I went to one at Amberley before they retired the pigs, the family had the best day except it was stinkin hot but some great photos and aircraft.

The F-111 was the RAAF's last 'real' aeroplane. Now, it's all machines, computers and robots in the seat. I'm SO glad I got out in 1991, the RAAF is now a pale shadow of it's former self.

I joined the RAAF as a Service Policeman (SP) in 1977 but our titles were then changed to RAAF Police (RAAFPOL) with shirt pocket badges. I see it's now reverted back to Service Police with SP on the brassard.

As a doggie, they were my favourite aircraft to look after if you took the engine covers out and placed them against the back tyres, it was like a comfortable chair

I remember seeing the f 1 11 at Wagga Wagga in 85 for the Jubilee celebration when I was a cadet such a awsome aircraft

Retired at the right time, looks like it was leaking quite a lot of fuel.

I seen them fly over with the afterburner on like that & could feel the heat on my face!

I remember watching an F 111 being stripped at RAF Lakenheath. They removed the engines & there was hardly any plane left, it was amazing how much of the aircraft was just those two jet engines.

They have one at the Air Museum at Caloundra, Sunshine Coast.

The skies around SEQLD have never been the same since our pig left😢

I had the privilege in 1985 as a teenager to do work experience at Amberley Air force Base. I climbed all over these F1-11s. A great time to be alive. Best jet ever....🇦🇺🦘

Great bird, would have loved to have flown one.
