Who knew Mike could sing! Just awesome these two, thanks for carrying the torch.
Making me cry. Love you guys. Miss Tom Petty.

Mike you sound alot like Tom when you aing. I miss you guys❤ still Heartbreakers
Must have been very hard to hold it together . Hats off for a very soulful performance . Great tribute to your body of work . I got choked up .
Beautiful 🎂❤️🩹
I can't believe how much Tom Petty's death still affects me. He was one of my very favorite artists. His music was a huge part of my youth.😢
Had tears in my eyes all the way through
I love these guys and their music and devotion to each other they are truely freinds real like their music Tom was a blessed man to have friends like these guys in his life.❤
Incredibile performance ❤️
Great to see these two celebrating Tom's birthday on a personal level and still willing to share it with the rest of us. I've got some songs for you to learn boys - whenever you're ready.
Love this. Great version.
Mike sounds a lot like Tom
Benmont sings like Warren Zevon. I really like this!
pure love and loveliness, gentlemen. thank you.
May Tom's soul be in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!!❤️❤️❤️
You guys have still got it. All of it. Great stuff xx
Thank you Mike and Benmont!!! Thank you really from Russia!!! We loves Tom!!!
0:47 "American Girl" (lead vocal Benmont) 3:44 "Something Good Coming" (lead vocal Mike) 9:37 "We What Boogie Bout Midnight" (lead vocal Mike) There's the occasional sound of strings or string synthesizer (see 2:43 and 6:06, for example). It may be someone off camera. It may be overdubbed. I'd be interested to know.
Amazing performance.......THANK YOU😍
Yes,YES,and wow and wow oh yes.
Amazing 🤩
Вravo!!!!
Thanks a lot!!!
The Heartbreakers are too good of a band not to tour. Do a Tom Petty Tribute Tour with Eddie Vedder as lead singer. After all was that what Tom was doing when he had Eddie step on stage and sing some Heartbreaker songs? It would be an EPIC Tour. You only live once!!!
Get a promoter!
Dylan & The HeartBreakers 🤔
Gotta little piece of that @ FarmAid last year 😎✊🏽✌🏽
Nah man, don't replace him. You like the music, listen to Dirty Knobs.
👍 ❤️ 😢, amen to that bro 🎸
Didnt he totally sell out his orig band members?
Nah He just hope that you could have bought the iguanas 🦎
No, though perhaps he didn't describe what happened as straightforwardly as he could have. The label dropped the band (Mudcutch), but retained him as a solo artist. He had no power to prevent as much from happening. Ultimately, he was able to prevail upon producer Denny Cordell to let him use the Heartbreakers as supporting musicians; but the contract was still in Petty's name as a solo artist. So the truth is actually the opposite: Randall Marsh and Danny Roberts did get left behind (Tom Leadon was long out of the group by this point), but he was able to claw Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench back into the band. Cordell would never have let Marsh or Roberts serve as Petty's backing musicians. Petty got him to agree to Tench only after first trying Al Kooper (and Benmont was a wiz, as was Mike). There is no way Cordell was going to let Roberts and Marsh play bass and drums over anyone.
He got a better band. It's the music "business" & you need to be businesslike. You get the best staff you can & let go those who don't work to your standards.
Then, in 2008,he called some of the old band members ( Marsh and Leadon) and reformed Mudcrutch and did two tours and two albums. His first ever record release was with Mudcrutch, and,so was his last.
👍😁
This is beautiful, thanks.
The older I get, the more I think The Heartbreakers was the best "garage band" ever. I keep coming back to those live recordings... Thanks man. You guys have walked a lot of us through some deep times.
Lord I love Mike and Benmont, and miss Tom so much. So thankful the music is eternal! Long live Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers!
This was special. Took a while to see.
Did Mike Campbell just absorb Tom Petty when he passed?
When people spend a lot of time together for a extended period of time, they start acquiring each other's mannerisms. Mike spent over 40 years playing behind Tom and touring with him. There probably is a lot of Tom living on through him.
Play the piano - great touch Mike xx. What a wonderful tribute from 2 beautiful musical souls to another. Love you and Bless you both
Brilliant guys, esp American Girl. I’m an English Girl around your age, a musician. Mike you are great, but Benmont I LOVE YOU, really & truly xx ❤ Jenn
Always thought Mike sounded a lot like Tom when singing..
Thank you. That was so special.
You are amazing musicians
The feeling of loss is so palpable... These two friends showed their love and grief through their beautiful renditions of two of Tom's great songs. The hug from Mike to Ben was so touching. I'm moved to tears most times I watch this. Thank God we have UA-cam... It somehow keeps Tom alive in our hearts and minds.
Looking at Benmont's hands playing the piano is beautiful to me. Just thinking about the thousands of times he played while Tom sang brings a tear to my eyes. Oh, if only to be able to relive all those times. Thanks to Ben, Mike and the other Heartbreakers. I'm sure they, like us, dearly miss our Tom Petty.
"This is the first time I've played it in this key" touched me because he's only ever played it for Tom to sing.
Bravo Oshawa Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Thanxs so much
Did Belmont die? Last time I saw him he looked like all the rockers that abandoned there family. So lame.
You reek of dumbass Trumper, right down to "Belmont" and "there" family. Are your feelings hurt because Benmont is a lib?
@@Don-md6wn what a horrific comment. You’ll never try to understand Trumps appeal and how the fears of his voters are being realized right now under Biden. Go wear your mask.
@@sammmy4495 Every comment in this thread is idiotic. The OP's certainly, stupid as shit. The reply makes a silly assumption, whomever politicians the OP may support could not be more irrelevant. And then of course the third comment, just as irrelevant and idiotic as the OP. Good work, folks.
Missing Tom!
Just found this…Tom sure had an eye for recognizing talent and for good people ❤to be good friends with for a lifetime! You guys rock. Respect.
Wow, I’ve never heard Mike or Benmont’s vocals isolated like this. They both sound a bit like Tom P, and that shouldnt surprise me
They're from the same neighborhood.
Lovely Birthday Tribute… Thanks Benmont & Mike… and of course… Tom Petty 🪷💐🪷
Damn that telecaster sounds good in Mike C's hands.
Tom Petty = true American hero.
