NIGHTMARE
Hey guys!
I made a promise to post once a week. However, this video is about 2 weeks late I believe. Forgive me! I just bought my very first camera and while I had the project completed within the timeframe, I had nothing to edit on. As you see, we're good to go.
Thanks for watching!

Переглядів 42 тис.7 років тому
A journey of what it's like POST boot camp here in North Chicago's Naval Station Great Lakes. I tour the whole perimeter from the inside or you can SKIP TO THE END TO SEE THE ROOM TOUR! APOLOGIES for the camera and for the shakiness. I've purchased a new camera since and if you get a chance and happen to come across my channel. Let me know what you think of the videos! 🙏🏼👍🏼 Subscribe to my chan...

    I only been in that Galley once. And that was 9/11/01 for lunch because they kicked all of the civilians off base and all that was left was the military personnel cause everything was closed. Very strange not seeing the very old Green Glass Gun School in front of the galley. So much has changed. The only real thing I noticed that was still there was the track, galley, and the navy fed.

    I went to corps school when it was still there and our runs took us all over naval station great lakes. I remember a huge hill by where you were at the lake we used to sprint up. Brutal pt for navy standards. And it was every day, red flag, black flag, our instructors DID NOT CARE lol

    You didn’t go to the old Corpsman Side to give us all PTSD 😅 I was roomed up in the ghetto ass 129 barracks. Our fun was Parcheezi’s/aka Sleezy Cheezys. Loved the awesome friends and memories we made. Still talk over a decade later. I completely forgot about Samuel Adams Brewery. 🍻

    '04 alumni out of corps school. Id give just about anything to own one of those bad ass homes next to the old theater. Brought back a lot of old memories, and glad to see Navy kept renovating the place. Oh yeah, that beach didn't have sand while I was there, only a bunch of dark pebbles.

    Major nostalgia bro. Thank you so much for the video. As shitty as it was at the time I truly miss it. I’m a Seabee now. 3rd class Petty Officer. I definitely plan on taking a trip back to TSC with my girl and my daughter to re live the memories when I was there for A-School as a perspective ET. I was huge into skateboarding and me and my buddies would always go to Chicago and skate.

    This was very interesting I had passed all my tests with the Navy recruiters and everything and was planning on going in and then I wound up having a woman on the cell phone wind up rear-ending my car at a red light and wound up fracturing my spine and that pretty much put an end to that dream. but if I'd gone in like I wanted to living in Ohio great lakes training center is where I would have gone it's all really sorry that I wound up not being able to do that was very disappointed and I truly enjoyed the video.

    Sorry to say that the only part of the base that I recognized in your entire footage was the tower. A hell of a lot has changed since 1988, especially the complete absence of the "Green House" gun school, demolished several years ago. :(

    • @michaelb.8953
      @michaelb.8953 4 роки тому

      I was there in 89-90 and sad to hear that they demolished my old gunners mate school. Like you the only bldg. I recognized was the tower. Seems like they have it a lot cushier now as we didn't have our own head in our room along with a kitchenette, and everything else you would need at your fingertips. That mess hall blew me away with the choices that they had, I'm jealous as I wish I was now young enough to go back in.

    • @Gunners_Mate_Guns

      @@michaelb.8953 Testify When I found about the loss of the "Green House," I was surprised by how sad that made me. I went there from February-November, finishing the MK42 school before moving on to the fleet. Time marches on, right? It's good to hear from another Gunner's Mate who was there very close to the same time that I was.

      I passed GM phase 1 but rocked out of BEE. The GM school was a work of art, it should have been saved.

    • @Gunners_Mate_Guns
      @Gunners_Mate_Guns 4 роки тому

      @@tstahler5420 Interesting to hear from someone who went through later than I did. Clearly, GM school had finally incorporated the BEE course by the time you were there. Sorry to hear that you rocked out, too. FWIW, when I was there, the BEE course was a standalone course that we all had to pass before moving on to the GM school itself, and believe me, I knew dozens of guys who rocked out of BEE. I never knew or even heard of anyone who rocked out of GM 'A' school itself, but honestly I have no idea how anyone who had passed the minimum standards of the ASVAB before enlisting couldn't pass it, LOL. However, we had one guy in our class of the MK42 'C' school who actually rocked out on his final exam, which I found so embarrassing for him. He was a heavy drinker who really didn't put any effort into school, though. MK42 school was definitely tougher than the 'A' school, but anyone rocking out of it after having made it through the other two schools first *really* had to drop the ball. Glad to hear from another guy who went to the same place, even though you didn't quite make it through. I wish I could do it all over again.
