One of the best lines and delivery EVER!

I had a friend who said “we don’t need no stinkin (blank) , I thought she was quoting troop, Beverly Hills “ we don’t need no stinking patches” but she was quoting this movie. But now I come here and that’s not even what he said. But apparently it was miss coded by everyone, so maybe true Beverly Hills meant to copy this, but it just went all wrong lol.

Ok. This is funny because: In the 1940's and 50's, profanity of any kind was not permitted in films. If this scene was an actual confrontation of the type they're depicting, the person portrayed by Mr Bedoya would likely be using strong language peppered with expletives. John Huston's choice to replace those words with the adjectives "stinkin' " instead of "f**king" or even "go**am" is what's funny about it. Because here we are in a movie theater watching a movie in which hopefully the skill level of the director carries us away into the story and plot, yet all of a sudden we're snapped back into the reality that we're merely watching a movie, by the ridiculous substitution of words. In other words, the absurdity of the bandit saying "stinkin" is crystal clear. That's what's funny about this scene.
