Yes we are an Association Football city, a predominantly working class city Yet Rugby Union is played here even though all our surrounding towns Widnes St Helens & Warrington are are all Rugby League ... Please can anybody explain to me Why This Is ???

I was there at age 9, wonderfull memories. Actually held the challenge cup as it did the tour around the home area outside the Queens pub in Tyldesley, my aunt owned the pub back them.

I bet his boots were sodden, very difficult to stand the ball up, knackered at the end of a game in such dreadful conditions. It wasn’t an open goal. And of course insane pressure. Would still have expected to make the kick.
