TALES from the JUNKYARD with Jonas Lach and Daniel Harrison
Let us take you inside one of the most bizarre classic car auctions ever: RM Sotheby's JUNKYARD Auction (AKA the Rudi Klein Collection).
For decades, the reclusive Mr. Klein tucked away scores of desirable European sports cars. His Los Angeles salvage yard, "Porche Foreign Auto", was known for harboring hundreds of rare machines behind its walls, many of which had met with an untimely end- smashed seemingly beyond repair. But the decades of dry storage paid off, because most went far beyond their one-time scrap value in what was certainly one of the most unlikely auctions in the history of classic car culture.
In this episode, Jonas Lach of Jonny's Garage and Daniel Harrison of Limit 55 join Maurice to recount their impression of the Junkyard, as well as sharing their personal car stories and how they see the future of the hobby.

Can't believe I've found this; only as a subscriber to Megyn Kelly YT I've somehow been led to find this. I'll be purchasing the book as I am a former diesel engineer, did my PgDip on Diesel (man and engine) and was a writer for a number of diesel publications. Great!

I'm saddened by this closure; twice I got there after they had closed for the day. On my last trip (3rd time), I got to see this wonderful collection and spent nearly the entire day looking at fantastic collection of autos and other items on the mezzanine. It was a great experience to enjoy these moving works of art. Hopefully some of the vehicles will attend other auto shows.

I think the greatest travesty, for me, of this museum is that I was never aware of its existence until now. How many wonderful museums are not properly promoted I have to now wonder.

Oh i am well aware of how out of control it can get!!!. I too have a 31 roadster. Same thing happening. Pulled the head decked it and new gasket. Over heating. Checked the valves one was bent. DOD a valve job. Still over heating. Rebuilt the carb (it was running super rich). Rebuilt the distributor, still over heating. Replaced the water pump. Still over heating. Pulled the radiator had it flushed out. Problem solved.

This is amazing stuff. I'm way behind in understanding all of it, but recently "endured" the Monterey car madness week. More than my brain could process. However I am going to start following Horsepower Heritage. He's got a good grip of many things car related. I'm amazed at how he gets access to and interviews some very accomplished individuals. Hey Kevin Czinger - love the sports models but let's get to a "people's car". It worked for VW. IPO? When?

Enjoyed your rebuild video. I was wondering if you checked the brakes. I had a 30 coupe with mechanical brakes and I adjusted at least twice a week, driving to and from high school. (In the 60's not the 30's) even then they could be scary. Later acquired a 31 coupe that had hydrolic brakes from a later Ford. I'm looking at another model A but a convertable like yours. Unfortunately it has mechanical brakes so I'll want to change them over... I'll look for more stories from you. And your special tools too.

If it works don´t fix it! The front looks an awful lot like the famous Embiricos Bentley whose body was built in Paris just before the start of WW II based on a then regualr Bentley chassis with a standard 4 1/2 liter engine. The design made the car so fast that it was even driven to Le Mans by a Brit with his family on board and raced at the 24 hours with top results at least three years in a row by then TEN years after it was built and delivered to its first owner who sold it because he was tired of having all the Bentley boffins test drive it for its first two years after completion.
