But sure, I made a doughnut, plural... only 2 or 3 ngl. I also made a Steve model and a lot of other small things... with some gaps between periods where I was and wasn't motivated to do anything 3D... cause what I could do, I didn't want to do at those times I wasn't "motivated".
Your hot glue gun is better than everything Ive made over 2 years (Blender with a sh1tty pc).
Your not the only one
i have no interest in 3D modelling but i like your voice magic cat man
5:03 you should also recommend beefy pcs because if youre just gonna be using a potato then the renders gonna take a LOT of time and instead of the normals and aos being baked, the potatos the one thats gonna be baked
thank you for sharing this with us :D
thank you for watching !!!

Im currently persuing engineering(freshman), but do art (hardsurface, texturing, UV, etc) on the side as a hobby, and as I've been working and learning new stuff I've kind of realised that you don't really need art school. Everything that it teaches in the first two years I've learned by myself over time for the great price of zero dollars, and I've learned Maya using a school license from my community college, switched to blender about a month ago (which is better don't at me), and learned substance painter to boot. If you have a passion for it, art school is absolutely not required to LEARN the art. However, the connections are nearly invaluable and essential to building any art career.

why do you sound like a nonchalant/ disinterested robot?
Welp. School is really stressing. Just keep walking and improve will do everything. Trust the process! Meanwhile myself got YEETED out from medical school and still learning to become better 3D artist right now.
Your art looks bad. I guess you learned 3d animation?
I actually surprisingly got accepted into an animation program. but, was recommended to do one year of graphic design instead of film and after efforts and just wait till next year to do animation.
This video is great. I went to Full Sail University and wanted to specialize in animation. It was awful. I do not recommend the school. I learned after I grauated that they are more for profit than for students. Maybe this is just because they didnt cater to animation much and because I went into the game art program and not the computer animation one, but they were not great. I guess this is me venting but also I hope it can serve as a warning to others about this school. I should have talked to some of the students beforehand somehow.
It’s like that dog from Undertale 😭
