Winter Solitude in the Cairngorms | Glen Feshie Wild Camp
Join me as I venture deep into the remote Cairngorms National Park for an overnight wild camp in the upper reaches of Glen Feshie.
Glen Feshie harbours one of the last remain remnants of Scotland's ancient Caledonian forest and it was a privilege to spend the night in this hidden gem.

Hiking the Liathach Traverse in Torridon
Переглядів 8483 місяці тому
► ABOUT THIS HIKE In late August 2024, I hiked the Liathach Traverse in the West Coast of Scotland, starting from Glen Torridon, laying a short-distance from the settlement Torridon. My ascent of Liathach began by hiking my up through Toll a’ Meitheach, eventually reaching the bealach where I was treated to one of the finest views in Scotland where Beinn Eighe, Beinn Alligan and Beinn Dearg whe...
Awesome talent in videography and skills scrambling those dangerious parts. Stay safe young man 🙏
Outstanding video, its heart warming for such a young man note the difference of a depleted wet desert to a living echo system. You videography was awesome, even that feshie hot spot for campers, you captured the area like no one else. The entire presentation was excellent and you have talent and lots going for you. Didnt sub as im leaving utube but assuredly i would have done.
@@George-gg1ny Thank you for the kind words although there any many better than myself! My only aim is to showcase off our fine landscape! All the best 🤝
Storm bert 🤣🤣 its winter in Scotland !!!!!
@@richardmacdonald8637 Very true, although it was Storm Bert that dumped that snow on the tops 🤷♂️
Many thanks my man! I appreciate the support! Atb
Just popped up on my feed. Liked & subbed. 🏴😎 Regards frae Glasgow 🙋
Such a beautiful area.
@@Jennifer.4 Next time I’m in the area I’ll show the lower glen which is equally stunning!
It's not good to have too much blood in your alcohol stream. It can cause dizziness.
@@thewatchman6074 haha yes fair point!
That was really well made , well done. Subbed.
@@OldStag72 Thank you, I appreciate the support!
Absolutely superb! Gorgeous footage and really, really well put together.
@@Weeblesroadtrip Thank you Mum! Any tips for frozen boots?
Really charming to see someone who's learning! Lovely video~
I’m always learning!
First video watching but won’t be the last, love going walks in the cairngorms glad you enjoyed it! New sub also mate 🇬🇧
@@Ryan-m3b Good man, welcome to UA-cam!
Just a great video, and very well filmed. Glad you’re trip went well, happy trails.
Many thanks Michael, hopefully can continue to film more trips!
Nice one, good filming too .. and congratulations on the trip. Amazing scenery. I do it sometimes too, but at the other side of the world. I like the nature, especially the bushcraft experience ;) Keep it up
@@MrDonkov Thank you for the words! Just trying to make better films each time! Bushcraft is definitely something I want to explore more in the future. Many thanks!
Living the dream
@@ChyngtonDon very fortunate to be able to get out! Many thanks
Looks amazing ill defos need to check out Glen Feshie
@@JMACCSArmiesOfMiddleEarth Yes, lucky to have it here in Scotland!
What stunning footage, breathtaking drone footage. Awesome video, really enjoyed.
@@Roam.Outdoors Thank you! First time taking the drone out, need work on the settings and maybe pick up some ND filters! Adds a nice element though especially in the mountains!
New subb here 🇬🇧👋. Magnificent place to see. Do remember Scott's wildcamper and pals camping there way back. Soon as i saw your vids thumbnail it was a clicker on'a. 😮😊🇬🇧👋🫡
@@fraserconnell21 I appreciate the support Fraser, thank you! I’m fairness I am the same. Something about camping videos that chill me out!
What an absolutely beautiful place! Keep em coming!
First time in the area, won’t be the last!
Great video bro, I swear youre right next to my pitch in my last video 😅😅
@@BarlowsOnTour Thanks my man, you must have pitched a little upstream but yeah same pocket of forest! Atb
Great camp mate! We’d love to do a woodland video like this, looks amazing🙌🏻 new sub from us👍🏻
@@Roam.Outdoors I appreciate your support! The winter months call for more woodland camps vs the mountains!
Buen campamento 👍
Many thanks!
I have that tent and i have used it in severe winds , sideways rain and snow in the Cairngorms , never let me down . To be honest id be happy pitching it in that wind and didnt think your location was poor . Just looked like the guy lines coud do with a tighten . 😃
@@garythomson5039 I’d agree Gary, great tent although because the fly sheet sits higher off the ground being a 3-season tent, it’d vulnerable to the cold winter winds!
Well done mate .subbed
@@Bonnyladdadventures Thanks mate, I appreciate the support 🤝
Lovely video 🥰 Stick stones or heavy logs on top of your pegs in soft ground. Your face at 'firstthoughts' of the Chia Seed thing cracked me up.
I actually liked the taste but in my mind I was thinking a porridge consistency!
Nice chilled camp guys 👍😎
@@DazzOutdoors-UK1 Thanks Dazz, it was great to get out for the first time with my older brother. Learned a few tips off of him as well. Atb 🤝
Add a tent lamp. It makes such a difference to giving you the right level of light during long dark nights
@@janepaterson-todd693 Thanks Jane, are there any brands or models you have had any joy with?
Love it ! Scotland is definitely on our list of places to go ! FYI the clicking noise at the beginning of the video is likely the zip bouncing near the mic 😅 had this issue many times 😅
Yeah I noticed that myself when watching back! Thanks for tuning in!
Great video mate 😍 looking forward to see more of your adventures 🫂
@@Where_Next_Adventure Thanks for tuning in, looking forward to catching some of your videos as well 🤝
I really enjoyed this video. I liked your honesty and it wasn't a fiasco. I rarely have a camp that goes to plan and as of late - I've been setting up in the dark as well. Keep the vids coming
@@OurScapes Thank you for tuning in, sorry for half the video being in the dark! Working on that for the next video!
Great video mate. You did much better than me on my first wild camp😂😂 All the best for the future 🤝
@@ScottishSummiteer I appreciate that coming from yourself mate! Inspiring me to hit up some bothy’s over the winter! Looking forward to your new vid tonight 🤝
Good vlog there great choice off tent also nice place for your first wildcamp new sub👍
@@Bigaloutdoors Thanks my man 🤝 I see you make some videos yourself, I’ll check them out when I’m back up the road, thanks for the sub, atb.
Good man. You will fall in love with it. Buying gear is a drug 🤣🤣 great upload. New sub from me. Greetings from Ireland ☘️☘️🤙
@@soletrail I’ve found that out already! End of season sales are a killer. Appreciate the sub 🤝
Just done my first wild camp a month ago, loved it. Great video mate. Just subscribed from a fellow UA-camr 😉👍
@@PhilDodsworthOutandAbout Thanks mate, out and about right now but I’ll check your channel out when I can. What’s are harder than learning to wild camp is capturing it on camera 😅
Thanks mate, many more to come
Good video. I do like the MSR range of tents but it looked a bit strained in the wind, maybe invest in a 4 season tent for upcoming camps. Subscribed 👍🏻
@@craigy1872 Thanks Craig, definitely not up to Scottish winter so I’ll look at the Access 1!
@@keirenoutdoors would be good to see you out in the Access 1. Have seen a few other campers using it with mixed feelings on it.
@@craigy1872 I think that would be tent of choice over the winter, others are available of course! Thanks for tuning in, atb 🤝
Nice one buddy.. the first one is always the test of kit and will .. invest in a better light thats half the battle is being able to see.. next one will be better I guarantee it..
@@davidpeebles197 That’s one of the items I’ve written down, some sort of camp light! Appreciate you watching!
Great Video bud! saw this on Reddit :)
@@MattyRv93 Thanks for watching mate, yeah increasingly spending more time on Reddit, good place for info!
Brilliant video. Brilliant! We all start somewhere and you chose the right place in case you needed an early / emergency exit. Toms Cairn is also a good one (flat, sheltered from prevailing). Look forward to the next one son!
PS I think I might have my dehydrator somewhere if you want to start making and dehydrating your own food for a fraction of the price.
@@Weeblesroadtrip Thanks! I’ll get the basics down first haha
Fantastic looking place my friend! This looks really nice
Thank you for your continued support mate!
Great first video. Looking forward to seeing more 👍

Very nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍7
Thank you, all the best 🤝
Great video. Good effort on the pinnacles too. I'll have to go back when I'm feeling braver!
@@ScotHiking I’ll admit, every UA-cam video I’ve watched makes them seem more exposed than they are (including mine), definitely needs care but on a dry day, it’s was fairly straight forward and exposure wasn’t bad. Thank you for watching the video!
Fantastic! Beautifully shot ❤
🙌🏻
A mountain I've dreamed of for decades, thank you so much for this detailed view of the whole experience. 3:10 was terrifying though lol
Thank you! There were some close moments for sure!
Superb video. Excellent clips, just the right music. Well captured.
Thanks Charles, the goal is to showcase the best of the mountain, hopefully I did that!
I would say so. Excellent.
@@charlesrobert9527I appreciate the feedback! Many more trips to come!
Thanks for posting this excellent video of my favourite Scottish mountain. Climbed it in 1996, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2008. This video only makes me want to climb it all over again.
