Love this hatchery, the gardens were beautiful. A true hidden gem. Btw, the state name is pronounced Ore- gun....not Ore- gone!
It is a hidden gem! My parents visited the hatchery years ago on a wedding anniversary trip. I discovered her travel diary, and we retraced their steps. Thank you for watching and for the pronunciation correction!
It's beautiful, what month were you there?
We were there mid-September. It was lovely!

Bannack was the first territorial capital of Montana.
Yes, thank you for pointing that out. I should have mentioned that. Interesting history!
Your welcome. I believe it was also the first gold strike and rush
Thank you, have you ever cleaned a vintage rug? Seems you would need a lot of materials to restore them. I think older style rugs are really nice though.
I haven't tried that. It would be a satisfying project.

The land you mentioned at 8:05 was Whidbey Island. I visited Fort Casey, which is on Whidbey Island, and took a BUNCH of pictures there when I was on vacation to Seattle, before relocating there, in Oct. of 2021.
You solved that mystery for us! Thank you!
Very nice. I've just relocated to Seattle, and exploring the coastline with my camera in tow is top of my to-do list.
You will love it! There is a picture-worthy scene at every turn!
amazing movie, thank you
Absolutely! Thank you for watching!

Safe? Large icebox? IDK
A safe I think!
👍👍👍
When was it abandoned?
Gold was discovered there in 1862. By 1863, over 3,000 people lived there. After that, it slowly declined. The last person living there died in 1970. It's a fascinating history.
Thanks!
It really looks delicious! I'll give it a try👍,thank you.
I hope you enjoy it!

Hi Vicki, I just discovered your channel and WOW!, Very cool content. Can't wait for more adventures! Have a good'n from Appalachia
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
A really beautiful view. I have been to every state east of the Mississippi River but only crossed it once to go to Arkansas. I would love to take in the western stated. Are you a nomad? Been watching a lot of van life channels lately and have been thinking of giving it a shot.
We're from the east. Seeing the western states has been a dream come true for us. We travel 5-6 months and work the other months. It took a lot of planning to get to this point but it was well worth it. We love being on the road!
I remember the first time I visited the battlefield . Dad and I started the walk down near the river and followed the flow of the battle up the hill to the mass grave site. That was June 1976, 100 years after the battle. Years later, after my time in the army, I reflected on the hopeless feelings these men must have felt at the odds and how there were often 2 markers together, indicating to me that 2 men fighting back to back in their last moments. Thanks for visiting there and letting me remember
That is so interesting. The walk up from the river would give such an amazing perspective, as would your time in the army. The placement of the markers speaks volumes, without a word spoken. Thank you for your service!
looks like the old owners are coming out
Why is this place abandoned? Thank you for this great video.
The town was created when there was gold discovered in the nearby creek. Large numbers of people moved into the area hoping to get rich. Soon, they discovered the gold ran out. A few people, and their descendants, stayed in the town, but eventually they abandoned it. The state bought the land, preserved the town, and created a place for visitors to come and explore.
@@secondchancesmindset thank you so much for your response more grease to your elbow and more wisdom always.
