Oviedo, Asturias, and Leon. A Road Trip through Northern Spain. I traveled by car with 4 of my closest friends from Paris. We started the journey in San Sebastián then onto the region of Asturias, then León, and we stopped by a couple national parks along the way to camp and appreciate all the beauty nature has to offer us. I also included a brief update about the direction of this channel at t...

A Paris vlog during the summer of 2020. A brief peak into what it's like to live in Paris over the summer. I lived in Paris for four years and this comprises many of my favorites spots as well as memories over this remarkable summer when Paris was void of tourists.
SAN SEBASTIÁN - DONOSTIA
Переглядів 4413 роки тому
Filmed in the summer of 2020. In this vid, I head to San Sebastián where I make plenty of new friends and travel companions. I start this segment meeting a group of 12 dudes on a hike into some caves a short drive away from the city. I then hit the beach Zurriola, have an amazing meal at a basque cider house, do some rock climbing, and the food I dream of. *During my travels I followed the safe...

Filmed in the summer of 2020. In this vid, I head to Madrid and Segovia in Spain to tour and eat far too often. I travel with my friend Marwan to meet up with our friend Alex, who is a local of Madrid. Later we meet up with other locals and I eventually travel to Segovia with Alex's dad. *During my travels I followed all the safety procedures and I stayed with friends or at Airbnb's rather than...

Filmed in the summer of 2020. I head to Berlin, Germany to tour and eat my way through the city with my friend Gabriel. We do as much adventuring as two young men, new to a city, can. We eat, we drink, and we lime way more than I care to admit. This primarily takes place in Berlin, with small parts in the end of Manheim and Paris. *During my travels I followed all the safety procedures and I st...

TOLOSA. The Old Capital of GIPUZKOA - Basque Country
Переглядів 3,8 тис.3 роки тому
On this part of my, now somewhat extensive, Basque country travel series, we visited the glorious city of TOLOSA! Deep in the heart of the Basque region of Gipuzcoa this old town has a rich history. It used to be the capital of this region (Gipuzkoa), of which San Sebastián is now the capital of. Follow us on our day trip through this gem of a place and I hope you enjoy!

Opening with San Sebastián and journeying through the beautiful Basque town of ZUMAIA. Beautiful shots of the coastline where we visit a beach used as a setting in GAME of THRONES and the church SAN TELMO, which was a prime location in the film "Spanish Affair", or in Spanish, "Ochos Apellidos Vascos". Americans are so tickled about "Pavement", Americans are (AWARE) of the word pavement.... but yes we say side walk lol
Finally, someone who understands! 🥲
Yes Americans say pavement
These are so awesome. Keep them coming..!
Thanks! Definitely will do
Absolutely Love this... Thank you!!
Happy you liked it! There’ll be many more to come :)
Great video! Where’s the exact place you had your lunch, seems breathtaking
Thanks!! It’s hard to say exactly where to be honest. We followed the trail up to the left of the cliffs after the church and then took a right towards the coast at some point. Sorry I can’t be more specific, has been a while 😅.
Only know 1 3 5
We have that word Jumper in Russian.
As a brit ive never heard 2 of those words up until now.
Which ones? I think some are very regionally specific.
@@BaerLanfriednonce and jumper
@@BaerLanfriedMange tout and BNOC I'm from the black country btw
@@iapthomas3313really ?everyone uses those terms
@@hhermon6415 mostly yeah
Minted is rich, but mint is good. Nonce is also a term in cryptography and I have no idea how it comes up in both contexts. The prison origin is a backronym, more compelling root of it is derived from “nance” as in “nancy”, an insult to effeminate (and/or homosexual) men
Shoot, should’ve included “mint”, that’s a good one. Interesting it could relate to nance. From this comment and another one, I’m starting to think I should do a whole etymology vid on just “nonce”.
@@BaerLanfried it’s a tough one to tackle well, but does surface interesting points about homophobia and demonisation encoded into language. It’s also an oddly whimsical word for one so venomous
@@cloudmastr8105 Definitely! It does confuse me how often it seems to be used whilst meaning such a specific, and horrid, thing.
Nonce comes from Wakefield prison, and it's was written on sex offenders doors, it's an acronym N - Not O - on N - Normal C - Courtyard E - Exercise. So the prison would use this to let the prison guards know, not to allow that prisoner out with all the other prisoners for their safety.
Woah, some cool etymology there. I guess I used two acronyms in this short without even knowing. Thanks for letting us know 🤙🏼
@BaerLanfried no worries, hope you're doing well

“British Words” Immediately starts with French
The Brits are big into stealing French words. Love the d20 prof pic btw!
@@BaerLanfried the French invaded Britain in 1066 and occupied much of Britain bringing in a many French words. So the didn’t steal crap they had crap dumped on them. Do a little digging on Anglo-Saxon versus Norman cultures and you will see a lot of the words that brought into what is now great Britain. Generations down the road they intermarried and became what is called Anglo-Norman.
@@TMIvey-gk4mwGreat point! I suppose “steal” isn’t the proper word. It’s usually something I say to my UK friends to rile them, though it’s probably just a bad joke at this point. I understand how it could be misinterpreted though, so I appreciate you bringing that up 🤙🏼
I love courgette - squash
It's a fun one!
pavement? 😂 yes we use that word.
Pavement? I’m pretty sure you learned that word from Americans. 😂😂
pavement? wowie zowie!!
No we don't know pavement okay dude calm down
Pavement is a hot topic apparently 😄
Zucchini. Does it still count?
100% it still counts
Zucchini
That’s it!
I thought it was eggplant
@@DandFTvthat’s aubergine! Will be coming up in a different short
We know what pavement means?? (And we make fun of yall for saying aluminium)
I’m American! I suppose many of us do know pavement, just not used to mean sidewalk
@@BaerLanfriedI learned pavement as a child. Maybe it's just not used in your area?
@@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa790Yeah I think that’s the case

Probably my favorite out of all of em 😄
How long was your hike and do you think it would be as green in June?
I was around 5 hours if I remember correctly. We sat and ate lunch towards the end though. If the weather has been normal for the Basque Country this year, it should definitely be as green in June!

New subscriber here from the Philippine Islands.🌴🥥🍍🥭 Your Camino adventure was awesome! You inspired me to do my own Way to Saint James. 🙏🙏💗💗
Happy to hear! I hope you have an amazing time, in fact I am sure you will
Amazing video! Pretty cold for June. I am planning on my Camino mid-July and can't decide whether to bring a sweater. Guessing you would recommend it!
Thanks Phillip! That's up to you but it does get super hot in July so you might not need it. At least one light jacket should do.
@@BaerLanfried brill, was looking for an excuse to leave it at home!
Great video! I'm prepping for the Camino (in late August) and wanted to know if any of you (sad Gabe and "Soak it" Matt) had any backpack issues, specifically any sore shoulders or back that you remedied along the way. Thanks!
Hey Bill! Apologies for such a late reply. None of us had any problems on that front, we all packed pretty light. I did have an occasional soreness but it was never too much of a bother and I think it is perfectly natural.
Adorei as músicas brasileiras! Loved your trip! Planning mine
Glad you liked it, I hope yours will be just as special!
I really enjoyed watching this. You guys looked like you had great fun. What an experience.
It was a blast indeed, glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for the update...as you can see, I'm pretty tardy on watching them, but I do enjoy watching, so please keep up the videos whenever the mood strikes...Peace
Thanks Texas Rascle, there will be more coming soon.
wow so picturesque! can't leave australia at the moment so travelling through you!
Honored to be your vicarious travel partner Kelly!
nice one travel, like the way you shoot very sharp, captured well the views. muchos gracias for sharing this.
Thanks Lucy!
Lmao “traveling during the pandemic.” Pretty sure that’s the opposite of what you are supposed to be doing
Exactly!
Great vlog! What are the names of the restaurants you visited?
Thanks Alejandra! The ones I didn’t mention were: Los Galayos (just next to plaza mayor), and bar Eduardo. Although I didn’t mention them because I did not like them as much as the others that I did mention. If you want some more recommendations I have PLENTY for Madrid and can give a whole list.
This seems to be such a charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
Awesome video Baer! I felt very nostalgic watching it, also funny to see the way in a different time of the year, So much green :) I was on the frances couple months later. Also agree with your last words. Gonna be back on the Camino in two weeks. Cant wait! Buen Camino from Vienna
Lucky guy! I miss the Camino immensely, I do parts of it when I have the time. Buen camino to you man!
Hi Baer, a belated congratulations (also to Matt and Gabe) on a great Vlog, all 3 of you come over as great guys. One element you've answered for me is to take a day or so off the Camino to go to Madrid. Regards Steve, UK.
Thank you Steve! Highly recommend doing that for sure. When you’re there you should go to the restaurant Alhambra by the city center (metro Sol). If you do decide to go there are two side by side, it’s the one further up the street from the main road. If you like Spanish cuisine I cannot recommend it any higher.
¿El camino francés no empieza en la Tour St. Jacques de París?
Realmente no se, pero el camino frances popular empieza a Saint Jean Pied de Port
Doing the Camino Primitivo in October have put the L' Angleiru on my list. Your videos are very very good take a short rest and come back!
Oh yes you definitely should, make sure to get their chuleta and mushrooms!! Thank you as well, I’ve had a nice needed break and I intend to keep them coming at a more varied pace.
There is a Camino Madrid that goes north through Tres Cantos, Segovia to Sahagun to Leon. ....walking, buen camino
I've heard of this! Maybe one day I'll give it a go, I imagine the arid scenery to be marvelous.
@@BaerLanfried the most beautiful and popular is the Camino Frances...starting in France from St. Jean pied de Port to Santiago. It's wonderful walking as a pilgrim. Takes 4 weeks...look up Efren Gonzales. He's done Frances, Norte, Franciengina, & the Portugese ones. You're so young to discover The Way....Miki
