After a little practice next to a railing, my current answer to my own question is: go quite slow when you replace feet. That way it is actually doable to balance the deck when changing from normal stance to monoski stance and back. If anyone has an idea on footwork at (slightly) higher speeds I am still interested ...

Hi Seth! Sorry for the delay. Thank you! This is so great to hear. Yes! You'd probably be surprised to find how quickly others will take to distance rides. For example, I'm a mom who didn't learn to skate until after our 4th kid was born, and my husband grew up a street skater. We have riders of all ages attend our event, Centennial Sk8 Fest (Arlington, WA), last year we had ages 4-64 race, and we even made a separate trophy for the Masters 50+ category because we had quite a few racers in that age group. We are seeing more and more cyclist/runners on boards. It's a great way to stay in shape, have fun, cross-train, clear your mind, meet up with friends, etc. We're truly a tight-knit skate family, all across the world. If you haven't already, join the Facebook group "Distance Skateboarding Worldwide" and become a member of the IDSA (theidsa.org).

Hi Angela. Thanks for the recommendations and sharing what's going on in your life and in WA with LDP. Sounds great! I have 3 kiddos myself and my 2 girls (5 and 11) skate already and our baby is "starting to" with assistance of course. Mom is skating too and getting better. I am hoping to see some cyclists and particularly runners get interested.....maybe even some street skaters too. I think LDP is a great option for a lot of age ranges for good and fun exercise and enjoying life too.

I'm in south Louisiana as well. I grew up skating and riding bikes. I'm a truck driver so I'm crazy out of shape. I'm really considering getting a long board to hit the lakefront by my house in kenner for exercise. I'm bored on my bicycle and looking for a something I can have fun doing. How'd it work out for you?

We didn't know Sioeye support shut down. Wow. We've never shot in 4k. My computer, at the moment, isn't fast enough. I've had the best results in 1080p 30fps. If I find out more about Sioeye, I'll message you back. We've worked directly with them for our event.

Angela Kuhn I fully intend to go up there. This year I battled severe bilateral Achilles tendinitis, couldn't barely walk let alone run or skate. That's all behind me and if the weather will cooperate I will hone my skills and join you.
