I grew up and worked in Honiara and have seen the steady growth of the town to a modern city like our Pacific neighbors like PNG and Fiji. We have our own economic difficulties but life must go on. Life is what you make it to be. I love my country Solomon Islands.

Visited Honiara twice in the early 1970s, so much change. Would love to know what happened to the old cinema (audience participation required - cheering on the goody, booing the baddies - wild), the fish market and the docks/harbour. Love seeing those big clouds brewing, refreshing rain in another hour. Thank you so much for posting.

This is a big Pacific Games ever held in the Pacific. Solomon Islands did very well in hosting such event.

Fiji is the king of rugby 7.

I left the country since 2021. Till now I was so happy and proud of the development!! We must all know the infrastructure development is one of the indicator to development and that is what happened here. Thanks bro ronii for the vid🙏

Keep going Honiara

One of the fastest growing large towns (now a city), in the southern hemisphere. Was there for the third time on work purposes (every three years) and I noticed how fast changes took place in Honiara. Sooner (in another 5 to 8 years) this place will be transformed into a modern city.

ืwow i came over seas since 2019 and i did not go back and while watching this, i was surprised to alot of changes, cant wait to back home now.

You know I wouldn’t mind betting Honiara is going to be the largest and most modern city in the Pacific shortly. Bigger than Nadi, Suva etc…😅

The Solomons people have something else here to be really proud of now, Honiara is turning into a large modern city imo. Laurie. NZ. 😊

Definitely very interesting as it gives potential tourists a look at the town they can walk around. Especially cruise ships. It is the same for here in New Zealand as that brings in a few hundred million dollars in revenue each year, for various port cities and towns now. It could be really good for the Solomons too. The Mendana is where I would stay if able to get back again for a holiday visit, 😅

Thanks we stayed at the Mendana Hotel when we arrived in Honiara (1968-70) and used to go there for evening meals and occasionally saw the sharks cruise in around the small inter island boats….. Laurie. NZ. 😊

Thanks I used walk out there to the main road to catch the bus back home in town at lunchtime etc. . It was grassy fields then. I enjoyed my few months at KG VI Laurie. NZ. 😊

Mmmm that used to be on the right back in 1968-70 btw, left was where we went to the Scouts group. Cha Wing Motors was the main shop and there was a restaurant just along from the bridge over the river, on your right. Laurie NZ. 😊

1315, I agree its the same here in the town I live in. I pick it up and put in the rubbish bins our town council provides. Its much nicer and feels alot better having clean streets and shopping areas. Thanks. Laurie NZ. 😊

Subscribed! Thanks its looking heaps better from what I have seen in UA-cam videos. Its the same here in NZ when we get roading projects completed as they make life so much easier and pleasant. Also I am amazed at how Honiara has grown huge and Mendana Ave is no longer the two way street it used to be back in 1968-70 when I was living there as a kid. 😊😊 Laurie NZ.
