15:21 I've discovered evidence that Edgar Allan Poe's claim to "The Raven" was a scam, and that it had actually been written by Mathew Franklin Whittier, the younger brother of the Quaker poet John Greenleaf Whittier. In my opinion, Rufus Griswold was going easy on Poe, but felt he had to tell the truth in his eulogy. Thomas Dunn English was more blunt--both were being quite accurate. What we think we know about Poe, now, is an apologetic myth, which is to say, history written by the fans.
I disagree. I’m From Cleveland and I’ve lived in Atlanta Houston worked in Dallas and worked in Chicago. I’m a truck driver and I think the best solution for Columbus and its million population growth in the next 25 years is too create commuter rails in 1 hour north of the city center 1hour south of the city center one hour west of the city Center in one hour east of the city center this way you can put 250,000 people in our north of Columbus 250,000 people in our south of Columbus 250,000 people in our west of Columbus and 250,000 people in our East of Columbus and in between those towns you have room to grow and you have a lot of space deal to commute or catch the train in the winter time when it becomes a blizzard and harsh weather

Very much appreciate Josh and his story of going to the Bexley Library as youngster with his Mom and sisters often! I too was introduced to books at a very young age with "Curious George" and I was off and running! Being a Military "Brat", my family mover quite often due to my Dad's deployments and it was always cool to see all the new libraries. For me personally, NONE had the same affect on me as The Bexley Library! I have always thought of BPL as "The Cathedral Of Reading"! The atmosphere and ambience of this Hallowed Abode has never left me! For me it's like entering The Holidays regardless of the time of year or weather! It is like coming home! I'm forever grateful for this experience!
I wrote about the photo at 58:00 in 2018 The Photo -By Jari Villanueva, June 7, 2018 There is a photo I’m quite taken with. It was taken from the funeral of Robert F. Kennedy who was assassinated 50 years ago this week. The caption reads: A family in Harmans, Maryland, pays their respects as Robert Kennedy’s funeral procession passes by on its way to Washington, DC. Photograph by Paul Fusco On June 8, 1968, after a funeral mass was held at St Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, a train took the casket of Robert Kennedy to Washington DC where he would be laid to rest not far from the grave of his brother, President John F. Kennedy, in Arlington National Cemetery. Kennedy’s train was reminiscent of the funeral train that bore Abraham Lincoln’s remains from Washington to Springfield, Illinois 103 years before. And like the Lincoln train, it moved through both city and countryside with thousands of Americans lined up to pay their respects and give a final tribute to the presidential candidate. Along the way were prominent citizens, elected officials, veterans, police, youngsters in baseball and Boy Scout uniforms, rich, poor, Black, White, Hispanic, young and old. Many stood quietly as the train passed, others wept openly and many stood at attention and saluted. Many brought signs “Goodbye Bobby” or “Farewell Bobby.” Many brought US flags which were on staffs or held up by two people. Thousands brought cameras to record the event. They had gathered hours beforehand waiting for the train to pass. The train which departed at 1 pm from New York was to pass through Elizabeth, over the Delaware River at Trenton, Philadelphia, Sharon Hill, Wilmington, North East, over the Susquehanna River, through Baltimore with the final destination at Union Station in Washington DC. Because of an accident that killed bystanders waiting for the train, the entire North East travel corridor was closed so the funeral train could make its way slowly south. It arrived at 9:30 pm necessitating an evening burial at Arlington National Cemetery. This photo shows a family of seven lined up with the children in order of birth. The children are wearing swimming trunks and are dirty, perhaps from playing before the train arrived. The parents appear to be in their 30s and both appear to be of a blue collar worker family. The father is wearing a soiled uniform of perhaps a gas station attendant, a maintenance worker or construction job. The mother is dressed in shirt and pants, perhaps a stay at home mom. The image is one of a lower middle class family. Everyone is standing at attention and in a silent, somber pose. The father may have been a veteran and may have instructed the children to stand this way as the train passed. The photograph is a poignant and powerful image of the outpouring of grief and sadness at the assassination of yet another public figure. Just weeks earlier Kennedy had spoken to a crowd in Indianapolis the evening of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King saying, “What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love, and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black….And let's dedicate ourselves to what the Greeks wrote so many years ago: to tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world. Let us dedicate ourselves to that, and say a prayer for our country and for our people.”

This is so powerful--thank you for unearthing of this woman's story for the benefit of us all! From listening to the excerpt of the book, I can't help but connect to Bessie as I hear about feeling like "too much" due to her height, and that sense of not being cherished. This real-life story connects strongly to the fictional experience of the character in my book. I declare, I need more time in the day! :-) Now I've got to read this book to learn more about this lady who I simply must call a Sweet Fire! 😃🔥Thanks again...

I was a child of The 60's....old enough to know something groovy was going on....just not old enough to appreciate the moment(s)! I absolutely believe Ms. Margaret Wunderlich said it perfectly @ 3:17 when she said she knew she could not show "everything" AND that the 60's were seen through so many different eyes and nationalities that indeed we ALL probably saw what we identified best with! I had no idea that Mr. Stine grew up in Bexley! Very Cool! I knew Bob Greene was from Bexley and of course I loved his books about growing up here and the things he did before he became a Globe Trotting Writer! But seeing that Mr. Stine as well was a home grown Bexley Boy gave me "GOOSEBUMPS" 🤣 Cheers and continue the Birthday Party!
Great message from Hanif! Bet as a youngster he had no idea that many Moons later he would be celebrating his very first Library's 100 year Birthday! The journey he has been on since he held that first book in his hand back in the day no doubt is filled with stories, realizations, questions and some answers sprinkled in! I'm glad Hanif is getting the recognition he has worked for while being able to mentally hug his Library and share his gift! 👋
Wonderful Tribute from Superintendent Fine! The heights that Bexley Library has grown over a century is not lost on those who cherish their Library Cards on a daily basis! Events, community service, acknowledgements to those who contribute time, money, resources and of course The Books! I personally have always considered The Library to be on Hallowed Grounds and the wonderful Staff are like Family to me. I'm always proud to let others in my world know all about The Bexley Library and why they too should come say HI discover what many patrons always find here....HAPPINESS! The people who work here to make our visits more enjoyable is not lost on us either! Ben and his Staff always extend that extra smile and suggestion when helping a patron. The auditorium activities are numerous and in such a scale of variety that a person is bound to find one or three that fits perfectly in the moment! I've experienced many libraries since I went to my first "Story Book Time" and they were all very nice...but none can compare to The Family Atmosphere that greets people who walk through The Big Brass Door! Thank you for my Library Card! 📚

What a lovely walk down memory lane! Wonderful music, enthusiastic audience and a chance for me to experience a bit of The Old Auditorium as I never had the pleasure of actually being in there until the renovations! Hard to believe it's almost 24 years since this Concert took place but I'm quite sure it is still Tattooed on many Hearts and Souls who were lucky enough to share the air with these three fine musicians while enjoying some Tea and cookies! Cheers BPL Staff and Patrons!
