    Hey Tom... Nicely controlled rebound 💪. For me, I just got done competing and gained 20 pounds in a month, now my body is not responding to the deficit. What should I do now? How can i get my body to respond and drop the extra weight? Should I take it and try maintain the weight and keep going with the bulk or do PSMF?

    • @coachtcoleman
      @coachtcoleman Місяць тому

      @@random-dirani-vids in this scenario bro I wouldn’t stress your body after a prep by dropping back into a deficit personally. When you’ve just gone from something so Mentally and physically challenging you just ain’t in the best of states to drop back down into a diet. The best thing is to manage food intake and food quality. Maintain. With where you’re at. Regulate everything in terms of hunger, appetite and water retention then start to push up from there. It might mean a growth phase is cut short but it’s all a learning curve. Just get control of food intake from now. Follow a similar approach to prep just with more food and high calories and slowly start to gain from here then pull back down the line when your body becomes unresponsive, appetite and body composition isn’t where it needs to be to grow

    • @random-dirani-vids

      @@coachtcoleman thank you for the response Tom! I appreciate it a lot. I just heard nightmares of competitors struggling to make their weight year after year so i was worried i might put on more fat which means my deficit has to be bigger now. My appetite and cravings are through the roof... i still do enjoy healthy food habits, but i am no longer saying no to my girlfriend or my mom's dinner and desserts, and my girlfriend took away my food scale (she used to be a bikini coach) Is it true that rapid gain means harder prep year after year? Why is that? Is it because competitors don't give themselves enough space between shows? This is my first prep so I'm pretty new.

    • @coachtcoleman
      @coachtcoleman Місяць тому

      @@random-dirani-vids that’s it mate if you do decide to prep in a position body fat wise where you’re not in a good spot then the next prep will definitely be just as difficult. But that’s why it’s a case of slowing down the rate of gain but understanding over restriction now will just lead you down the path of overeating and gaining more weight faster. The way I handled it is this. Allow more flexibility but keep meals voluminous (more veggies, higher volume foods, fruits as snacks between meals, increas total protein intake which went from 200 on prep to 280 post show and making sure I get 5 meals in per day) You won’t be in a bad spot to prep again as long as you have a mini cut in between and a slower push up where appetite will naturally not be as high and your ability to control food intake will be better. This is coming from someone who completely fucked post show last year and then still prepped the year after. Priority right now is regulating hunger but not eating like a total monster out of control.

    • @coachtcoleman
      @coachtcoleman Місяць тому

      Rapid weight gain just leads to a shorter off season typically not necessarily a harder prep last year unless you do zero mini cut/pre prep diet before you next prep. I hope this helps mate. It’s just important to manage food intake during this time where you can. I personally wouldn’t not weigh your food because if you want to keep things as controlled as you can it’s important mentally to know how much is going in so you can stop Yourself eating more for the sake of eating more because the reality is you will not know when you’re full and there isn’t any signal from the brain telling you to stop

      @@mohamadsorya6718 mate honestly I’m already post show and I never have any issue gaining weight because where I was at in terms of stage condition isn’t healthy and it’s important to make sure food is back in because at the end of the day food is fuel. However post show is very different in a sense because your body is very responsive and essentially acts as a sponge. So it’s about making sure that you remove the restriction and introduce more flexibility but still control intake which is all I’ve focused on minus the day of my show. Every other day has been tracked and with hunger being higher naturally calories were higher the first few days and I mentally allowed them to be. But everything has been made at home just like prep and fully tracked through MyFitnessPal so it’s not just a bunch of uncontrolled calories going in

    • @coachtcoleman
      @coachtcoleman 2 місяці тому

      @@mohamadsorya6718 you should never be afraid to eat though mate. You just need to know how to control your intake and remember food is fuel. So if you are someone who is looking to build muscle you can’t be scared of food because to grow you need to eat. To perform at your best you need to eat and if you’re scared to introduce more food again. Set yourself some macro targets and track your food and see how your body responds in terms of weight gain and performance in the gym.

    great vlog and inspirational journey mate. i have got a question maybe you can help me out. i finished a fat loss phase recently using carb cycling (80gms for 5 days and 100gms for 2) at 51.7 kgs... now i made all days equal in carbs (100gms) and my weight gone up a whole ass kg 52.7. i want to reverse diet but i feel like i'm fucking it up, do you have any tips? i want to reverse diet to my maintenance but if my weight keeps going up with every 20gms increase in carbs, how can i figure out my maintenance? thank you Tom

    • @coachtcoleman
      @coachtcoleman 3 місяці тому

      @@mohamadsorya6718 firsy thank you mate. Next thing with your question. In all honesty mate you’re over complicating it so much. If you’ve been in a fat loss phase for a period of time and dropped a significant amount of weight. Expect the initial increase to be higher due to an increase in carbohydrates. 100g of carbs is not a lot of carbs whatsoever so a kilo increase just shows your body is responsive. Your goal is to reverse right? In that case you want your weight to go up. If you’re 52kg don’t worry about your weight increasing a little faster initially. Set yourself up for success by fuelling your training performance with food, Focus on training progressions and getting strong as. Weight increases will slow down as time goes on but without seeing your 52kg isn’t a weight I would be worried about reversing, I’d be focused on eating and training hard. Have training day food and then rest day food. Training day food sitting higher to accommodate for a pre and a post workout meal. Rest day food to sit a little lower due to not using as much energy

    • @coachtcoleman
      @coachtcoleman 3 місяці тому

      I did reply to this not sure why it hasn’t popped up. In short. Thank you mate! In regards to the question. Don’t overthink this. Without sounding rude if you’re 52kg you need to focus on growing. Eating food and progressing in the gym. Not a reverse diet I would put the calories up and start to eat. Even if the rate of gain is a little faster to begin with. That’s okay. Eventually it will slow down and that’s when you can slowly increase food over time but initially I’d get the food up and prioritise training performance to grow. Protein 1.6-2.2g per kg of bodyweight. Fats 0.5-0.7g per kg of bodyweight (to start) the rest of baseline calories to come from carbs with a huge emphasis on carbs around the training window to help use them better for training performance. Without truly knowing your situation and background that’s as much advice as I can give mate! Hopefully that helps!

    The #1 BEST tool for calorie counting and getting consistent is a food scale. I love mine. Also, for me at work (I program so I'm at a desk mostly) I stagger lots of small snacks. A cheese stick, hour and a half later, a thing of yogurt, an hour later lunch, hour later beef jerkey, hour later seltzer water, etc. It keeps me distracted and always close to eating something. Also substitute where you can, but don't compromise if you really dislike it. Going from 2% milk to skim milk saves me 80 calories per protein shake for almost no real consequence. But i hate artificial sweeteners so I avoid them even if it would make things faster. Lastly... When I'm really serious, i dont drink alcohol. 150 calories of food with nutrition and protein goes so much further than a beer. Its so simple, but hard at the start. After a week or two you wonder why you wanted those 2 drinks a night though
