Anyone who's ever had a project car has a vision of the finished product in their mind's eye- but living up to the dream can be a challenge. Luckily, there are shops like Griot's Motors that take pains to do a proper job.
Forrest Davis is the shop foreman at Griot's and he's obsessive about the details that set a project apart from lesser efforts. From nuts and bolts to paint and body, an authentic restoration is more than the sum of its parts.

Good video I like your valve spring tool Fun stuff!
I enjoyed the trip video! I drive my 29 roadster around Walla Walla wine/farm country/viewing classic old homes. Visits with folks from around the world thanks to the old car. Keep on driving.
Thanks Jack! All the best to you
Guys, if you enjoyed this video, check out the Horsepower Heritage podcast, with over 100 episodes to choose from. You can find it wherever you get your podcasts. You can also find every podcast episode right here on UA-cam. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to the channel. Appreciate you!👍
If you increase RPM in neutral when you downshift you should not grind gears. PRACTICE PRACTICE
Yep! a little blip of the throttle helps. Thanks for watching!
you hve to doubble clutch when you down shift
Good point (which I forgot to mention in the video), upshift or downshift, gotta double clutch. Sometimes I don't quite get it just right. Thanks for watching!
Yup! they are not that hard to drive, just look ahead and look out for outher drivers. and don't be hurry, if you got to get somewhere fast , take a newer car
We just picked up a stock 31 Tudor which will remain largely stock. My 31 Roadster could be the twin to yours. Except I'm running a flathead/39 trans and lincoln brakes
Model As have a way of multiplying, don't they!😉
Beautiful car 😍
Nothing like driving a Model A!! I have a 29 Phaeton. I tune mine by the Les Andrews handbook. Clean all the electrical connections, and set all the gaps . Might be the coil or condenser for the weak spark. You're spot on with the driving advice!!
Nice! Phaetons are super cool. I'd love to have one some day. Thanks for watching!
Nice mild lowering job with reverse-eye springs.
Great video! I have one also. You need a really tight hat. The intermittent miss could be caused by worn distributor bushings or points cam. Also, rebuilt brakes would make your drove a lot less stressful. Finally, running faster than 50mph for extended periods will beat up the bearings.
Very true about the hat! I've had one or two blow away and had to circle back. My brakes are in great shape thankfully- but I'm still very careful. And you're spot on about the bearings. Maybe some day I'll do insert bearings. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I felt like I took the ride with you.
When you come out to the coast we'll do it for real!👍
So glad I stumbled across this interview while looking for information on the White Mouse racing team. I'm from Thailand and an admirer of Prince Bira's and Prince Chula's racing exploits. Happy to see that Mr Hunziker is racing in the team's colours.
Thank you for watching and commenting. This video is a bit of a sleeper, which is a shame because Nick is such an interesting and talented guy. Please share this with your friends who might enjoy it!
@@horsepowerheritage Will do. His artwork is brilliant.
Great analysis, thank you! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
One of the most beautiful cars ever made !
Guys, if you enjoyed this video, check out the Horsepower Heritage podcast on your favorite podcast app or click the link in the notes (right above the comments).
I grew up listening to my Dad speak so highly of Dan as a racer and how great he was to talk to in person. I live in Riverside and it’s cool to hear people still talk about him to this day here.
This Kiwi was lucky enough to spend quite sometime with Mr Gurney in the early/mid 2000's, several visits to AAR and a organized shop tour 4th July 2005. He spoke highly of my fellow countrymen Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme. Got to meet you too Justin and Mr Remington(RIP) as well. What a great human Mr Gurney(RIP), my all time motorsport hero. Thanks for the great video and Merry Xmas to you all.
Thanks for sharing that story! Dan was the man.
Sounds like Van Halen . . . .
This looks like a fever dream 💀
Nice video. I have not had luck using the Nu-Rex wrench with original style points. Retards the timing. It's really made for the modern upper plate I think. But I have been wrong before. Just something to look at.
So....Where did the money come from?
Wow! ❤❤❤❤
Keep it original!
very good
Mr Mullin amassed a magnificent collection of motorised art
Can't believe I've found this; only as a subscriber to Megyn Kelly YT I've somehow been led to find this. I'll be purchasing the book as I am a former diesel engineer, did my PgDip on Diesel (man and engine) and was a writer for a number of diesel publications. Great!
I'm saddened by this closure; twice I got there after they had closed for the day. On my last trip (3rd time), I got to see this wonderful collection and spent nearly the entire day looking at fantastic collection of autos and other items on the mezzanine. It was a great experience to enjoy these moving works of art. Hopefully some of the vehicles will attend other auto shows.
I went to the Schlumph museum at Mulhouse. I enjoyed several happy hours looking at the wide variety of cars. If you love cars and find yourself in or around Mulhouse you wont be dissapointed with a visit.
I think the greatest travesty, for me, of this museum is that I was never aware of its existence until now. How many wonderful museums are not properly promoted I have to now wonder.
Hi, I am a huge fan of Brendon, I follow him on Instagram for a long time, and I really appreciate his work. It's nice to hear you in this podcast, you are my greatest motivation to keep going with my project. I love this podcast, thank you, both of you guys are great!!
Thanks! Brandon is a really talented guy for sure. Glad you enjoy the podcast. Please share it with your friends!
Oh i am well aware of how out of control it can get!!!. I too have a 31 roadster. Same thing happening. Pulled the head decked it and new gasket. Over heating. Checked the valves one was bent. DOD a valve job. Still over heating. Rebuilt the carb (it was running super rich). Rebuilt the distributor, still over heating. Replaced the water pump. Still over heating. Pulled the radiator had it flushed out. Problem solved.
This is what a vilan would drive
Nice video
Bob Gurr is a national treasure! This was such a wonderful treat to watch.
I saw an old timer trick. Remove the spark plugs, and put some ripe down the 2 cylinders that are lower. Then crank over, to crack the head up.
Even the Museum Interior is 100 % Golden Age inspired, Style ,Grace and Beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing the unquestionable Crown Jewels................Still grabbing for Breath!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SINCE YOU HAD EVERYTHING APART WHY NOT PAINT THE PARTS THEN TO FACTORY SPECIFIC COLORS .?
My good man..why would I do such a thing? 😂
Great video. Of course I like the Bugatti. But the Gatsby duesenberg is probably my favorite
Thanks, Coop. I sat in the SJN for twenty minutes and let me tell you, it was like heaven.
A great video with some great metal!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Under appreciated gem of the San Fernando Valley! Just off the 5 Freeway near the San Fernando Mission. Main building is free to enter, the other part requires a reservation. Definitely worth several visits. PS - these cars are drivable.
Thanks for watching!
Woohoo!!!
Watched all three parts of your interview....all three were excellent ....Bobby Green is a VERY interesting person doing great things to preserve history and tell"the story"👍
Thanks for watching- glad you enjoyed it!
You should always use a left hand drill bit ,works good !!!
That is often true. But trust me when I tell you that in this case, it wouldn't have made a difference.
If I were a billionaire, I would want one of them and ask Audi please build me one.
There nothing like a Model A
I agree. Simple, reliable, charming and fun!
Nice job guys !!! Thanks for the lessons about how to build a Model A engine. From Carlos in Brasil.
Bom dia Carlos!
4:20 that beat drop 😳
I thought it was appropriate ☺
This is amazing stuff. I'm way behind in understanding all of it, but recently "endured" the Monterey car madness week. More than my brain could process. However I am going to start following Horsepower Heritage. He's got a good grip of many things car related. I'm amazed at how he gets access to and interviews some very accomplished individuals. Hey Kevin Czinger - love the sports models but let's get to a "people's car". It worked for VW. IPO? When?
Thanks, glad you're enjoying the podcast!
