Violet Jessop - In Her Own Words
Переглядів 2,2 тис.2 роки тому
1st class stewardess Violet Jessop was a 'true survivor' and one of the more famous names to come out of the Titanic story. From humble beginnings to becoming a stewardess aboard the new R.M.S Olympic, she was aboard when it suffered a major collision with another vessel, the H.M.S Hawk. Transferred to the R.M.S Titanic she survived the infamous disaster, and them during the 1st world war would...

    Those suggesting the wreck should be plundered for artifacts, It's a grave, I would be inclined to let it and the victims rest in peace. The project to digitally map it doesn't seem to interfere with it though.

    Best wreck footage I've ever seen. Outstanding artifact recognition. Opinion: bring up as much as is identifiable from the liner. Clean it, preserve it, and display it to recognize the event and those lost.

      Yeah, it will be great to just unscrew the cap, pull out the painting and put it in a frame. Hope we can tell which artist did it from the signature, or the brushstrokes.

    This video shows the time way too slowly from the time of water coming over the bridge to the time of the final breaking. It happened much faster: seconds, not minutes. And then it shows the detached stern going down quickly, where in actuality it was much slower--minutes, not seconds. Besides getting that backwards, the video shows a continuous port list, with funnels falling to port. The ship had come out of its port list, and the #1 and #2 funnels fell to starboard.

    • @MassimoCalderaro-u8h
      @MassimoCalderaro-u8h 3 дні тому

      But ultimately capsizing completely until the stern rests on its side while plunging.

    • @billvanek5570
      @billvanek5570 3 дні тому

      @@MassimoCalderaro-u8h Nope. Only chief baker Joughin said it went strongly to the port side, and he had been drinking. His memories were mixed up. There was absolutely no capsizing. The four different sinking times were described as "plunging" or "diving" by multiple witnesses, which corresponds with Seaman Buley's "headforemost" description: Senator FLETCHER. The afterpart kind of righted up horizontally? Mr. BULEY. She uprighted herself for about five minutes, and then tipped over and disappeared Senator FLETCHER. Did it go on the side? Mr. BULEY. No, sir; went down headforemost.

    Немцы-самая кровожадная и подлая нация, за всё то горе, которое они принесли народам мира, германии вообще не должно было быть позволено существовать как государству. А в руки немцам, я не дал бы даже рогатку.

    7:10 "... This is the Britannic" Imagine you had to clarify which sinking ship you were talking about because you've been on so many, LOL I laughed at first but then I felt sad, poor old lady! She should have married that kind old millionaire in the New York hospital room when she was just 20 odd years old, (he wouldn't last long anyway) then she would have inherited his money and enjoyed 60 years of care free rich life! Getting hung up on Ned was her biggest mistake, after she went around the world to see him without getting a proposal, it couldn't be more clear that it was a waste of time to begin with. Plenty of fish in the ocean, she of anyone on this planet would know best, since she's been around all of them, hundreds of times!

    It has always been my understanding that (like the ANDREA DORIA and EMPRESS OF IRELAND), that dives to the LUSITANIA are extremely hazardous (due, I believe, to the swift currents), and that only divers who are the most experienced are permitted to dive on her. Is that true?

      well, it would take a ton of resources, and its small pieces of the interior, most of the recognizable parts are long gone by now. And lets not forget over 1500 people died in that spot, the remains of their bodies still can be seen in the debris field.

    Time and tide has not been kind to the wreckage, depth charges too if that rumor is correct (misidentified as sub in later war). I know it’s common and probably not worth the risk but it’d be nice to see group of divers try to remove some of the old fishing nets.

    Since Britain has NEVER been a country known for its honesty or even coming close to telling the truth about anything the world will never know with absolute certainty just what the RMS Lusitania was or was not carrying. All we have is speculation and rumor, no real facts! One thing we DO know is that Germany, then and in the war to follow was nothing but a bloodthirsty, barbaric nation of savages and this action proved it as did the unprovoked sinking f the Athenia just a few years later.

    That's a lot of apparatus these divers have on their backs. How long are the ale to stay down? Most of what I see is rusty, twisted up, barnacle encrusted scrap metal. To be expected after all those years in the ocean.
