The 5GI mechanism is designed for easier DIY installation, resulting in lower prices due to higher sales volume. However, the pressure exerted on the bottom join as it flexes to allow the top to fit together often leads to fractures in the bottom board. Over time, this can result in the join breaking, causing the boards to separate and go their own way. Unfortunately, in such cases, it's usually the installer who receives blame, rather than the product itself. This situation can be financially burdensome for the installer, as they usually bear the cost of repair. Many flooring companies have recognized these issues and have started transitioning to more reliable mechanisms like 2G and 5G systems, which are known for their durability and reduced risk of these types of problems. This shift is a positive step towards improving the overall quality and longevity of flooring installations.
